Frisking the Fixtures – Gameweek 13 – The Weak

After taking a look at those clubs with kind upcoming schedules yesterday evening, we turn our attentions to those with some tough fixtures to follow. Trouble could be brewing for the Tyne-Wear duo, whilst the Saints’ recent rise to prominence is set to be put to the test.

Sunderland

“frisking

Unbeaten in their last three, the Black Cats will need to retain that recent resilience to navigate a tricky fixture list. Gus Poyet’s side entertain Chelsea, Man City and West Ham in the next four – the three highest scoring away sides in the league so far.

With a trip to Liverpool also to consider in the next four, the Wearsiders will surely remain off Fantasy radars for now. At the back, Costel Pantilimon has earned 14 points in three starts since taking over from Vito Mannone and will at least offer save point potential, whilst Steven Fletcher faces a tough task to continue the form which has brought four goals and an assist in his last six appearances.

Stoke

“frisking

Last weekend’s home defeat to Burnley is hardly ideal preparation for what’s to follow. With his injury-hit defence conceding in each of the last six and key winger Victor Moses out for up to eight weeks, Mark Hughes has his work cut out to steer Stoke up the table over the next few matches.

The Potters will be looking for Bojan to maintain the form that has earned him a goal, assist and four bonus points in the last two matches, but with showdowns against Liverpool, Man United, Arsenal, Chelsea and Everton in the next six Gameweeks alone, Hughes is afforded little reason for festive cheer right now.

Newcastle

“frisking

The league’s form side have now won five on the spin and collected four clean sheets over that period but whether they can prevail over an evil fixture schedule is perhaps debatable.

Alan Pardew’s side travel to West Ham, Arsenal and United in the next six, and with Chelsea paying visit, in addition to a derby showdown with Sunderland, it leaves only a Gameweek 14 trip to Burnley looking full of promise. Budget option Paul Dummett and raiding right-back Daryl Janmaat may struggle to serve up the defensive returns, whilst further up the field, the cut-price duo Moussa Sissoko and Ayoze Perez could have their current form curtailed.

Also Be Wary Of…

Southampton
Sitting second in the table after 13 rounds of fixtures, Ronald Koeman’s side now present us with the classic case of form against fixtures. A defence that has conceded a single goal in their last five now squares up to City, Arsenal, United and Everton in the next five – Nathaniel Clyne and Ryan Bertrand are amongst the four most popular defenders in the Fantasy Premier League game but their owners may find returns slowing over this period, with many looking for a way out. The erratic Dusan Tadic, with eight blanks in 12 appearances, and the off-form Graziano Pelle – without a shot on target in the last four and just one booking shy of a ban – may well be set for an exodus as the returns dry up.

Hull
The short-term schedule is unrelenting on Steve Bruce’s out-of-sorts side, with Hull travelling to United, Everton and Chelsea in the next four Gameweeks. With just one goal and a single point to their name over the last four, the Tigers will need to dig deep to get anything from those matches – Bruce will be hoping the fit-again pair Nikica Jelavic and Michael Dawson can make a difference at both ends of the pitch but the KC pickings look slim to none right now.

Crystal Palace
Victories against the likes of Everton and Liverpool show that, on their day, Neil Warnock’s side can mix it with the best of them. Palace will need to carry on from the form that swept aside the Reds last Sunday, though, as they now face trips to Swansea, Spurs and City, in addition to the visit of Southampton over the next six. Home encounters with Villa and Stoke still look promising for key man Yannick Bolasie, whilst Mile Jedinak’s dead-ball duties continue to keep the Eagles skipper in contention as a valid budget option.

Going off the grid for the weekend and will have zero cell phone coverage. Must pick my captain now!

    Who would you captain:

    A) Kun
    B) Austin
    C) AdM
    D) Sanchez
    E) Fab

    Armband currently on AdM.

Would you be tempted to wildcard if your team looked like this:

    Begovic* // Myhill*
    Lovren* // Chester* // Moore* // Bertrand* // Naylor
    Brady* // Sanchez // Tadic* // Hazard // Boyd
    Aguero // Sakho* // Costa

My logic is that the Jan WC is 9-10 weeks away, I pick a team from now till then to claw back points in my minileagues..

WC team would look something like:

    Foster // Adrian
    Yun // Taylor // Wisdom // Hutton // Blackett
Siggy // Sanchez // Hazard or ADM // Sissoko or Jedinak // Boyd
    Costa // Aguero // Bony

If I WC i could also get Austin for Bony/Costa and upgrade DEF as another option.

think you do need to WC but not mad on your WC team. it is very weak at the back and GK combo is to expensive.

with such a cheap defence you should have a much stronger front 7.

        also is Blackett nailed on?

        which Taylor is it??

Naylor is the def.. Could go Austin over Bony and upgrade...

Who would be WC preferences for the next 10 weeks??

          Thanks for feedback

maybe a Chelsea defender, you can defo d/g your keepers to cheaper combo. or go ultra cheap with a Krul/Elliot type pairing....

the classic Austin vs Bony debate! it's a tough call and one I can't for my own team. my thinking is if the extra funds can get you a chelsea defender maybe it's worth going Austin. QPR don't score a lot but you would think Austin will be on the end of most of their goals.

                no problem.

can you get someone like Azpil for Blackett if you have Austin?

and are you happy playing Sissoko/Jed every week? think you might need a stronger 4th mid if you can get one. it's hard to find one at the moment though with downing and chadli injured

                  Ive moved to this now..

