Scout Notes

Scout Notes – Gameweek 19 – Monday

Adam Lallana scores twice as Liverpool ease past Swansea at Anfield. Alberto Moreno, Jordan Henderson and Philippe Coutinho all serve up the points, whilst Gylfi Sigurdsson prods home the visitors’ consolation.

Lallana at the Double

The summer signing threw his hat in the ring as a viable differential for our five-man midfields by bagging a brace in last night’s comprehensive 4-1 win. Fielded on the right of a front three once again, Lallana has started each of the last six Gameweeks and, with three strikes and an assist over that period, he is becoming increasingly influential in Brendan Rodgers’ 3-4-3 formation. Certainly, at a cost of 8.3, he’s far from budget friendly but the Reds upcoming fixtures (LEI, sun, avl, WHM) looks set to bring their main men onto our radars as they belatedly hit their stride.

Henderson in the Points as Rodgers Rings the Changes

Rodgers’ decision to make four alterations saw Steven Gerrard drop to the bench as the versatile Henderson moved into central midfield, allowing Javier Manquillo the right wing-back berth. Handed a share of set-pieces in his captain’s absence, Henderson laid on two of his side’s goals – taking his tally to three assists in the last trio of matches.

At 6.0, the former Sunderland man is a lot easier on the budget than the likes of Lallana, Raheem Sterling and Philippe Coutinho ahead of the kind run of matches and looks nailed on, regardless of formation. Coutinho also ticked over by picking up an assist last night, whilst Sterling, in spite of an impressive shift through the centre, delivered a frustrating blank after hitting the woodwork twice.

Rodgers’ tinkering also saw Alberto Moreno get amongst the goals. Fielded as a left wing-back, the Spaniard’s opener served notice of his possible out-of-position potential, though it remains to be seen whether he can nail down a regular role – he’d started just two of the seven league outings prior to last night. Elsewhere at the back for Rodgers’ side, Martin Skrtel earned a fifth caution of the campaign, meaning he’ll miss Thursday’s clash with the Foxes.

Siggy Remedies Travel Sickness

Whilst Wilfried Bony served up a blank before being subbed off on the hour mark, the Swansea midfielder notched for the second successive Gameweek. Sold by over 200,000 Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers in the last 10 days, Sigurdsson’s failure to produce attacking returns in each of his previous six road trips saw him take a place on many a Fantasy manager’s bench last night – many were left ruing that decision after a close-range effort spoiled the Reds’ clean sheet and took him up to fourth in the FPL midfield standings.

With Bony set to leave imminently for the Africa Cup of Nations, there were concerns over the Icelandic international’s points potential, but judging by the last two matches, it seems he’s found his scoring touch just in time to cushion the blow of the Ivorian’s departure.

I think that Wenger will play Walcott or Chamberlain and then Sánchez up front, not Sanogo, so yes.

    ::::: Dead Team Challenge - GW19 Leaderboard Updated :::::

Apologies, it's been a few weeks since my last update...

Woeisme is still the leader with 1047pts at the half way mark, which is roughly 35k overall...

Our perennial contender The Casual has lost his way somewhat and is back in 6th on 1005pts, with Mull stumbling back to 4th after his breakout performances, sitting on 1010pts...

Two new faces that deserve a mention are Kroos Ctrl and That Wolves Culture, who between them share 2nd and 3rd spot respectively on 1022 and 1011pts....

I also wanted to congratulate the 7 players who scored over 100pts last week in the DTC... Bojan Ye Gud Ting, Butters, Eljinj, LvlrHotShot, SpartaBhoy, Tiger and Vildinho... well done lads...

Please click on this link for the latest GW19 leaderboard:
    https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1raAyvT8NYalwe4_-1EqJZBOOcbwjmixKpFu18ySKGVQ/edit#gid=1316772556

You can also click on the 'teams' tab and scroll through to check your team individually... the teams are listed alphabetically so that should make it easier to navigate...

And finally, a huge thank you to Billy (who is now 10th btw 😯 ) for his continued work behind the scenes, without his ongoing tech support I doubt I'd be able to do any of this in a timely manner, if at all...

    Thanks...

A tournament I started at the beginning of the season whereby everyone picks a team within the normal constraints: 100m, only 3 players from a team, VC & C etc... and that's it... no transfers or anything...

        Essentially a dead team...

I'd be tempted with Azpi out, I got rid of him a few weeks ago for Terry as rotation was worrying me and Mourinho loves to go defensive towards the end of the game so I would find myself worrying about a 1pt sub appearance even when he didn't start.

I'd defo do 1 anyway so you have 2 freebies next week

    Fab Sanchez Downing Siggy Lampard

    Costa Austin Welbeck

Siggy and Downing also seem solid to me and dont want to lose either of them…

    A) Clyne Lampard Welbeck --> Hutton Silva Barnes (-8)
    B) Hutton and Barnes this GW and Silva next GW.(-4)
    C) Clyne --> Hutton this GW.

    Hart 4.0

Zab Baines Hutton ( Clyne Duff)

    Yaya Sterling Hazz Sanchez Siggy

    Kane Austen Sakhoo

    2FT , 1.3 ITB

If yayas out i know i should probably do yaya to silva (c) but what i really want to do is yaya to lallana and Sakho to Jovetic (c) 🙂 I really wouldnt mind doubling up on liverpool attack at the mo and jovetic should be nailed for the next 3/4 until dzeko and aguero get back. Also even if yaya is back isnt this his last game anyways ?

Should I do panti and Yaya to Courteous and Fab for free?

    Panti Gilks
    Chambers Hutton Dummett Naylor Bertrand
    Sanchez Silva Siggy Albrighton Yaya
    Kane Costa Rooney

    Or should I look elsewhere?

Fix Chambers this week and move Yaya next week (assuming he's fit)

Don't use a Chelsea spot on a GK. Plus Yaya might play and has a better fixture than fab

As much as they got tonked last night, Fernandez showed enough to suggest Austin wont get a damn thing out of him. Will be a mismatch, international class vs plodder class.

I'd be happier benching Austin than captaining.

I have Vargas, Austin and Bony.

    A) Play 5 midfielders (Downing, Siggy, Silva, Fab and Sánchez) and bench Vargas;
    B) Sell Vargas (I will buy Ayoze) and bench Siggy.

    Choose, pls.

I can't think this is just bad luck
    Any ideas to fix it?

As long as it is a sensible option each week then it is probably just bad luck. Just keep picking the sensible option and you should be rewarded.

Have 2 FT and not really anything I need to change atm, when Yaya is fit. So my question would what team will most likely keep a clean sheet this week? I am going double Villa + Swansea in def. Was thinking of Collins against WBA because Tomkins is suspended. After that going to do 2 transfers Yaya out for someone and Chelsea def in. Sounds good?

Somehow it doesn't feel like a proper win. But losing to one is crushing.
