Versus – Fabregas, Oscar and Hazard, Last Six Gameweeks

Four points clear at the top of the table and eight ahead of defending champions City, Chelsea already look to have a substantial advantage in the title race. Next up for Jose Mourinho’s men is a run of matches which looks poised to bring plenty of Fantasy investment their way – West Brom, Sunderland, Spurs, Newcastle, Hull and Stoke in the upcoming six suggests the league leaders should strengthen their grip at the summit.

When the campaign got underway, it was a two-way battle between Cesc Fabregas and Eden Hazard for our affections, but in recent weeks, Oscar has also thrown his hat in the ring. The Brazilian has now started each of the last six, and having served up three goals, an assist and seven bonus points over that period, has joined Fabregas and Hazard in the top ten of the midfield standings in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game. With this in mind, we take a look at the Blues trio’s displays between Gameweeks 6-11, allowing us to assess their current form ahead of such an enticing schedule.

If 1 FT only, save and get rid of S'hampton assets next week

If 2 FTs, then yeah... you could do Foster to Guzan... or Pelle to Austin would be more trendy (and fixture friendly)

So, what's the plan with the Jan wild card then? Increasing TV in the two weeks between GW 22 & 23? Hoping the clubs make some marquee signings? Changing rotations? Getting rid of that useless player in your team that has lost his place in the starting line up at his club? Setting yourself up for a swing in fixture?

    All of the above?

    1. Heels_Over_Head

    Can't belive I asking this.

    A) Sanchez and any 6m striker
    B) Walcott and Welbeck

for some reason I can't ignore Welbeck and Walcott is an FPL all time favourite. The first option allows me to rotate whoever the inform budget striker is. I'm gonna make this chance after the next GW. Any help.

My thinking is that if Sanchez scores again then he's definitely in. If he blanks I'm not so sure. If Walcott doesn't start Oscar can keep his place warm

Thanks for replies on previous page re my idea for dead team takeovers. I'm sure FPL could make it an official part of the game - press a button to kill, press a button to take over a dead team - but I can see one major downside:

It would make FPL a lot more competitive, as some dead teams might find their way to the higher ranks, where they'd otherwise be... well... dead.

We may not be too happy seeing our top 10k place overtaken by a team back from the dead!

The problem is, Sakho is also a very good option with very good fixtures - Arguably he is a slightly better option than Austin but both very good. I'm at a corssroads where I need to consider choosing

      A) 2 cheapies+aguero+huge defence and mid

      or

      B)1 cheapie+Aguero+Costa + slightly smaller elsewhere

      It isn't that easy IMO

      1. Kurtinho
        • 9 Years
        9 years, 7 months ago

Sakho is slightly better but there is a lot more competition up front now with Carroll back, Enner Valencia doing well, Cole and Zarate waiting in the wings. So any slight dip in form with him could see him lose his spot. Whereas Austin is so central to QPR's attack + he's on pens. I would definitely have Costa+Kun+cheapie(austin, sakho, berahino) up front if you have the chance. Better to be top heavy than having too many funds in defence.

Indeed, but currently Sakho is not the man who is being sacrificed for Carroll (90 mins last week with a carroll cameo) and also I see west ham scoring more goals in total.

I don't have much faith in redknapp to keep up this mini revival! Allardyce is a proven manager who has embraced an attacking style. It is exciting and fair play to the guy.

I've got the QPR Man City highlights on at the moment - Austin could easily have had a hat-trick in the first half. Don't know if I'd captain him, but he is an excellent player.

Next GW is a huge crossroads for me personally. Are any of you also at pivotal moments regarding your decisions?

    Pivotal moments for me:

    A) If Pelle/ Tadic score double figures, I will probably keep at least 1 more week
    B) If ADM scores well, I will be tempted to buy him
    C) If Costa does well, I won't be able to resist him
    D) If neither of the above do well, Coleman will be a key candidate to absorb the extra cash
    E) If they all do better than Haz (who I own) I will be in all sorts of confusion

All of the above may sound like kneejerks, but it is more like they're at a tipping point. One good/ bad performance, combined with a turn in fixtures, really will make a difference but not just due to one week.

And i'm still not happy 🙂 .. This really is a season where you always want a player that you dont own. I've got a great attack but boy do i want Siggy, Chadli, Wally, Austin etc in.. All about patience with the players you own this season.

@TFF, what do you think of my transfers this week and current team?

    Welbeck+Fabregas > Austin+Sanchez (2FT's, 0.3 left itb)

    Begovic (Krul)
    Baines Clyne Chambers (wisdom naylor)
    Sterling Sanchez Oscar Downing Tadic
    Pelle Aguero(c) (Austin)

Doing Tadic>Siggy next week, leaving 1.3itb

Having Austin, Downing and Siggy competiting for the bench is possibly a bit wasteful since they all have good fix coming up.

If I were you I'd decide which one is dispensable and sell him for a 4.4, leaving you with more cash for your regular starters

thing is, i don't see where i would spend that cash if i had it anyways, and i'd rather avoid the tougher fixtures if possible. Having a good 1st sub also allows me to take more risks like making early transfers.

