The ScoutCast – Episode 143 – Yellow

Far from a tribute to Chris Martin’s middle of the road act, this week’s ScoutCast reflects on the sea of yellow flags that have flooded our Fantasy Premier League squads over the past week. You’re nobody unless you’ve collected at least four by Saturday morning.

The uncertainty caused by phantom international break injuries dominates proceedings as Granville and I mark a return to the studio. Whilst I start praying for Georgie Boyd to step up, my co-host begins his campaign to hypnotise me into getting rid of Branislav Ivanovic before he starts putting further daylight between our teams. I’m refusing to gaze into Granville’s eyes.

Elsewhere this week, we catch “Cup Fever” and resurrect the ScoutCast team. Sign up and you could soon have the pleasure of knocking Granville and I out of our own cup competition. Providing we qualify of course – that’s far from a given.

“Look at the stars” via this link or “look at how the shine for you” via the handy player below…

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Hey guys,

    My defence is looking like

    Krul (Myhill)
Terry Clyne Vlaar (Wisdom) ( Bruce)

Unless by some miracle vlaar manages to play i'll have wisdom coming off the bench against chelsea. With that in mind is it worth taking a hit (no FTs) for

    A) Bruce -> Duff
    B) Bruce -> Trippier
    C) Something else

    or D) stick

Any feedback would be much appreciated

Not sure a hit will reward back those points really, & even if does at most you'll get 2.
Not worth it for me mate, Wisdom is a great option at that price, just hang on for these tough fixtures & he'll keep rotating well w/ your Bruceless bench soon 😉

Next week, I'd do A personally. Unless you want Baines of course 🙂

Bruce will do no harm on the bench this week, even a Burnley defender will have it tough this week vs an in-form Stoke attack. So both A & B have little clean sheet potential this week & you'll likely be sitting w/ that -4 w/ no chance of getting them back.

So D this week Optimus, 100% sure

Good Morning people. Would be needing some advice 😀

    Guzan - Adrian
    Jagielka - Chambers - Duff - Wisdom - Clyne
    Sterling - Sigurdsson - Boyd - ADM - Mane
    Costa - Aguero - Pelle

    2FT and 0.8 itb.

Was thinking Mane and Sterling to Downing and Hazard.

    Krul(Elliot)
    Clyne Baines Chambers(Moore,Duff)
    Siggy Fabregas Sanchez ADM(Boyd)
    Pelle Aguero(C) Welbeck

Thinking of saving FT this week then I do Welbeck, Pelle, Fab--> Rooney, Austin, 8.5 mid for -4. Your opinions are welcomed 🙂

    Good to go?

    Schmeichel
    Hutton Clyne Chambers Naylor
    Sanchez Hazard Chadli Sigurdsson
    Austin Aguero

Tadic Baines and Sakho on the bench.

Why don't you field Baines and Sakho and then have two defenders as first up subs?

Im not sure they're 100% out and even if they are then the other players will come off of the bench anyway, you'd kick yourself if Baines played and got a goal or assist + bps

I regret my 2 early transfers... with all those injuries.

I don't know what to do with this lot:

    Guzan
    Baines* Azpi Dummett
    Hazard Chadli Sanchez Downing*
    Costa Aguero Sakho*

    Bench: Foster Hutton Moore Obertan*

Already did 2 transfer for -4pts 🙁 and 0.4 ITB

If Moore starts this GW I would play 443 hoping Sakho will play. What would you do?

With either Collocini or Taylor injured all the time, Dummett is nailed either at either CB or LB. Haidara won't start ahead of him. Santon has been injured for so long that even if he returns probably won't be match fit until new year.

Wait for Tadic news. If he's injured Tadic ➡ Hazard. If he's fit sort out that defence. Upgrade one of those jokers to someone like Azpi. Next GW downgrade Bertrand ➡ Yun.

Funny you ask, I'm addicted to Chess.com. More so than FPL usually 🙂

Anyway, yeah some great viewing. I love following Magnus's play, pretty said it ended in a draw though. The complexities & thought process behind every move Magnus makes, it's truly a delight to watch.

Gives my buddy Fisher a run for his money 😉

I couldn't watch yesterday and I haven't had a look at the game yet but it was over so fast?
I was a bit surprised that Anand would "accept" a draw so early, but I guess he had no choice.

That documentary about Fisher, "Bobby Fischer Against the World", I would recommend to anyone BTW, very interesting.

          • 9 Years

I can see why Anand would accept to be fair, it seems that w/ Magnus in the lead he's been waiting for Anand to over extend himself & blunder. This was the perfect game for Anand to "punt" if you will & go for the win, he was in no position to exert authority over the game.

