FFS Paddy Power Cup X – Sixth Round Draw

This evening, we roll out the sixth round draw of the Fantasy Football Scout Cup X, as sponsored by Paddy Power, and look back at the conclusion to the fifth round ties.

Jimbojunior emerged as the top scoring manager in the Gameweek 19 match-ups, with a score of 54 points earning him £25 worth of free bets with Paddy Power and a round six showdown with Dub. Another high scorer was Mediocre Men, whose tally of 53 points proved too much for Granville’s score of 35.

Among the remaining 32 managers who made it through to the sixth round, as many as 13 are in the top 1,000. Never Trust Lukaku continues to be the competition’s highest ranked manager – he sits in 10th overall and faces Aaron Ramessi in round six.

Other notable round six ties are round four’s highest scorer United Nations, who faces HVT. Meanwhile, Gimli son of Gloin takes on Luke Costello, who is 42nd overall and the second highest ranked manager remaining in the tournament.

The full list of fifth round results can be found here, while the sixth round draw in full can be found here.

Good luck to those involved in the weekend’s action. In the meantime, though, if you’re looking for more information on the Scout Cup schedule and prizes available, click this link for a more thorough rundown.

So the year is nearly up. Roughly halfway through the season

How are we all feeling about it?
    Lessons learned?
Change of tactics for the second half or make the same mistakes?

Tryin not to set team up looking too far in advance. Planning for future transfers that usually don't happen kills your GW points. Just pick form players with good fixtures

Good question horse! Been good so far but also been very lucky with auto bench points!

I'm finally top of the Crystal Palace league which is nice 🙂 won't last though strong global league

First season for me, trying to find a way to make the most of my Jan WC & my default WC.

Lessons learned? To go with my gut, don't try to rationalize what the conservative move would be, but focus on who will get me the most points in the long haul. Take price into account when holding unto players, (i.e Siggy blanks vs RvP blanks), the cheaper is less risk averse while the more expensive premium players have to be dealt with ASAP.

Save more FT's, monitor the top 10k differentials & prospects who are back from injury.
Avoid defensive transfers when possible & try to find a way on breaking into the top 1k after the season ends (currently 48k)

sounds like you are on track, if this is your first season. top 1k will come it just takes some consistency of sensible decisions (including C choices) and some luck, although 'luck' comes to those who put themselves in the right position for it if you know what i mean

Aye, my default RvP captaincy for the last 3 GW's (was awol) definitely didn't help.
Apart from Austin/Aguero, capping my forwards has never reaped me many rewards.

Good point on the luck part, got Jovetic in this w/e & am hoping for the best that he's a bandwagon waiting to happen 😉

Safer to go with either Austin or Silva.

Fantasy football just isn't what it was last season IMO.

Maybe it's just because the overall standard of the league has gone down, I dunno. Less flair picks and any deviation from the template is punished severely.

Tbh, I'm not sure what it is but every time I look at my team, I think think 'meh'.

I think the overall standard has gone up if anything.

I've been going my own flair way all the season and am firmly inside the top 1k.

But I, too, think 'meh' every time I look at your team. So agreed on that. 😉

You think the standard of football has gone up? Can't say I agree with that.

I'd argue that there are more people doing this seriously every year, this year included. And probably (this can be checked) more people doing relatively well and being still in contention than before.

I'm not sure though, do you mean the standard of the actual Premier League? Not the Fantasy football?

          1. Captain Shirokov
            • 12 Years
            9 years, 5 months ago

I mean the actual standard of the league, hence affecting the available players in FPL.

              9 years, 5 months ago

I would agree that PL has lost a few stars recently without getting as big new ones. However, the league is also more even than before, which for me makes it more interesting.

This aside from Chelsea being way above all others. Remove those party spoilers, and it's pretty even.

                  • 12 Years
                  9 years, 5 months ago

It is pretty even, but that's mainly down to teams like United, Spurs, Arsenal and Liverpool all getting worse. Even Everton this season.

                    • 10 Years
                    9 years, 5 months ago

Maybe, but it is more even nevertheless, which makes the league interesting, as you cannot just expect the likes of ManU, Arsenal, or Tottenham to win against Southampton, Swans, West Ham or Newcastle.

Is it because the template team has worked well so far, then after the jan WC it will all be the same but after that there is scope for flair picks? prob not.

I'm better off rank wise now than I was at the same stage last season but I'm not enjoying it as much..The lack of price rise/falls killed some of the joy for me early on..I liked nothing more than taking a -4 on a Saturday evening knee jerking a player or 2 in only to have the anxious wait all week to see if they made to the following gw..I feel I'm more patient(boring) now waiting until Friday to make my transfer

I think the opposite. Two factors: more even actual league and slower price changes, make the game more interesting, because there are more ways to make points than before, which favours flair management.

Really? Have you checked recent "any changes required" posts?

So many of them have Sanchez, Austin, Hutton, Che def, City defender, Kane, Downing etc.

There is a small group of 10-12 players that make up 7-8 players in most teams. That is template.

E for a hit, you will also need to get rid of Bony after the next GW.
Either way, a hit will have to come this week or next week to get rid of deadwood & maximize your points potential

If YYT's ok, you might be better off with the Oscar --> Sterling move only this week for free
Then next week I'd get Hazard for his home fixture & probably (c).
The hit would then take place to remove Bony for whoever you feel will net you more points long/short term depending on your WC plans

No cash in the bank but saved 2 transfers to get rid bony & yaya next week. Not sure whether to downgrade bony to a 7.1 striker with Eriksen > Silva and use the two now? Any ideas on other moves maybe? Fabregas will be going in for Yaya next week. This is all assuming Yaya fit.

    Fabianski (Heaton)

    Terry Hutton Coleman (Caulker, Bertrand)

    Yaya Siggy Sanchez Eriksen (Boyd)

    Austin (C) Costa Bony

Nailed on to start the next game. Playing up top for City, as a proper forward.
Dzeko and Aguero not back in the near future.

Ivan downgrade seems the better move, & don't get all worked up over City "cover"

Worst case scenario you're with no City cover this GW, & next week you'll have a better idea of how Jovetic's playing up front & could be the easier route into the City attack

I'd lose Moore to give maximum cover against rotations. Burnley defence looks fair until your WC.
I'd go Trippier to give assist chances too, but he is more expensive than the others.
