Injuries

The Treatment Table – Gameweek 29

With Swansea and Liverpool yet to play out the Gameweek tomorrow evening, we take a look at the new injury worries caused by the weekend’s nine fixtures.

Chelsea
Willian was replaced by Juan Cuadrado with just eight minutes remaining of today’s home draw with Southampton after picking up an injury, according to match reports.

Crystal Palace
Alan Pardew is sweating over the availability of a couple of key first-team players after Jason Puncheon (hamstring) and Wilfried Zaha (hip) were both forced off during the weekend win over QPR.

Everton
Roberto Martinez has confirmed that Kevin Mirallas missed today’s win over Newcastle with a knock sustained in Thursday’s Europa League victory over Dinamo Kiev. The Belgian is expected to recover in time for this week’s return trip to the Ukraine, though, after failing a late fitness test earlier today.

QPR
Rio Ferdinand missed the trip to Selhurst Park due to illness, the club’s official website has confirmed. The R’s right-back Darnell Furlong was replaced by Clint Hill at the break in Saturday’s defeat at Palace after sustaining a calf complaint, according to manager Chris Ramsey:

”Darnell came off and the only reason he did so was because his calf stiffened up and it wouldn’t have been fair to keep him on. He didn’t come off because they scored two goals.”

Southampton
Eljero Elia missed today’s trip to the Bridge with a twisted ankle, according to the local press.

Stoke
Jonathan Walters was forced off on 67 minutes with a head injury following a collision with Craig Dawson in the Potters’ 1-0 loss at West Brom. Erik Pieters was withdrawn at the break, whilst match reports indicate that Victor Moses was replaced on 57 minutes due to injury. After the match, Mark Hughes gave an update on the former and admitted he has concerns over Walters’ availability:

”Erik should be ok next weekend, but Jon is our main concern at the moment. He looks as though he has a nasty bang on his cheekbone which may well be a fracture and that will have to be checked on Monday. We hope it isn’t but it’s looking as though it could be a serious one that will keep him out for a few games.”

Sunderland
Steven Fletcher was subbed off injured on 82 minutes after sustaining what appeared to be a thigh problem during the Black Cats’ 4-0 home hammering by Villa.

West Brom
Tony Pulis faces an anxious wait on Ben Foster’s fitness after the keeper was forced off with a knee injury during the Baggies’ win over Stoke, whilst match-winner Brown Ideye was also withdrawn late on with a similar complaint.

After the match, Pulis confirmed Foster is set for scans after sustaining the injury in a challenge with the Potters’ Peter Crouch:

“We will have to get him checked. He felt his left knee go from under him. We need him fit.”

West Ham
The Hammers keeper Adrian played from start to finish in the 3-0 loss at Arsenal despite dislocating his finger in the warm-up. Assistant boss Neil McDonald revealed post-match:

”He’s been a brave lad today because he could easily have pulled out. And he’s made some great saves. He has his finger strapped up to play and I’m hoping that if he played today he should alright for next week. He did it in the warm-up but he wanted to carry on. I haven’t ever dislocated my finger so I don’t know how much pain he was in but it’s obviously a big thing for a goalkeeper.”

I can't see the Liverpool of late defending like Spurs did yesterday and if Sakho is fit he'll be a good match for Fellaini's presence. Should be a great game.

Really looking forward to this game. United on the back of their best performance this season. Both teams going for top 4 and, imo, only one of them will get it. Total neutral with no fantasy players from either team.
      Bring it on

hi guys how would you improve this team? 2FT 2.5m itb, no WC left

    foster myhill

    bellerin ivan rose bertrand yun

    silva hazard ozil eriksen ameobi

    kane austin aguero

initial plan is to sell myhill for guzan as he cover's westbrom tough fixtures and oso having a DGW on gw34

any better ideas? i do not mind taking a -4 if needed to fund moves.

Wait until you hear news on Foster, Myhill might be worth hanging onto.

Rose & Ameobi might be worth changing up also if you're looking to burn a transfer.

Otherwise you're in the same boat as many others here contemplating shifting one of the big-hitting mids to downsize and free up cash for getting the likes of Giroud, Rooney, Sturridge, Costa, etc.

thanks. yeah will definitely wait on foster's injury.

Looking to sell rose too but undecided who to get in..could have double chelsea defence but still undecided on whether to get costa.

ameobi not so much unless i sell him for a DGW..alright with playing him on gw33 even if he is a 2pt.

yeah like many people looking to sell one of the big mid for mane..but all seem wrong to sell this gw. if i were to get a striker i might get sturridge.

Ameobi to Phillips or Mahrez should be done along with the removal of Bellerin..Chambers is back now..

        thanks for suggestions.

Looking to take out bellerin too as he is a SGW player in a DGW imo. just that I am currently undecided who to sell him for..getting an expensive defender would be spending too much in defense as i still have rose bertrand ivan.

might do bell->schullup though i would probably wait until gw30 to do that

An injury to Chambers would be nice for Bellerin. That's a headache in its own right. Rose is a rotation risk too so I'd lose him.

yeah just that as much as spurs cannot defend..i am unsure to take him out b4 LEI home..but with 2ft i have to spend it somewhere 🙁

heh since u are already having rose in the team might as well give him 1 more match..not only defensively but rose can contribute assists too.

The stubborn love for Wally is kind of funny to me. Purely based on reputation. Not nailed or preferred by Wenger. Clearly not on form yet people persist.

Tough to see him go 3 games without scoring but he does look a bit uninterested. I wonder if the injuries are getting to his head and doesn't really want to push his body to the extreme. Just a thought.

Xmas long gone and one can dream I guess.

You played well though this week, amazing what a bit of urgency can do to a team.

Wonder what LVG said to the team this week to get them to perform.
Honestly, I think its Carrick. Much more composed than Blind in that DM position. Also nice to have a natural left footer as a LFB.

Do you think LVG stays no matter what this yr even if you don't make top4?

Carrick was the main difference of course. Mata just keeping it simple was also a massive improvement on AdM giving it away ad nauseum. And as much as I hate to say it, Blind offered far more than Shaw has all season going forward. I think his best position is actually LB.

But no, it's top four or bust.

Kane looked completely lost out there. Nice game plan to shut him down. Once again, Carrick positioning had a say in that.

Cazorla gets the minutes and will be subbed off for Walcott at around 70 min in the next few games...? It seems to me that Cazorla will not be benched, but you never know...a bit of a risk?

Get him out in GW33 again then, and sell Bellerin for Terry this week - you'd have 2 Arsenal players in GW33, get rid of both with 2 FTs or even a hit, get them back on WC. Simples.

Playing on the left wing, so not the center of attack anymore. Ozil is.
Plus he has never played this many games before so its starting to wear on his physique. He is not the biggest athlete you will see. With all that being said, he had better chances than Kun did to score.

Out of form apparently. I'm keeping, who else is there? Coutinho? Siggy?

Strikers are back now, that's more important. Should we go for Costa, Benteke, Rooney. Costa looks ready to fire again

For those with Aguero, Kane and Giroud - really tough to drop any for Costa/Benteke/Rooney though. Maybe on WC.

Worth taking a hit to get Costa in for Austin?

      I wouldnt.

Austin has Everton at home who is bit shaky this year.

I would do it...Everton trying to find their form again with a 3-0 win...gonna be tough for QPR as it is..

I was really tempted to have a punt of Townsend, not sure he's nailed on now
