The FFE £2500 Festive Challenge

A few weeks back we gave a shout-out to Fantasy Football Exchange, a new and fresh-faced weekly Fantasy Football experience. The guys behind the game kindly set up a Fantasy Football Scout league for Gameweek 12 with a £500 prize pot and a good number of you landed a nice little earner from it.

Now Fantasy Football Exchange are gearing up for the frantic next few weeks with a special Christmas tournament.

The £2500 Guaranteed Festive Challenge is a four-Gameweek long league which costs just £5 to enter. That’s a guaranteed prize pot, although that can rise even further as the entrant number increase.

The rules are simple: the ‘£2500 Guaranteed Festive Challenge’ runs from Gameweek 17 – 20 (starting December 20 and ending after the New Year’s Day fixtures), and you’ll be able to make unlimited transfers between now and when the league starts. Once it’s underway, you’ll have FOUR transfers available in total.

This is not a ‘winner takes all’ league, but one with a ‘sliding scale’ structure – so ALL the top finishers will scoop a slice of the prize pot.

Fantasy Football Exchange is a breeze to pick up, mainly because, at its core, the game is based on a similar ruleset to the Fantasy Premier League model we know and love. With very similar pricing, it’s a good bet that you’ll even be able to turn your current FPL squad into your FFE lineup.

There are some key differences, however. Firstly, FFE recognises that even the likes of Karl Henry deserve some love and have beefed up the points potential of defensive midfielders. The FFE bonus points are also allocated by collating the player rankings from three national papers to give our overall marks – arguably a fairer method of finding the top three players from each match.

If you missed out in Gameweek 12, you’ve every incentive to get involved ahead of this weekend and put yourself in the hat for a piece of that £2500.

Look out for FFE’s preview of the tournament over on their blog on Friday; we’ll be publishing the FFS squad on our social channels prior to the weekend deadline.

For more information visit FFE here.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Evening all,

Asked this earlier and A) was the resounding winner.

However, having to bench Siggy (hul) this week and then having to start Austin (ars) next week doesn't feel great, and after checking the RMT tool B) actually comes out by far the best move [given I plan to wildcard on 1 Jan as I still have the other WC so I think this makes sense]. B) also leaves my options open to a mid-top priced striker next week as Dzeko's replacement.

And then there's saving, which may be a good idea given my front 7 are decent this week so I can afford to just bench Dzeko and then have 2 freebies to use next week once we know how MCY are going to line up in attack with no strikers.

    Thoughts?

    A) Dzeko -> Austin
    B) Chambers -> Zaba
    C) Save

    Hart
    Terry, Yun, Wisdom
    Hazard, Sanchez, Eriksen, Downing, Siggy
    Costa, Kane

    Elliot, Chambers, Hutton, Dzeko
    Bank 3.4m, 1 freebie

Well, B) is a no-no for me, as you have Hart.

      A), I like very much.

Policy. Also, too much money. And I am a hypocrite anyway, as I have two Swansea.

            🙂

I don't like that both Austin and Downing have tough games next week. This combined with the fixtures for 4 of my 5 defenders next week makes me think B is the way to go, and then fix Dzeko next week.

Chambers (QPR) - but a good chance he won't start
            Yun (ars)
            Wisdom (MCY)
            Hutton (swa)

Question: Does RMT know that Dzeko is out until January? My vote I think would still be for A, because you may need your bench between now and January 1st and at least Chambers ought to be good for some minutes. (Also, I'd bench Downing next week over Austin)

Yep, I think the issue with A is that my defenders have a few tricky fixtures over the next 4 games and with the rest of my front 7, starting Austin over any of them for his good fixtures doesn't actually improve the projected scores all that much. On the other hand, Zaba is projected to score quite a few more points than Austin over the next 4 and there is a bigger difference between his projected scores and that of my rotating defenders than between Austin and the rest of my front 7.

If I went with B) this week then I'd probably do Dzeko -> Giroud/Tekkers/Lukaku next week so it'd only be this week where I'd only have 7 playing attackers. With Debuchy back and Kos due back soon I fear Chambers may struggle to get many starts going forwards.

I guess that makes sense. If you think Zabs will outscore Austin, then I guess I'd switch my vote to B. I have high hopes for Austin though.

I think both will probably do well, and that in isolation Austin is a great pick this week. The issue is when considering it with the rest of my team.

The RMT tool has Zaba on 18.17 points over the next 4 compared to 14.98 for Austin.

      Dzeko to Giroud.

You'll be able to play Giroud and Siggy next week, bench Downing against Chelsea instead of playing Austin vs ars and downing vs CHE. Works rotation wise til gw20 amongst your front 8.

If you think Giroud is nailed on

        Not a bad idea.

I think I'm being swayed by the RMT tool. Starting Zaba over my rotating defenders over the next 4 weeks looks more profitable than starting Giroud over Siggy this week.

Dzeko -> Giroud (or one of the various other options for 9.5m or below looks the way to go I think, even though it is the least popular on here.

          9 years, 6 months ago

Yea. I've posed similar questions and by far Austin is a more popular pick. Doesn't mean the masses are wrong, but just depends on your gut I guess. Just feel more comfortable with a pure striker from a top side. Just my style of play I guess. Austin has proven he's a good homeboy though.

**Sorry that wasn't completely clear - I mean Dzeko -> Giroud (or one of the various other options for 9.5m or below) NEXT WEEK looks the way to go I think, even though it is the least popular on here.

ie Chambers -> Zaba for this week

Why not do it now? Don't see any reason against doing it now. Just a few points in it anyway. Your call.

But the rotation between siggy downing eriksen giroud/Austin over the next 4/5 look better with giroud than Austin.

Yep, I agree with that, although I probably shouldn't be benching an 8m+ player at all.

I think its a good move, just think the Zaba move is a little better based on the rest of my squad. Close call though.

                Thanks for the replies!

Check out the rotation. Won't have to bench giroud. Just have to bench eriksen against Chelsea. But yea make the call from a holistic perspective.

Help me spend 4.5M NEXT WEEK:

    Pantilimon | Elliot
    Baines | Clichy | Taylor | Chambers | Wisdom
    Sanchez | Hazard | Eriksen (V) | Sigurdsson | Marney
    Diego Costa | Carroll (C) | Austin

I am currently thinking Marney --> Sterling.

I do have no CITY though.

Rare position of not knowing what to do this week.

    Hart (McCarthy)
    Azpi Clyne Cresswell (Chambers, Duff)
    Hazard Yaya Sanchez Downing (Boyd)
    Costa Bony Austin

0.5 in the bank. 1 FT.

I know my defence needs some work but I'm tempted just to go with that back three this week so I have more room to manoeuvre with two FTs next week (assuming all goes well).

Sit tight or shift Clyne out to a 5.9 or below defender this week? And if so, who?

    Tough one. Thanks!
