With the previous Gameweek finally coming to its conclusion yesterday evening, we now take time to delve into the data. Amongst tonight’s topics are Chelsea’s stand-in striker and in-form wide man, the City midfield, Palace’s form players at both ends of the pitch and Villa and Arsenal’s clinical frontmen.
Better to transfer Mannone if you can afford it

Million dollar question for the Austin owners...!! Who are you getting in place of him? or are you keeping? I am thinking of getting Murray of Gomis!! Need help in this matter!! Who to get?
Remy.
Depends on any Costa news but:
Remy
Gomis
MurrayBut the more I think about it, Remy
Murray is 100% the best option
Remy.
Im going Murry - Good stats and dirt cheap!
I'm definitely over thinking this Austin>Remy move. The more I keep thinking about it, the more it feels like a trap.
Don't do it. With all the blanks n doubles ahead you need players you are certain will play.
Not necessarily; if I do Austin to Remy I only have Sanchez with a blank, Remy is a Chelsea DGW player, and he will go fro Giroud after their double. All depends on your situation, for me it's low risk.
He won't play both games of the dgw even if Costa isn't back.
Drog n remy to rotateDrogba can't play 90, even if Remy doesn't start he'll get half an hour, and that's enough time to do some damage.
Your funeral. It's foolhardy.
For me it just takes a free Remy to Giroud, straight swap.
I'm thinking simply on this one; cheap striker for the next champions against QPR who can't defend. I'll deal with Costa when it happens
Ha!
Wait for news on Costa. If he is out for the double then get Remy. Or if you have a WC then get Remy
It's definitely a risk.
Without a doubt. But one thing in it's favour is it's not a risk now, it's a risk in a couple of weeks.
What to do with this team guys... took the risk of no austin and benteke + cpt aguero... dropped like a rock...
Panti
Ivan Fonte Lescott
hazard Eriksen Caz Silva
Aguero Kane Giroud Bench:
4.0 Walters PVA Wollscheid
0.9 ITB 1 FT
A. 4.0 --> davis (hes nailed right?)
B. saved
C. eriksen --> sterling?
D. Any other option??A
Debuchy watch
Start Rose (AVL) or Dawson (LEI) ?
Dawson
Dawson
Dawson
Boat
Will Bellerin start for Arsenal this week?
I'm not so sure. Not sure he'll tinker much.
You have the Chambers rotation and the fact that Debuchy is fit again.
I think I'm going to get rid for Toby.Debuchy isn't match fit, only Chambers is a threat for now imo.
Debuchy will play at some point - it's just whether he gets 60 mins start or 30 mins from the bench.
I think Bellerin is first 11 at the mo. But Bellerin > Toby is a good move.
Thanks - my concern is using the transfer that might otherwise be needed for the DGW.
I think I'll wait re: Liverpool's fixture and if they have a DGW 34 then change my plans.Yep, it's what I'm doing.
Transfers are previous with no WC.
I think he will but I wouldn't be certain.
Cheers mate
Remy
Oh massive fail.
I have 4 blank gw players ahead. These are:
Sanchez, cazorla, PVA and Austin.
I have 2 FTs this week. Was thinking Austin to Murray and next week caz to silva.
Input is welcome...Just sell austin. Caz can go next week
Yeah just roll over he sub. Feels weird getting rid of a player in red hot form but blank and bad fixtures I suppose
I think Silva is pretty much an essential lately but with how City are playing it could probably wait until next GW. Austin > Murray is a transfer I'm doing too this GW
Would you rather have
A) Silva and Sturridge
B) Coutinho and Aguero
Considerations if the Liverpool DGW is going to actually be 34
Other player will be a defender to replace Naughtonturns out I can also afford - C) Sterling and Aguero
C but wait to see when Liverpool game rescheduled...
when can we expect to know?
On here it said this morning.
Hull pressed is tomorrow.
For now, don't touch.
Hey lads couple of bad captain choices in a row getting to me!
