Injuries

The Treatment Table – Gameweek 26

We cast an eye over the new injuries sustained during the weekend’s ten fixtures this evening. Problems mount for Palace up front, Newcastle’s concerns continue, whilst United’s misfiring Dutchman is set for ankle scans after Saturday’s loss at Swansea.

Aston Villa
Kieran Richardson was forced off during the first half of Saturday’s home loss to Stoke due to injury.

Crystal Palace
Fraizer Campbell was withdrawn during the Eagles’ home loss to Arsenal after picking up a hamstring problem. Marouane Chamakh failed to feature against his former club due to a similar complaint.

Liverpool
Mamadou Sakho missed today’s clash with Southampton due to a hip problem, the Reds’ official twitter feed has confirmed.

Man United
The Red Devils are sweating over the fitness of Robin van Persie after the Dutchman left the Liberty Stadium on crutches after sustaining an ankle injury Saturday’s 2-1 defeat to Swansea. United are expected to know results of scans on the Dutchman by some point tomorrow.

Newcastle
Daryl Janmaat limped off with a groin problem during the Magpies’ 5-0 hammering at the Etihad on Saturday evening. Manager John Carver confirmed:

“He has got a tight groin. I don’t think he’s too serious at the moment, but it is tight and we took him off as a precaution.”

QPR
Niko Krancjar limped out of the R’s narrow loss at Hull on Saturday and was replaced by Armand Traore on 78 minutes.

Southampton
Steven Davis was replaced at the break during the Saints’ home encounter against Liverpool after picking up a knock.

Sunderland
Billy Jones missed the Black Cats’ goalless draw with West Brom due to injury.

Stoke
Erik Pieters was replaced with five minutes remaining of the weekend win at Villa due to injury.

West Ham
Carlton Cole was forced off due to injury during the Hammers’ draw at Spurs this afternoon.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

I don't think we would see one that quickly. It takes more than that amount plus he will surely start to rise again after this blank. Samiliar to Kane I don't see them falling

Since you're laughing at people selling Hazard, you are probably unwilling to do it yourself. That means price falls won't hurt your finances directly (as you wouldn't sell him anyway).

a transfer is precious, but I was thinking about getting silva for him, then getting him back in for Sanchez and getting Giroud up top for arsenal coverage. I'm sticking at the moment and looking to shift wisdom with one of my 2FTs

sorry don;t like it. Pretty sure you'll lose value on Haz, and Sanchez is still good to own, especially with his 31% ownership. Giroud is good (I own him too) but not that dependable. Depends on your strategy but fwiw I won;t do it.

Odd situation I find myself here. 2 FT and able to field a team (if PVA starts)

    Foster (Myhill)
    Pva Clyne Naughton Wollscheid (TERRY)
    Sanchez Sterling Carzola Boyd (HAZARD)
    Aguero Giroud (KANE)

Haidara looks nailed on atm and got a n assist the other day so I'd understand the love but I'd still prefer Colo since he's very nailed on and has the slight goal threat compared to Haidara. No sweat.

    RMDTS (rate my drunk transfers):
Clichy and Puncheon out for Nasri and Naughton (2 frees)
    New team is

    Foster
    Naughton-PVA-Baird-Wollscheid
    Nasri-silva-mane-Sanchez
    Giroud-aguero(c)

Granted I've let go of an assured starter in Puncheon for a points chaser in Nasri with non assured starters in Baird, PVA, and Mane, but city has Leichester during the DGW. Could be an offensive goal fest

Thank you. It took me about two seconds to come up with this one. Since I realized that puncheon carries zero goal threat all of a sudden and that Clichy will start 50% of games instead of 80, I've decided to go with this. Nasri has been looking great and can't be benched for the next two. Surely he will score with city on great form. Plus I've admired swans defense this year, and Naughton at 4.3, can't be ignored. Need any help?

Nasri is good but probably not the best since you already got Silva and Kun (just like me). Think Sterling/Cout are more suitable for your team. Plus Erik would be a candidate for that spot come DGW28.

OK, my suggestion was criticised. I don't think it was controversial. He's been a mid to high priced fourth midfielder choice in the past, so if he regains a regular starting role at a high fifth midfielder/ low fourth midfielder price it doesn't seem a stretch to suggest he could be a bargin.

Interesting argument regarding Spurs players. Do you feel you're trying to justify to yourself using your free transfers to clear up your GW27 problems? In other words, would you go for three Spurs if you were going into GW28 with 2 free transfers?

Assuming 50 points is a game week average (i.e. 4.5 average per player) of which 22 points are starter points and an average of 2.5 scoring points per player per week.

If you take a -4 when you don't have 11 starters that's +0.5 to your score.

If you take a -4 when you have 11 starters, replacing a non-scorer, then it is an average of -1.5 to your score.

    If you take a -4 for DGW players it's an additional 4.5 - 4 = +0.5 to your score.

    Correct?