                  Foster / Myhill
                  Yun / Naylor / Hutton / Dummett / Blackett****
                  Sterling / Sanchez / Hazard / Siggy / Boyd
                  Aguero / Austin / Costa

This leaves 0.1 in the bank...

Other option is Sterling to Jedinak/Sissoko and Dummet to Clichy/Cresswell

                  Any thoughts??

To be honest it's a good side, I'd be looking to replace Moore for a starter and find a way of getting Costa in for Welbeck, although you have Hazard in to soften the blow.

If you have 0 FT left then I wouldn't be taking a hit this week though. Save.

That's why I put him third on my list. As an assured striker he would rival any pick in the game for the next two weeks as (c). LVG is an ass to play him in midfield.

I was furious to see AdM playing ahead of him. And then Wilson, FFS. But he still did the business. In the hole isn't exactly in midfield.

In the hole is certainly better than CDM for sure. It'll be interesting to see what LVG does with RVP now...what do you think he will do?

Worst case scenario for United is that he pops a goal in every third or fourth game or so and limps along...fine on the face of it but his contribution to the team is getting really poor now. Compare his overall performance to maybe Sanchez or Aguero (or Rooney even) and he's looking distinctly second rate.

Best replacements for Pellé and Kaboul?

    Current team:

    Forster / Heaton
    Bertrand / Kaboul / Chambers / Duff / Moore
Sanchez / Di Maria / Sigurdsson / Downing / Boyd
    Aguero / Costa / Pellé

I'm thinking of replacing Kaboul with either Baines, or a Chelsea defender (which one?)

And who to get in up front? Austin, Ings, Sakho and Kane seem to be the main budget options.

So, took over my wife's team after she failed to set up a team for the first time in years.

Started from gw2 and its gone pretty well. 2nd in the world in the gameweek 2 league (ok, so it's a league bereft of the most serious players I assume), 5700 overall and, the reason for this post -

Sitting 12th in the world for November, so have a wee shot at manager of the month.

It's a big game-week, so any transfer/benching advice much appreciated!

Given the situation am quite prepared to think about a one week wonder. May take one hit if anyone can suggest two must-haves.

    Krul (Jakupovic)
    Clyne Baines Trippier (Hutton Dummett)
    Sanchez Fabregas Tadic Sigurdsson Downing
    Costa Aguero (Vardy)

    1ft 0.5
Vardy to Kane, Downing to Someone were on my mind, but they hardly seem the killer moves needed.

    Kurl Elliot
    Baines clyne chambers Hutton wisdom

    BEGOVIC, Elliot
    BAINES, Azpilicueta, COLOCCINI, Wisdom, Duff
Sanchez, Di Maria, CHADLI, Sigurdsson, Jones
    Aguero, Costa, Austin
    1FT, £0 ITB

    Worth a wildcard?
The attack and midfield is mostly where I want it but Coloccini is out and Baines & Chadli unlikely to play. Begovic desperately needs to move on too.

    Current team for GW13:
    Bego - (Jakupovic)
    Baines - Naylor - Moreno - Duff - (Clyne)
    Sanchez(c) - ADM - Sig - Downing - (king)
    Aguero - Costa - (Sahko)

    For a -4 I can do:
    1. Bego, moreno, sahko -> Guzan, chambers, Austin?
    2. Bego, clyne, moreno -> Guzan, Azpi, chambers?
    3. Other?

If I do #1, I can do clyne -> Azpi next week too. Good moves? I'm relying on Baines and downing to be fit

Can you not just do Begovic & Sakho out for Guzan (my preference would be Fabianksi) & Austin?

Not sure it's worth the -4 to shift Moreno this week.

I don't have the cash for Bego & Sahko -> Fabianski & Austin. Can do straight swap for Guzan & Austin though

That makes sense then. It's essentially your first move but having Moreno +4pts over Chambers.

Personally I can't see Chambers out scoring Moreno by enough to warrant the hit.

Giroud not worth the extra over Austin IMO.

It's easier if you simplify it to:

      A: Azpilicueta, Bartley, Giroud
      B: Baines, Duff, Austin

I'd probably take A (given Baines unlikely to start) with Bony over Giroud.

Thoughts on Kane? Very tempting at that price, and seems to score more goals than the other Spurs forwards, so I don't really see why he won't keep his place in the short-term at least.

Playing in a keeper league where no player can be owned by more than one person

Would you swap Siggy for ADM? Assuming you have no Utd and Bony in your squad?

Can you just get Austin and Costa?

This front 7 might happen for me later this week depending on Baines:

Sigurdsson Di Maria Hazard Sanchez (C)
    Aguero Costa (v) Austin

That would fill me with a lot of confidence. Not owning Rooney is nice for now. If Costa or Aguero get injured or banned getting Rooney is very simple. My midfielders aren't as injury/ban prone so I prefer having three premium midfielders with goals in them.

In a similar position, likely backline?

        Dummet Taylor Wisdom Clyne Moore

0.5M ITB to upgrade the defence

Can upgrade Moore the week after. Defence rotates nicely.

Nice, only 2 similar here(Wisdom & Clyne). Baines' replacement(£4.8m), Chambers & Hutton are the others, need to sort that out soon though, as well as Begovic.