Pants
Alde Clyne Terry
Hazard Silva Eriksen Sanchez
Kane(c) Austin Kun
Krul Dawson Boyd Naughton 2FT 0.2
What to do? CheersTime to join the Austin > bandwagon
Solid team.save
Austin -> Murray or Remy, but can safely wait a week. Wouldn't be surprised if Austin got in the ponts again this GW.
Time to ship Koscielny I guess
Possibly not risked, then a blank, then CHE
Best replacements? All of this remy love is madness, pure and simple.
Will he start this weekend? I think so.
Will he score his weekend? Probably.
Will he start in the blank week? Don't fancy it.
Will Costa be back for he double? I reckon so.
Unless you have a wc it's madness to get him in. Too many issues when there are so many existing already.Who? Stop talking riddles!
Not exactly a riddle is it.
It's typical of this site. Groupthink strikes again. I'd rather have vardy than remy.I agree with the above, but I'd take Remy over Vardy. Thats the main issue, if you dont go with Remy, you're looking at the likes of Vardy, which lets be honest are not appealing.
Or Murray...who is awesome...
I'm going Murray I think. Can reevaluate Remy on my GW34 WC.
This 100%
I'm in their camp though. I don't think Costa will be back for at least a month and I think Remy will start most if not all until that point, but I feel that Murray has more security and better fixtures.
Yeah. I wouldn't play Murray this week. Have him in for two weeks, then it's dgw time baby
You wouldn't play Murray against Sunderland? 😯
It would probably be Kane for the chop :-0
Is groupthink a reference to 1984?
It's actually a well recognised phenomenon that occurs when a group of people act together. I'm sure you know this. Some may not. It occurs regularly on here. Sometimes it works...mostly it doesn't.
I actually thought of Remy straight away after the Costa injury - I was mildly disappointed when I saw everyone on here had the same idea.
And don't expect any straight answers from Jose.
Did Remy punch your Mum or something?
I disagree with 3 of your answers, as do many others. Just accept it and stop keep going on about it. Its boring.
Useful
So you don't think he will start or score this weekend and that he will play the following game?
That's what you've said in a nutshell by disagreeing with my 3 answers.
Buffoon.🙂
Will he start this weekend? I think so.
Will he score his weekend? Probably.
Will he start in the blank week? Don't fancy it.
Will Costa be back for he double? I reckon so.
1. He will start
2. Agree
3. Yes
4. No.
Disagree with 3/4 cvntchops. That's 2 you utter m0ron as you agree with answers 1&2
Complete joker!I don't agree with I think so. He will start.
Haha pathetic little man.
What surprises me is the confidence people have in 'knowing' that Costa will miss the DGW and Remy 'will' play both games. Its 3 weeks away!
It shouldn't surprise you - you've been here long enough to know that this is very much the norm.
I just don't think the confidence is justified. Normally this site err's on the side of caution but it doesn't seem to be the case here. Odd
We know from past experience how long it takes to recover from hamstring injuries. Do you really think Mourinho would put him through 3 games in a week even if he made a super quick recovery?
I just think there is a chance Costa might return for one of those games in the DGW. I'm not certain of anything
This. And then take into account what happened vs Stoke.
I shall wait till the dgw and then make he decision then whilst informed.
If you are chasing in your ML it could be a half decent punt but it is glazed with risk.Hammy injuries are very black-and-white though, Granny. They're either fixed, or they're not. There won't be a plan to play him at the weekend and rest him midweek - there's no point (we saw this with Baines earlier in the year). There is, however, a reasonable chance that if he's rushed back too soon at the weekend that the injury re-occurs and he's forced to miss midweek. Either way, for me it seems like relying on Costa is a no-go area. Plenty of examples of people who have captained returning heroes this season, only for them to blank.
It's a matter of probabilities.
A grade 1 hamstring strain is 1-3 weeks in any case and it's clear the injury is at least that bad.
A grade 2 hamstring strain is 4-8 weeks and the visible evidence as well as what is coming out from the club suggests it is probably at that level.