That's the game Mangnus will roll with it seems, no reason not to. Over thinking leads many astray in these series, usually astray to defeat 😉

Aye, great film. What that man started was truly a work of art. Pretty sad seeing a hometown hero go down like that though.

Well, I don't know about your def issues, but the ticker says:

          LEIC/swans/BURN/eve/WBA/ars/CP/SWANS ...for Austin.

That ain't bad for 5.8m striker on penalties and in form.

I prefer Austin as he's the main man at QPR and on pens to boot.

I know that ADM has had insane assists numbers over the years.

But was surprised to see that he only scored 29 goals in 200 league games over 7 years for Benfica and Real.

never scored more than 7 goals in the league a season.

He has improved since his days in Benfica. In Real he always played the 2nd fiddle role. He'll score around 10 goals this season I think.

He's an assister, not a goal scorer.

        Sanchez and Haz for goals.
        Fab and ADM for assists.

ADM shoots more often than Cesc. He'll match or can do even better than Eden for goals from open play this season.

I don't know, he has improved as a footballer for sure and is class, but even at Real he only scored 1 goal every 6 games. that is also his career average.

    B) Chambers(MUN)

Hutton IMO, less threat than AdM & Co, though you could argue it'll be the tighter game of the two.
I'd throw Hutton in first, even if he doesn't play I'd put him ahead of Chambers.

    4. Aaron Ramessi - Straya

A imo...Chambers up against AdM is a yellow card waiting to happen...and the defence is so poor

Ah, great point AR. Individually Chambers will definitely struggle w/ the one-on-one vs AdM, who offers more threat than that of Montero.

Though this game could very well be tight. both managers opting to put the breaks on.
        Interesting dilemma this

But even if Hutton is fit Senderos and Vlaar are not.
And Villa has a decent chance of letting in two or more goals.

Did you watch the United game last week? Against Palace? At home?
        I'd still play Chambers.
But it's not an easy decision of course.

You can of course do what you want and we can cherry pick data all day and get different results and even so the game is very unpredictable so anyhting can happen but the Arsenal CS odds are at 21/10 and Villa's are 10/3 and they seem fine to me.

Dzzz, Got a feeling this is going to be a rough team for my weak.

    krul
clyne chester chambers --- yun naylor ---- def apart from clyne has really tough fixtures
adm tadic* siggy sanchez --- arfield*
    costa kun sakho*

    * = players with doubts, biggest concern being sakho and bench player also a doubt

    A: chester >> 5m def (rose/duff)
    B: chester + tadic >> azpi + chadli / barkley (-4)
C: arfield >> boyd...saves 0.6 for the long term, seems like a wasted ft though
D: save FT as i am not totally comfortable with any of the three above

I think I might be in trouble if Baines and Saylor are out this GW

    ........Fab.........
    Baines Saylor Clyne
    Hazard Sanchez Downing Siggy
    ...Pelle Costa Aguero

    Subs McCarthy Chambers Boyd Moore

I've gone -4 to get Costa in this GW I really hope Baines plays...please!! He's 50/50 right?

If Tadic is confirmed out or listed as a major doubt I've to decide between these 2 options. It's for a hit.

Short term, Costa is the easy skipper option for this week. Siggy has a very tough fixture, unlikely to score from open-play. Though I can see Bony/Gomis causing havoc in the City backline. & this very well could be Siggy's week nod an assist or two w/ the latter scoring.

Costa wins the forward battle by a landslide, but Sanchez does have a very nice defense to bully & a lost one at that. Can Carrick somehow mitigate Sanchez? Is there really anyone w/ enough pace or tact to stop this man in the United backline? Captaincy option compared to Costa is not there IMO, because these are questions I'm asking compared to Costa, who you have an answer with 😉

The budget options are tricky though, Austin could very well score vs an injured ridden Newcastle core, though they're still in-form, & injuries & doubts did not stop them from bagging CS's these last few weeks. I fancy Newcastle to hold firm & Pardew to emphasize holding the midfield all the day long, I'd be more worry of Vargas breaking up play this week from the flanks. His pace he brings down the right could very well lead to their demise in the midfield.

I already said my part on Siggy, yes he does poses a big threat this week. City is not impervious in the back, this is proven. The odds for me are leaning towards option B, both long term options as well & are currently front runners to outscore for me this week.

Austin holds good value & has pens, but Costa is the skipper of the week (bar Kun) & Siggy is no one to look down on.

Pelle & Tadic to Austin & Hazard. (-4)
    Thoughts please.
Yes, it's a week earlier to do business on Koeman's heroes but simply can't think going without Hazard with the underlying stats he possess & kind run of fixtures. Should transfer them out anyway in coming weeks, so Just hoping Saints will have quiet outing at Aston Villa.Plus both form & fixture suggesting Austin as the perfect choice to lead the line alongside two heavy weights Aguerro & Costa.