Sorry for the delay in reply, just saw this

Oscar is 3rd in midfield points in the last 4 GW's, with 7 good fixtures in a row coming up. Not sure why you don't rate him? He's clearly not a rotation risk this season.

Begovic has been pretty unlucky. His stats are pretty similar to Forster's in some respects, especially in home games. I'm not gonna waste a FT on him when stats suggest he could get afew cs's soon

His stats suggest that he has been very very lucky though. See chances created, penalty area touches and shots inside the box in the last 4 game weeks and compare him with cheaper options like Downing (I know you have him!) and Chadli.

Which stats suggest he'll come good again? His recent stats have been pretty midyorker, against teams you expect him to do well against

    Any thoughts for this lot?

    Heaton (Gilks)
    Baines/Clyne/Chambers (Moore/Wilson)
    ADM/Fab/Downy/Siggy (Boyd)
    Kun/Costa/Pelle

    2 FT, 0.3 ITB

I know I have to deal with Moore and Wilson but I think more urgent is to get in Sanchez and/or Hazard so am thinking of doing Pelle & Fab --> Sakho or Ayoze & Sanchez, then next week would deal with Wilson or Moore

You think these are good transfers? Any other ideas? Thanks lads

U don't like my idea of downgrading Pelle? Don't think he will do too much away to Villa and after that fixtures worsen anyway...
Also would you not rather ditch Fab iso ADM? Would have enough cash if I went the Pelle exit route...

I don't like the idea of shipping Pelle before the Villa fixture. I think he will come good. 🙂

      For midfielders:

      1)Shots inside the box
      2)Chances created

What positions are you looking at? Depends on the type of player too.

      Attacking wise:
      - BIG CHANCES
      - Chances from Open Play
      - Touches in the penalty area
      - Shots in the box
      - Shots on target
      - Chances created
      - Touches in the final third

      That's 7. 🙂
      Goal Attempts for 8.

      Attacking Defenders:

      - Touches in final third - important for how far they get up the pitch
      - Touches in peno
      - Shots on target and in box
      - Chances created
      - Goal Attempts
      - Chances from Open play.

Pretty similar, but I'm looking for assist potential and goal scoring ability in both 🙂

Good point about the xmas rotation issue and Siggy for Marney is a possible move for me in wk 15 with that in mind, attacking rotations can indeed be a bit of nighmare as TFF says but more options over xmas has to be a good thing imo. 😛

Wow I just checked the saints tough 6 fixtures v big teams... If you have Yun+Dummet as your defensive subs, you are laughing:

    GW 13 - Yun (LEIC)
    GW 14 - Dummet (bur)
    GW 15 - Yun (BUR)
    GW 19 - Yun (PALACE)
    GW 20 - Dummer (BUR)
    GW 21 - Yun (bur)

    That's not a joke - 4 games vs Burnley + PAL + LEIC 😯

Really I would be quite happy to bench clyne for them!

Qpr doesnt seems to keep CS in any of the above..but there are big chances to get it..

Maybe, but I can see at least a couple of clean sheets from those 6.

He's only 3.9 for God's sake.. QPR should keep a few CS against fellow relegation battlers and he's like going forward. What's not to like?

Who's place in defence does Rio take up whe he is back? Is it Yun?

It would complete negate the point I'm making haha. It'd mean leaving Yun +Dummet on the bench every game.

Unfortunately I have saylor anyway - If he comes back and starts I'm laughing

Ah that'd be nice. I have Baines + Chambers. I am starting Saylor over Chambers this week but don't know if he is injured.

well Chambers is pretty decent too - if Arsenal get back to their CS way. I'd start Saylor nonetheless.

So it really may not be worth selling Clyne, especially given then money lost.

Saying that, if we ignore money it is a no brainer to sell, as his fix will (surely) improve in time for jan wildcard. I haven't checked, but they can't get worse.

This. And the likes of Azpi, Naylor and Chambers..all got much better fixtures in the same period of time. I got Clyne from the start too but looks like selling is the way to go.

What would you do with this team?
    No costa scares me...

    Forster (McCarthy)
    Chambers Baines Clyne (Moore Naylor)
    downing ADM Haz Alexis (Boyd)
    Aguero Sakho Pelle
    1FT, 0.7.

Save transfer this week. Looks good. Who, knows.. Costa could pick up a 5th yellow and get himself suspended for next gameweek. Hold off for now.

True... But if he runs wild on WBA his price will rocket..

Hazard.. as ADM is only the cover you have for manU..Costa is enough to have a chelsea player..

If hazard is to explode sometime it has to be in the next 4-5.
Problem is that ADM also has to good home fixtures after ARS

    Krul (Eliot)
    Baines, Azpi, Chambers (Colo, Wisdom)
    Sanchez, Hazard, Siggy, Chadli (Boyd)
    Aguero, Costa, Austin