    1. Rossamous
      • 11 Years
      9 years, 3 months ago

Not as easy as that bro. Depends on positions and potential of the player you're bringing in (plus countless other variables). The average defender in the 4.5 range if you're replacing Baird for example isn't 5 ppg. There's players like Kane, aguero, and hazard who scew the average, but everyone has them anyways

      1. dmhomag
        • 9 Years
        9 years, 3 months ago

Correct. It's a baseline of averages. Since the average is distorted by Kanes and Kuns, and defenders score below average, taking a hit to replace a defender usually doesn't work.

    2. NABIL - FPL otai
      • 11 Years

I always consider 52 is the GW average to aim since it will the you 2000 points in the end - probably the landmark for a decent season.

        • 11 Years

He's making a case for bringing in players who are DGW players and replacements for non playing players, and that hits in these circumstances, are usually justified. We all know this info. Move on

  17. Grounderz

Folks, appreciate some feedback on the move below.

    Krul
Clyne - Jones - Wisdom - van Aanholt
    Sanchez - Silva - Cazorla - Ward-Prowse
    Aguero - Defoe

    Pantilimon - Hazard - Kane - Wasilewski

    2.4m ITB and 2 FTs

Saving yet another FT for the upcoming DGW, so at the moment am planning to use only one FT to remove the mess - Wisdom to Haidara (a downgrade of 4.4m to 4.1m to allow some extra funds).

    1. Arsenal USA FC
      • 11 Years

      1. Grounderz
        • 12 Years
        9 years, 3 months ago

I'm not sure if it's a good idea to use the 2 FT at the same time since van Aanholt has also been dropped lately so that's another problem I need to look into in order to play a full eleven team.

If I use the other FT, that means I am left with only one single FT for the upcoming DGW and if I in any way am tempted to bring an extra DGW, it would be a hit.

I guess that will depend on how tired Tottenham will get by then. They've got a string of games that's going to render them tired and fatigue.

        1. Nabs Kebabs
          • 12 Years

It is worth it imo. Remember removing PVA now will only be effectively a -2 hit rather than a -4 if you get two dgwkers.

Pva will score 0 this week. You can assume if your replacements blanks he will score 2. So if it fails you lose 2 points instead of 4.

                Ahh, thanks FG.

I think that's of course a fair assessment but my other concern would be the getting in the DGWer for a hit instead of the freebie which this week's FT could have been forwarded.

As I mentioned, I think that entirely depends on how tired is Tottenham given their upcoming fixtures. They may run into the games with a side that's very tired from the amount of games so by the DGW comes, I think it will be pointless to invest in their players if they show a run of poor forms.

Haidara as I mentioned. I think Haidara is the likelier candidate of all in that range category. The defence industry has been poor of late and I'm not relying on clean sheets to collect points. If better, pool some funds and invest in attack is my view.

I'd prefer Colo over Haidara but that's down to personal choice. Good luck with that.

Colo for the bonus points if they keep clean sheets, but it looks quite unlikely given their current run of form. Haidara, on the other hand, is a left back and is likelier to contribute attacking returns along with clean sheet if there is any.

    Morning DZ

    Here is my plan:

    Krul
    Koscielny, Alderweireld, Wollscheid, Wisdom
    Sanchez, Di Maria, Cazorla, Boyd
    Kun, Defoe

    Pants, Hazard, Terry, Kane

    1ft, 1.5m

    GW27: Wisdom to Dawson
    GW28: Defoe/ADM to Austin/Eriksen (-4)

    Thoughts?

Sounds like a very decent plan.

Consider Naughton or Colo too, since i think SWA is going strong and NEW will bounce back.

Agree with you about Naiughtons' fixtures but hey we won;t play him most weeks for sure - just a sure starter with some potential CS at a bargain price si enough for me. My problem is i stretch my budget for PVA replacement up to 5.7m (yep, Cresswell level) so I'm pretty confused atm. Still Colo for me.

    Just used 2 FT

      Leaves with

      Foster
      Terry PVA Clyne Naughton Moreno
      Sanchez Hazard ADM Mané Cork
      Kane Aguero Giroud

      Next week
      Giroud > Austin

Cheap. Starter for an attacking team, notched a couple at So'ton earlier this season. Also leaves me with .2 which is exactly what i need for when i do

        Giroud > Austin
        Mané > Erik

    What a Rubbish GW...Jones (0), Vlaar (-2), Eriksen (1), Mane (1), Sturridge (1), Defoe (2)...

Very unlucky mate. Thankfully Jones (1ast sub) never left my bench.

mcshane is interestin gplay but not sure about Vergini. Fixtures are not the best. If you already own Panti, i say go for Naughton Colo/Haidara Bellerin or even Toby.

Ouch. Your ballsy captain pick paid off at least. The quality of the Vergini choice seems to rest on whether Sunderland keep getting clean sheets now they don't have PVA's dodgy defending, because a quick glance suggests he doesn't offer an attacking threat.

    Forster (Hamer)

2FT, thinking Dummet & Wisdom to Yoshida & PVA
