Like many others I am trying to decide when to play my Jan WC. Current squads will of course play a factor, but assuming you are reasonable happy with yours I have noted a few pros for each week:

    GW23:
    - 2 week period (minimise adverse price movements)
    - fixtures swing for a few teams (good for ARS, MUN, SOT, SUN, STO, bad for WHU, TOT)
    - will see nearly all of the actual Jan transfers

    GW24:
    - an extra week to gather data, eg late new signings, players returning from ACON, injuries and players that look good but have question marks over starting roles (Bellerin, Ospina, Baird etc)
    - can wait until after che to load up on MCY players (Aguero)

For me, whilst my squad looks alright on paper, I want to make quite a few changes. In particular I only have 1 starter in total from the 5 teams above with good fixtures, and with a few tricky fixtures up next, triple Spurs and Downing needs fixing:

    Lloris, Elliot
    Baines, Terry, Chambers, Wisdom, Hutton
    Sanchez, Hazard, Silva, Eriksen, Downing
    Costa, Kane, Austin

    Bank 0.0m, 1 FT, 2 WCs

I'm wc'ing over these two weeks - will take a punt on Falcao for 1 week, then transfer in Kun with FT after - all dependent on who missed out in gw27.

          Yup.

Could be carnage - I'm considering dropping all my Chelsea players on wc if they progress to the C1C final.

            Hang on.

Will we know the likely blankers in GW27 by the GW23 deadline also?

Surely it makes sense to keep the blankers but have a stronger bench? DGWers down the line etc.

Yes that is sensible though if it is a Chelsea v Spurs final it will be very difficult for most of us to run out eleven for that blank gameweek.

    Foster - Myhill
    Terry - Clyne - Wisdom - Muniesa - PVA
    Sanchez - Hazard - Eriksen - Puncheon - JWP
    Aguero - Costa - Kane

    Couple of questions..

    a) Eriksen or Cazorla/Oscar/Sterling

    b) Is Puncheon a viable 4th mid for a couple of weeks?

    c) Any other necessary changes you can see?

Team as is with 1FT & £1.8 saved
      WC or hold?

      Panti
      Terry, Koscielny, Wisdom
      Sánchez, Downing, Hazard, Chadli
      Agüero, Austin, Kane

      (Alnwick, Silva, Clichy, Hutton)

If I just use a FT thinking
      Silva ➡ Cazorla/ADM for a punt
(if I want Costa GW24 then it has to be Puncheon/Elia).

No you cannot. I can afford a pretty tidy overall team anyway with Costa and Aguero at this stage in the season. I'd been without Costa for the vast, vast majority of the season.

      Good night folks;

Best option on WC? 10.5 to spend on Fwd/Mid combo

      Pants/Krul
      Terry/Bertrand/Wolschied/Bellerin/Baird
      Hazard/Sanchez/Di Maria/______/Boyd
      Costa/Aguero/_____

      A) Bojan & Puncheon
      B) Gayle & Elia
      C) Too weak to rely on every gw - go back to the drawing board

Given they're the same price Foster v Panti seems like a tough call. But I think for me, Panti shades it due to saves as at least 3 of the WBA back 4 have decent attacking threat and the 4th is dirt cheap whilst really the only Sunderland defender worth having is PvA.

Frankly I think I'd feel far more comfortable with Panti and say Lescott every week as opposed to Foster and trying to rotate PvA as with the former you cover any unexpected CS plus you won't miss any goals/assists whereas Foster doesn't get as many saves and if you rotate PvA you may miss the attacking points

Or you just ignore the probably insane ramblings of someone who should be in bed

That is a sound argument, JK. I have been waffling and I think I will just stick with Foster and Myhill. They will keep unexpected cleans. I also have a feeling Sunderland will open up a bit more against the bottom sides as they really need to start taking three points from those games. Despite the better fixtures I think West Brom will keep more clean sheets.

I think if you have one or the other already, keep it that way. I had neither, so for me it seems better. I agree WBA will probably keep more CS but I will have Lescott basically every week bar City away, so I shouldn't miss any and the attraction of Sunderland keepers has always been save points.

