I have a feeling Tottenham will struggle this weekend at home to Southampton; shaky form and they typically struggle following a Eurpoean game (though it is at WHL this week).

Think I may play Tadic, Clyne and Pelle and put Welbz on the bench for the Chels v Ars game.

    Am I mad?

One of the following has to be benched - choose one:

        Siggy - Sterling - ADM - Fab - Tadic
        Welbz - Costa - Pelle

I'm leaning towards benching Welbz atm

No your not mad, im thinking of something similar , benching Welbz for Moore and playing 4-4-2 with double saints Def and Moreno, Arsenal mid depleted would have struggled at the best of times at Bridge

      Repost from last page:

Gonna throw this out there once more, any thoughts much appreciated!

      A) Ramsey -> Fabregas (will likely do Rooney -> Pelle next week).
      B) Ramsey -> Tadic, Rooney -> Aguero (will probably require a -4 and Ramsey out needs to be done tonight due to price drops).

        • 14 Years

I would go B, but transferring Aguero in before the Champions League game is risky. So I would do Ramsey > Tadic now before Ramsey drops then hold off on the Rooney > Aguero move until its clear he is available for the weekends game.........or save the hit and wait a week.

Yeah that's what I was thinking of doing, it's just if Aguero does get injured then I would probably get Pelle instead and therefore would prefer Fab over Tadic. I marginally prefer B longer term (I think), though I'm expecting Fabregas to score well against Arsenal. Guess I need to take a calculated risk. Thanks for the advice!

If you're not worried about hits then do A with Roo > Pelle this week too.

        Fwiw, I've already done Ramsey + Rooney > Tadic + Aguero for a -4.

Have Pelle so I went Roon + Ram > Aguero and Downing (-4) but would get Tadic if I didn't have Pelle...

Hah I'm in this spot too pretty much exactly. Except I can afforrd to wait on B) if I want.

Have a feeling we might have missed the boat on Cesc, great player but he seems to mostly offer assists. Well of course not missed the boat, but Tadic is a lot cheaper and offers good assists too. Seems like he's been unlucky not to score so far - http://thefplassistant.blogspot.com.au/

I'm hoping more people will give their input though!

Yeah there's so little in the Fab vs. Tadic and the Kun vs. Pelle stat battles, it's been so hard to decide. On one hand I'd like to fall back on Aguero's historic points production and proven finishing ability but then there's also his injury. With Cesc, I'm mostly being swayed by this gameweek, the "script" suggests he'll score against his old club and with Arsenal's injury crisis I think Chelsea could put a few past them.

Thanks for the advice all, I'm gonna go Tadic in tonight, then get Aguero if he comes through tomorrow unscathed. I will probably captain Costa so I can sort of "cover" Chelsea giving Arsenal a thrashing even without Cesc.

I think its very close if Falcao turns out to be who we know he can be. Prob is despite man u scoring a bunch their overall attacking numbers are pretty bad(shots in the box numbers are very low). It could just be varience over the first few games but its something to take note of

Krul and Elliot they all said
Naismith they all said after he scored a coupe
Begovic no good they said get Forster.
      Burney defence great they said

In what way was Naismith not proven to be a great goalscorer and Stoke's defense proven to be poor?

        Who said Elliot?
I was laughing at the folks getting Naismith
Begovic always a decent pick, unlucky not to have cs against Leicester and Hull.
Burnley defence has been great for the price.

This isn't actually about results. He's just on one. The first two OK I get it. But the truth is that Forster is a much better pick than Bego, who was lucky to get a cleanie never mind BAPs today. And Burnley defense is great value. I've raked it in with both since my WC three weeks ago.

I prefer Bego to Forster, Stoke's cs will predictably come at home and while Forster may well outscore Begovic after 38 matches, it'll rarely happen that I have him sitting on the bench when he gets 6+, i'll get most of his good days (obviously missed the one at the Etihad though 🙂 )

Nah, Stoke are poor. Have had plum fixtures and if not for the miss of the season would only have the fluke CS to City to show for it so far. This place is so reactionary.

If it was reactionary I would have sold Begovic by now. Look at the Hull game, they were all over them and conceded to pretty much Hull's only shot.

You could look at it that way or you could say they're a team that's not good enough to attack so naively. It's not about how many chances they give up but the quality of the chances they give up. They're basically reliant on the opposing team being both poor and wasteful on the day to get a cleanie. That's not good.

No idea what you're on about. Every team will inevitably give the opposition opportunities in a match, that's just football. Stoke don't give away many, certainly not as many as most. It just so happens that Hull hit them with a suckerpunch and Leicester scored with their one shot on target. The QPR match aside, they've been very tight at the back.

        1) Don't recall many saying this was a good idea.

        2) Was obv not gonna sustain his 1 in 1 but for 5 mil getting 8-10 goals in the season is decent value.

        3) Forster wasn't a bad call. CS returns between similar teams tend to even out over the long term

        4) Villa also had a good defense according to the CS numbers but a closer look at the stats would tell you they had been very lucky to keep any CS this season. Burney were in the same boat.

      Mannone (Heaton)
      Baines Clyne Chambers (Taylor Wisdom)
Di Maria Fabregas Sterling Siggy (Boyd)
      Costa Dzeko Pelle

Dropping RVP, Playing Mata in the hole behind falcao and januzaj and Di Maria on wings is the way to bring best from mata(bit chelse type) and the team but LVG is biased towards his compatriot. Especially the wings will look frightening for defenders.

with Rooney out, there's no need to drop RVP

and RVP does the drop deep interchange play just as well as Rooney (if not better)..

Rooney is the one that should arguably be dropped

            RVP is a striker...

I'm saying Rooney should be dropped to play Mata with RVP and Falcao up top..

Januzaj is too raw and doesn't deserve to start unless we have injuries as there will rarely be fatigue

My only concern is that playing two out and out forward is bit top heavy + januzaj needs chances coz he has potential. Wat if rogers hadnt given Sterling so much game time, he would not be player he is so early in his career. Anyway good point tho.

tbh though we've seen that they're not out and out forwards..Moyes' tactics isolated RVP but under Fergie he dropped deep into mid and was part of the link-up play..

Falcao also has shown that he enjoys assisting his teammates as much as he might enjoy scoring (when that starts)

I think having a diverse front 3 of that nature is great and dynamic and hard to defend and RVP and Falcao are better strikers than Rooney and Mata is a better #10..

honestly Rooney should be 3rd in the pecking order to play in the hole behind Mata and Januzaj

Rooney should have been a striker and only a striker his whole career..would have broken all those goal scoring records by now..but him thinking he could play mid set him back IMO..
