The ScoutCast – Episode 138 – Secretary

Granville’s lackadaisical approach to the new campaign might just explain why he’s treading water. Missing deadlines and price rises, my ScoutCast co-host badly needs to introduce some organisation into his season if he’s to keep pace – the man needs a PA – get your applications in.

With Granville floundering, I’ve decided to lay down my Wildcard to potential rub further salt into his wounds. Is it a chronic case of “jerky knee”? Granville certainly thinks (hopes) so.

We chat over my Wildcard revolution, analyse how the heavy-hitting midfielders are failing to pull their weight and rinse through the usual regulars in the same disorganised fashion.

Minute this meeting via this link or set your own agenda via the handy player below…

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

      Repost from bottom of page:

      Newbie question:

      Is there a place to find links to Mark's, Granville's, Jonty's etc. teams?

      Just curious to see what changes they have made over the season so far...

    So before Welbecks hat trick I was all set on benching him against Chelsea this weekend. With his confidense boost I surely can't do that now..? So, it's between Siggy and Downing. Bpth with very good fixtures. Thoughts?

    De Gea (MyHill)

    Clyne Taylor Dumett Lovren Vlaar

    Di Maria Sterling Fabregas Siggy Wanyama

    Rooney Costa Pelle

    Im getting rid of Rooney, but what to do from there.

            Last I saw him was at the World Cup and he looked a good player. If you have a 5th mid to bench, go for a punt on Valencia. I'd rather have him than Welbeck this week.

          yeah i'd definitely bench clyne from that lot

          never bench never captain baines so that leaves naylor moore moreno.

          I still don't trust pool defense so i'd say bench moreno. but if you've spent the money on him I guess play him... 😕

      Welbeck of course? Not even a question for me tbh.moore is a 4m defender that has 1cs so far this season with little to no attacking threat?

        It's only tough because BUR is such a donkey show. Easy to imagine a LEI clean sheet and Welbeck with 2 points in a tough away fixture following a tiring midweek game.

        As a general rule, I agree that it's best to keep your attackers off the bench.

    a) aguero + mane +.2m
    b) aguero + chadli + .9m
    c) welbeck + di maria + 2.1m (probably for baines next week)
    d) dzeko + di maria + .8m

      Other than Welbeck's GW7 matchup, my preference is for C. I take comfort in having cash in the bank to sort out future problems. I also don't sense any urgency for City attack (rotation, expense, CL, injuries, etc.).

      A or B for me. Don't see Di Maria being worth 10 million. I guess I'd lean toward Mane because his fixture is easier next week and you can always swap him out for Chadli if it looks like you've picked the wrong one.

    I've just had a look at the KPI player stats and noticed some really interesting things that I'd like to write a little in depth about, but perhaps it would be better in an article where I could use screenshots of the stats themselves.

    Who do I speak to about potentially writing an article for the site?

      Not sure an article with members stats would be of use.

        Was thinking an article about the most improved players would be interesting to read. I read a couple about Schneiderlin and Downing recently and thought they were insightful and I hadn't noticed the points about them even though I had access to the stats.

        KPI's and head to heads versus last year can really throw up some key pieces of information that would make a lot of people think twice about who to buy and sell.

        For example, even though you wouldn't guess it, Ramsey has actually been slightly better overall this season compared to last, particularly in the creative part of his game. Where he's failed to deliver at times is in his finishing.

        Several others like Steward Downing, Jack Colback, Mark Noble, Sterling, Sigurdsson and Ward-Prowse really stand out as well, and Sigurdsson has had a very clear shift in his role on the pitch which should provide a hint about his future output.

          Unless it's a members only article, it seems unfair to members. Community articles are open for all to read. You could email Jonty with your idea anyway and he can give you further advice..

            Yeah that's one of the reasons why I wanted to write a members article instead of making a long post on here sharing all the lovely secrets 🙂

              Not sure that's an option for community articles. A comment with members stats would get reported and removed. Try asking Jonty or write an article for all to read without members stats.

    Either of these stand out fellas?

    A) GW7: Ramsey & Rooney -> Chadli & Aguero (4 points)
    GW8: Terry -> Baines (0.3m cash left)

    B) GW7: Ramsey & Rooney -> Tadic & Welbeck (4 points)
    GW8: Hutton -> Baines (1.7m cash left)

      Similar problem here, cant decide between:

      Silva + Falcao (0.2 itb)

      Silva + Pelle (3.3 itb)

      Tadic + Aguero (0.4 itb)

      A for me Jinswick. If you have a chance to get Aguero you should take it I think. If he plays he'll score points, he always has done. If ( when ) he gets injured you can swap him out for any other forward - it's always easier to transfer down than up!

    Falcao: Guaranteed starter, 2 assists already, hit post last week, few weeks full training to meld ( word of the day?) with new teammates, United need to score as they are leaky at the back, playing against a Euro-hungover Everton who are leaking goals .... Why is nobody tipping him for a big haul this gw?

      maybe they are looking farther down the road at upcoming fixtures perhaps? Thats my main hold up on getting him in for rooney.

      They are probably looking at his stats and the fact he is averaging one touch in the opposition box per game or something ridiculous like that.