Yeah I suppose that is fair enough. A lot depends on how you can rotate your defenders, though. If you are giving Lescott a start every week spot then you can go on with that strategy but for me I'd rather have Baird coming in and out of the side and having Foster as a stable rock getting the unexpected clean sheets and doubling on them when they have a better fixture. If this makes sense.

Great points JK, agree with everything.

Though I still adhere to the value of PVA, there's just no other cheap defender like him for the goal threat that he provides. I'm ok doubling up on both Sunderland and West Brom for the time being for the sheer reason that I see no one worth getting in either one of the Leicester, Burnley, Hull, or Palace backline.

Granted, it may be risk averse to have so many chickens

I'm doubling on WBA with Lescott/McAuley and Baird. PvA is great value I agree but I'm looking at something like

          Panti/Mannone

          Terry, Kos, Lescott, Baird, Hutton/Stoke

Great shout for Lescott, he could be a massive differential when/if he scores the odd goal, while most would have Wisdom. Good idea though, Stoke cover West Brom well for their tough fixtures

Not too keen on the Saints there JK? Even when Alder's back?

Only got room for one big spot next to JT, it's Saints or Arsenal. Arsenal look like they're hitting form and have slightly better fixtures. I'd like Saints defence but you can't have everyone

Standard topic of debate, am thinking of activating my WC this week and wondered any thoughts on the matter
      Team of
      Panti (Woodman)
      Ivanovic, Bertrand, Bellerin, Baird, Wasilewski
      Sanchez, Hazard, Cazorla, Downing, JWP
      Costa, Kane, Gayle

I love the Gayle punt too but not at the expense of having a planned Aguero transfer. Going without Aguero is a massive risk regardless of opposition and not a risk worth taking for me.

      Decent WC team?

      Foster / Myhill
      Koscielny / Ivanovic / Clyne / Hutton / Baird
      Hazard / Sánchez / Cazorla / Downing / Boyd
      Kane / Agüero / Costa

Costa (c) and I'm still not happy. stupid furkin game.

Another thing... got Kane in this GW for the first time on WC. 2 things are annoying me. His face. And hi stupid high ownership. Screw him, screw Spurs.

Bojan tempting me. Hi all 🙂

        At least you owned Costa!
Kane hit the post and is a better player than Bojan for a better team.

Hi Roy. I feel you with Kane....such a dullard pick at this point. But, the other budget options just pale in comparison to him I can't see past him. I think it would be more fun..or infuriating..to go without Kane just for the differential fun but will not reflect kindly in the standings. Depends what you play the game for I guess!

Hey Roy, great captain choice, took some balls off Baines to pull that one off.

I know how you feel about the Kanemeister, fell into the same trap.
Looking at the their short term run (wba, ARS, liv), I can see blanking in at least 2 of those with all three of those being defense's in-form and tightening up already this latter half of the season.

I would punt on Bojan or Moses big time this GW. Wouldn't be surprised to see Kane blank a couple games in a row from now on and see Bojan usurp the king. Get ready

Lots of shots in the box. Nice fixtures. There's also some nostalgia from all the points he got me after I bought him week 4. I'm not sold on Costa (prefer a defender, Haz and Oscar/Cesc still) so I'm looking at other forward options.

On a wildcard, is my bench good to go or would you play Kane ahead of a defender (probably Cahill)

      Foster

      Bellerín, Jones, Cahill, Clyne

      Hazard, Sánchez, Downing, Cazorla

      Costa, Agüero

      Guzan, Kane, Lucas, Baird

thanks, will play him ahead of Cahill as think City can score at Chelsea and think there is a good chance west ham will score at Anfield. I watched west ham on Sunday and totally different team second half against hull when downing was played at the tip of the diamond - hopefully they will play that shape at Liverpool. Downing got an assist playing out wide at Swansea but that was lucky.

Salvaged a creditable 50 pts in the end after a shocker of a Saturday. Only a stolen penalty away from a red arrow.

Downing > cazorla with my ft for 1 week punt and hopefully 0.2 profit done.
