People sticking up for Naismith and Martinez are missing the point. Sure, they shouldn''t wash their dirty linen in public but to come out with such blatant bs - Naismith even said they did not have a designated penalty taker! 😆 was just embarrassing. They should have simply dodged any questions by saying any issues would be dealt with internally.

he would of named his penalty taker and that player would of taken if the situation arose..

no player would of dared to go against that

Embarrassing. Specially when Naismith started mumbling about Baines missing a penalty vs. United. The guy has scored 15 of 16 penalties. Hard to come a cross a better record.

You'd only do that when you're well ahead in the game and the penalty doesn't matter. Everton are on a horrific run of results, they needed a steady head to take that penalty, but even more so, I needed the points 🙂

Some Baines owners on here seem almost happy to sacrifice the points for the sheer FPL moment this has created. Personally, I prefer the extra 9 points :-).

At least it gives us another anecdote although I'd happily trade that in for the points.

Not just the 9 points BTW, West Brom clean sheet, so a large swing, 13 points.

To think that we have anxiety over 4 point hits

Remember Zlatan did the same thing in a international game for Sweden years ago. Sweden were up by a couple of goals when they got a penalty. Zlatan grabbed the ball and Kim Kallstrom, who normally took the pens went up to him and Zlatan just ignored him.

Zlatan scored the penalty. The whole stadium booed him. And the whole nation turned against him for quite i while.

I look back on earlier in the season when Drogba took a pen off Hazard. How did Jose react? He told Drogba off (but commented that at least he scored) but came out and said publicly that Hazard was the club's penalty taker and would take every pen when he was on the pitch. No pussyfooting around

What was the score at the time? 5-0. Basically the penalty didn't matter.

It didn't, and Drogba asked Hazard if he could take it. Yet Jose still came out and said Hazard should have taken it, and it didn't even matter.

Martinez thinks he's brushed it under the carpet but you can guarantee the press won't let that happen. He's going to have to explain it again and again and you just watch, the story will change a little bit each time.

No. And actually it was Didier's first goal back at the club, one he needed. The previous goal had been his winning 5th penalty in the CL 2012 Final. So no-one could be too annoyed and the crowd loved it of course. He went on a little run of goals after that so it helped the team as well.

A decision made when the team is way ahead by request is completely different to pushing your team-mate (an expert penalty taker) out of the way at 0-0 just to satisfy your own ego. Mirallas is a drag on that club and he thinks he is too good to play there anyway. SAF would have him out of the door quick and that's what Everton should do.

        Foster/Myhill

        Baird/PVA/Bertrand/Bellerin/Koscielny(swap to azi when fit)

        ADM/Haz/Moses/Sanchez/Puncheon

        Costa/Kane/Aguero

Would have to downgrade Punch to boyd or JWP to get Terry instead?

So the only way to shoehorn both ADM and Costa into my team is to downgrade defence a bit (Gardos as a SOT option). Gives me:

    Pants Krul
    Terry Gardos Bellerin Wisdom 4.2
    Hazard Sanchez ADM Puncheon 4.5
    Kun Kane Costa

    Worth the downgrade?

Fair enough. They're short term options though - will downgrade Bellerin to a cheapie that rotates well, and will upgrade Gardos to Fonte. But I do still have to save transfers for that.

Though I do honestly believe that ayoze is a good pick. Despite our crap form recently, he is still consistently amongst our best players, and he will get/make chances for himself.

There's no way he gets benched. He's been one of our best players this season by a good margin, and de Jong favours CAM. Yet I don't think de Jong will be back for a few more weeks yet. He's back in training, but he's been out for a long time and will need to be eased back in.

nothing to change here, looks excellent. Same with me, I wildcarded last week and finished below average for the first time. However looking at only very small reds, fell worse overall than I did in fantasy football mini leagues which shows people at the top had rough weeks unless you captained Costa. Aguero, Hazard, Sanchez, ADM all blanking....look at the fixtures this week and I think your midfield should be on for fun times 🙂

    Option A, B, C or D please people.

A - Do Fabregas to Sterling/Cazorla this week, and then Di Maria to Puncheon/Austin to Costa for a -4 the following week.

B- Save FT for next gameweek and then do A the week after for a -4

C- Ignore Costa and carry on with big 4 in midfield

    D- Austin to Defoe

    Panti/Foster

    Terry/Bertrand/Van Aanholt/Wisdom/Hutton

    Sanchez/Hazard/Di Maria/Fabregas/Boyd

    Aguero/Kane/Austin

Simple question. Did Martinez get the job just on the basis of winning the FA Cup, which obviously never done? Here's something Martinez has done that Moyes hasn't, been relegated from the PL

No way would Kenwright have appointed a manager from a team that had been relegated without that cup win IMO

It's worth pointing out that Moyes had some very rough seasons aswell . They have nearly been relegated and finished 11th more than once .

