Dugout Discussion

The Dugout Discussion – Saturday

Saturday continues with a quartet of matches, featuring Arsenal and an array of budget and mid-price Fantasy talent.

The Gunners trip to a resolute Aston Villa will likely be the headline act on show: Arsene Wenger’s men will look to recover from the midweek Champions League defeat to Dortmund against Paul Lambert’s resurgent midlands outfit. Alongside that, we’ve an enthralling encounter at the Liberty Stadium as Swansea and Southampton prepare to press and weave patterns around the South Wales pitch.

Elsewhere, Alan Pardew will look to extend his stay of execution at Newcastle via a winnable home clash with Hull City, while Burnley go in search of their first three points back in the top flight as Gus Poyet’s erratic Sunderland unit pull up to Turf Moor.

We may well be discussing some very meagre Fantasy points tallies by 4.50, as we prepare to make our way to East London to check in on West Ham’s progress, as they host Brendan Rodgers’ title pretenders, Liverpool.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

I love being teased with full defensive pts to then watch them disappear as the remaining minutes tick by

If my CS's hold i'll have 21 points. Can't wait for them all to disappear though for my score from 6 players to be around 12 for today.

Southampton look like a long-ball team almost. Their only threat is from crosses to Pelle.

Such a shame. If they'd just play Tadic centrally and try to work the ball they'd actually be very very dangerous

When is tadic going to score for me. He should play central

Its so backwards to have Long playing as a winger and Tadic out wide as well.

Southampton should push Clyne up further and move Long infield behind Pelle to give the Swansea CB's something else to think about.

We play the ball into wide areas. It's not a long ball game. Just one based on width. Inevitable with the players we have. If Mane gets fit and match sharp, Tadic may have opportunities centrally.

Yeah, "long-ball team" was probably wrong, but you get what im saying. The only threat is on crosses and Pelle isn't having much joy against two CB's on his own

Such a waste of talent, Long hasn't a clue how to play on the right. They look solid overall will be tough to beat for any opposition this season

Strikers are fine and De Gea in goal.

    Naylor, Coloccini, Cahill, Clyne, Wisdom
    Lamela, Ramsey, Sterling, Siggy, Marney

    1.8m, 2 ft's
    What would you do?

    Fabs/Di Maria seem popular.
Colo (newcastle sh.te) or Cahill (expensive, not enough points) out I think.

Any quick transfers I should do?

Don't know why people are so surprised about Pellè missing headed chances. He'll nick the odd goal here and there, especially over the next few gameweeks, but he isn't a twenty goal a season man.

Quin or Boyd? Both 4.4. Looks like both are nailed on, but Quin has more potential. I was all set on Boyd but now reconsidering. Anyone has insight how safe Quin is for starts? He will be bench all the time but you never know when you might need him

Last week I'd have said Boyd, but with Quinn starting again today that's the way I'm leaning. Won't often get 90mins but like you say - bigger potential.

Said this before, but Quinn at Hull looks a great prospect if he can retain his place. Started again this time, grabbed an assist and had a huge chance. 4,5 midfielder.

Seems a bit risky with all those new midfielders they bought on deadline day
