The ScoutCast – Episode 154 – Beard

With Granville sulking on sabbatical, it was left to myself and Jonty and his flourishing facial hair to hold the fort, ably supported by this week’s guest, Luke aka D1sable.

Racking up one of the longest episodes for months, the three of us talk slippers, banish at least seven teams to the Championship and mention Jeffrey Schlupp as much as humanly possible. Despite missing Granville’s secret sauce, we also do our best to serve up the regulars, whilst addressing the quizzing and probing from the Fantasy Football Scout community – thats you.

Once again, if you escaped the horror of Monday’s live Hangout you can view the full movie below. Alternatively, you can enjoy our semi-slick, edited audio version via this link or the first player.

If you want to get the heads up on future Hangouts, be sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

I posted something before, that I certainly don't see a massacre. You have to fancy Arsenal to win, but it's a tough place to go - and after a CL midweek game.

    Pants,

    Ivan, Clyne, Rose

    Hazard, Sanchez, Eriksen, Silva

    Aguero, Kane, Austin

Is there anything worth changing in that starting XI? 2 FTs, and thinking of doing Heaton > Myhill, just to get some extra cash and WBA defensive cover.

Then we get Myhill for a couple of very nice WBA home fixtures, before changing to a DGW 'keeper anyway.

Yes, a couple of good ones. I just like having WBA defensive cover for their next 2 home games.

Hmmmm. I have that keeper combo, and have 2 ft, and would consider myhill. But, we have to burn two trades to get and out of myhill as foster will be back. Is that efficient? I was thinking of moving panti straight to Guzan now....

"Get in and out of myhill"...*

I am burning one of my two ft on bellerin to Toby, and would use the second to avoid having to play heaton if panti is benched. I was thinking panti to Guzan, but myhill could be an alternative stop gap to Guzan.

I just wanted to use one of my FTs to something that would free up funds and give me someone who would play in the next few GWs. I do have a WC intact, though.

Okay. I think the key difference is that you have no other trades planned whereas I've got two ft that I want to make. However, I'm intrigued by myhill because I would then create cash like thou, and be able to move baird o Toby and hold bellerin. I'd then sit bellerin for his blank in gw33, and him ship out when debuchy returns. I also have my wild card.

I don't think it's a bad plan - and Pants also has good fixtures in the next few GW, so the 'keeper situation isn't a priority by any means.

I'd wait for a juicy DGW to use it. And when there's a differential (such as a Sturridge) you really want to captain that week.

If you're already planning transfers on a proposed wildcard it probably won't work out. Unless there's a really good reason to use it I would keep it. I'm sure your team is fine.

I see 😯 not sure, the Arsenal news has really thrown things in a loophole. Maye Gw35 would be better when some good team' fixtures turn, wouldn't do it now though to be honest, just can't see the potential there. Also considering you'll have to deal with the Gw33 blank like everybody else, instead of perhaps exploiting that GW to strengthen your team and WC Gw35 in preparation for Gw37;s DGW

Wow...considering the amount of talents from the premier league you must wonder where it went wrong in Europe this year. I think the manager's either didn't respect the opposition enough, the players didn't care and the manager's used tactics only suited for the premier league.

Hard tackling get stuck in culture with a lack of composure on the ball. The forte of English teams.

Only Liverpool and Arsenal have a style of play that could looks like it could evolve and be an attractive side to watch and do well in Europe in the near future.

Perhaps Utd as well if they actually spend money on a decent defence. Arsenal don't convince me considering the amount of times they have already failed. I'd say Chelsea are still a good shout considering that loss.

The choice for a (C) this week for me is as hard as I can recall.
After looking at the front 7 that I have and looking at the last time these players played against this weeks opposition, there are no clear stand outs in my opinion. I really do think some players match up well against other teams.
    This week I (along with most) have these options;

    Hazard 14 (A)
    Silva 14 (H)
    Sanchez 9 (A)
    Eriksen 8 (H)
    Kane 12 (H)
    Giroud 13 (A)
    Kun 0 (H)

The value is the amount scored against their opposition last time out, and then whether they're home or Away.

    Giroud is in Form
    Man City are not
Spurs were criticised after last game
Chelsea aren't exactly setting the world on fire

Something is telling me that Kane will bounce back after last weeks criticism and his England call up.
Kane (C) & Giroud (Vc) for me

    1. Walsh
      • Fantasy Football Scout Member
      • 10 Years

Could be a good shout, but I think Giroud is the slam dunk option this weekend. I'd say a lot of Kane's prospects depends on how Pearson lines up. If he rolls out the 541 again it would dent Kane's captaincy appeal somewhat for me.

What if one doesn't own giroud? I've got the ol Kun, Kane, Austin trio, and am holding for Austins dgw. I've also got silva, hazard, and Sanchez. For now, my C is Kane and vc on hazard.

I know there's a lot of rheteric about not planning in advance, however I performed a lot better earlier on in the season when I had a set plan of what I was going to do for the next 4-5 gameweeks....obviously injuries/suspensions/forms etc means the plan may change but what do you guys think of this??

    Foster/Panti

    Terry/Clyne/Alderweireld/Hutton/Wollscheid

    Hazard/Sanchez/Silva/Eriksen/Boyd

    Aguero/Kane/Austin

    Gw 31 Sanchez to Eriksen
    GW 32- Austin to Sturridge
GW 33 - Eriksen to Henderson
GW 34 - Clyne to Ivanovic ( Chelsea double GW)

I like it in general, then 😀 I would probably try and figure out a way to get Costa in there too, though. Probably get him instead of Sturridge (assuming Liverpool have a blank in 33) and figure out whether or not you want to get Sturridge in for their double later.

I was reading somewhere that the Liverpool double gameweek, if it happens, will probably be in gw 37 as SKY already have games scheduled for midweek broadcasts in the other available weeks.
I wouldn't bother with Studge quite so early I think.

What with this news of the Arsenal DGW in GW37 may be time to ditch one or two Arsenal assets before their blank. Giroud out for Costa GW33 looks a good bet. SAnchez out of form another who could go and Bellerin likely to lose his place before the DGW another worth shifting. All of a sudden I have too many transfers that need considering 😆

Certainly looking at getting rid of Arsenal after the Newcastle game to some degree, for sure.

The fact that you're smiling tells me that you're enjoying this. The Considering i mean 🙂

Yes, it just shows how quickly things can change in this game. On Monday I had a reasonable plan and a solid squad, three days later it's looking outdated and the squad needs major changes. Still, I think this is what keeps the game interesting, if a giant pain in the arsenal at times.

True that. Best laid plans and all that. I had my plans all set in motion too. Luckily it involves changing weaker players first, or sideways moves like Bertrand to Alder, so I have time to adjust.