Mate no3 is only 40 points ahead and the top two could slip up, easily doable.

Finally watching 'The Living Dead' on Sky catch up. Been pretty good so far, great cast. Just finished the 'Otis' episode in series 2 .... Oooh.

I'm surprised it's as good as it is even though it comes highly recommended, I've been pretty critical so far but I'm still watching and to be honest fairly hooked.

Touche, I did exactly the same thing with the Wire, ran out of memory and it deleted first couple of episodes.
Watching TWD mixed in with odd episode of 'This is Jinsey' from series 1, haven't seen the wife in days.. 🙂

The bad use of John Murphys 'Adagio in D minor' had me in a small rant but I've persevered, I can be a bit picky & over critical when it comes to TV and film. 😉

Hmmm let's think, GoT, CSI (the original Vegas one) Battlestar Galactica (I know).
True Detective was an excellant watch & still to watch the Wire & BB.

House of Cards is fairly good , Never watched original CSI but used to laugh at CSI Miami constantly , Firefly is amazing ,

Yeah, heard House of Cards is good.
Really like William Petersen which drew me into CSI and it's just been constantly great after 13/14 series.
Other CSI's have been pretty poor & badly cast.

    a) Foster, Myhill, Lescott, PvA
    b) Pamti, Mannone, Lescott, Baird

In A) Lescott and PvA would be part of a rotation, in B) Lescott would play every week with Baird as a playable cheapie and Hutton/Stoke to cover WBA away at City

    My saga and plan:

I WC last week due to Aguero obsession, and a handful of defenders who needed to get swapped out. After seeing Costa get a goal a game for so long, I thought it made good sense to hold onto two cheap forwards, Kane and Austin, and sell Costa for kun. I then went with 3 pricey mids and 3 pricey defenders, and vwoillah!, 31 points with not a single goal or assist. My high scorers were Terry and Baines.

My gut is to overreact and fix my strategy, but I have to believe that for every week a decent set of players on paper fails to score, they will regress to the mean and rock out another week. Sooooo, I'm going to try and hold steady with my underperforming lot of:

    Heaton, Panti
    Baines, Terry, Bertrand, PvA, Baird
    Sanchez, Hazard, Silva, Chadli, Boyd
    Austin, Kane, Aguero

I may move Silva, and could still have a dram or two and then do the radical silva and Austin to costa and ward-prowse reactionary thing, and I will be in a support group over the next two weeks to try and refrain.

Just an FPL rant. You may now return to your regularly scheduled station.

    Foster - Myhill
    Terry - Clyne - Wisdom - Muniesa - PVA
    Sanchez - Hazard - Eriksen - Puncheon - JWP
    Aguero - Costa - Kane

    Thanks heaps!

I think Panti for the save points, spent most of the evening weighing it up though

Cheers, I got Panti at £4.4 so hard to see past him. His save points are great and fixtures are turning for the better.
Seems WBA are now a different beast so will weigh it up.

Like many others I am trying to decide when to play my Jan WC. Current squads will of course play a factor, but assuming you are reasonable happy with yours I have noted a few pros for each week:

    GW23:
    - 2 week period (minimise adverse price movements)
    - fixtures swing for a few teams (good for ARS, MUN, SOT, SUN, STO, bad for WHU, TOT)
    - will see nearly all of the actual Jan transfers

    GW24:
    - an extra week to gather data, eg late new signings, players returning from ACON, injuries and players that look good but have question marks over starting roles (Bellerin, Ospina, Baird etc)
    - can wait until after che to load up on MCY players (Aguero)

For me, whilst my squad looks alright on paper, I want to make quite a few changes. In particular I only have 1 starter in total from the 5 teams above with good fixtures, and with a few tricky fixtures up next, triple Spurs and Downing needs fixing:

    Lloris, Elliot
    Baines, Terry, Chambers, Wisdom, Hutton
    Sanchez, Hazard, Silva, Eriksen, Downing
    Costa, Kane, Austin

    Bank 0.0m, 1 FT, 2 WC

Same boat Jins, team is ok but not great and not sure if waiting another GW will help.

That's just it. Are the price movements and missing out on ARS/MUN cover this week really worth 1 more week of data? If likely still want players from mostly the same teams unless there's a real shake up with injuries and signings in that last week of the window.

Simple question lads - WC this week or next week? Have 1FT and £0.2m in the bank. Leaning towards next week as I've missed a couple price rises already

    Hart
    Coleman Cresswell O'Shea
    Silva Hazard Fabregas Sanchez
    Costa Kane Austin

    Bench - Wisdom, Marney, Hutton.

I'd hit the button on that.
I'd want to move out Hart, Coleman, Cresswell, O'Shea, Hutton, Silva and Marney. Possibly Austin too .