In addition, as Chelsea are effectively 10 points clear with 7 to play (assuming they win the game in hand v Leicester) there is probably no need to rush Costa back and every reason to believe that they won't given the recurring problem. As I have said before it's more likely that they will decide not to play him again this season unless the team is really struggling.
Does any of this amount to certainty? No. But it amounts to a pretty good probability. No-one can say they know for sure what hasn't happened yet. But it is possible to discern what is more or less likely. For me this is firm enough to base decisions on. Others must make up their own minds. You see I like posts like this. There is actually some decent level of information. Just hoping news is given. I don't like making blind decisions yet so many leap into it.
Grade 1 or Grade 2. We don't even know that. There is a big difference between the two.
Look, I posted all of this the other day and I'm not going to rehash it.
For me there is clear and sufficient evidence of a Grade 2 type injury. Enough to base my decisions on. Others must make up their own minds. There is no absolute certainty to be had and there won't be until Costa plays again - and maybe not even then judging by last week. You can't be certain its grade 2. It can only be an opinion
Ryan, I have never said I am certain of anything, my post above says there's no certainty to be had. It's not just a throwaway opinion either. It's an informed appraisal which falls somewhere between the two and is sufficient for me. Whether it is sufficient for anyone else is up to them. I only posted it because Andy was asking and I wanted to help.
Struth.
All this is true. The only question is whether its Grade 1 or 2, and results of the scan will tell us this. You talk of information coming from the club - is this a scan result being leaked?
No, it's what has crept into the press and what I have heard on the Chelsea grapevine coupled with the evidence of my own eyes - Costa was limping and holding his thigh whereas when he came off against Stoke he walked off quite normally. That suggests the injury has been made worse.
Here's what the Telegraph said yesterday (the article which the Independent and Express articles were based on):
"...Costa sustained a hamstring strain against Hull and managed to convince himself, Mourinho and Chelsea medics that he was fit enough to be on the substitutes’ bench against Stoke a fortnight later after withdrawing from the Spain squad..."
"...Having managed to play just 12 minutes as a second-half substitute against Stoke before being forced off clutching his left hamstring, Costa left Stamford Bridge on crutches and had to be helped into a taxi..."
"...(Chelsea) now worry that the damage is worse than before and that Costa will have to take an extended break before (he) tries to play again. Costa (will) not be allowed to rush himself back (this time) as Chelsea fear the injury that forced him off in the victory against Stoke is worse than the problem the striker sustained against Hull..."
And that's really the last I have to say on the matter. I offered an informed appraisal but people will have to make their own minds up as I have said all along.
Remy for me is good short term - very short term and thats it. If you have your WC in tact then it could be beneficial to get Remy in
Absolutely.
If you have wc, no harm no foul! 🙂
I need a striker for 2 weeks (WC then)
I have Kane and Aguero and 8.4itb, any ideas? For 2 weeks Remy is a great choice
Murray is a great choice
Gomis is a great choice
high 5
🙂
Agree
Gomis is a great choice
Thanks all, will have a look
Morning chaps. Some advice please, any changes need to be made to the below? 1FT 1.5m ITB and WC available.
Davis
Terry, Alder, Dawson
Silva, Haz, Sanchez, Eriksen
Aguero, Kane, Giroud
Rose, Lucas, Bruceyeah Hazard > Remy
For remained of season:
A) Davis Ivanovic
B) Ospina BertrandA
A for me
Gotta B A
A
Have 5.2 to spend for def who replaces Koscielny.
Is Alderwider (4.8) best option? Also considering Huth (4.7) bearing in mind he has dgw coming.
My other defs are Terry,Clyne,Pva,RoseI personally would go for Alder and double up on Sou
Is Huth still as attacking? I think id still go Toby
Atleast he (huth) goes up for corners.
Him or Schlupp maybe if you'd like some LEI for the DGW. Also SWA (h) just before the double ain't bad
My thoughts excatly just not sure if Leicester defence is worth investing.
Gomis or Murray ?
Mints
Have I missed the Silva boat? Can do Eriksen to Silva this week for free but at least Eriksen will play in the blank week and I should be saving my transfers on Liverpool and Chelsea players for the dgw really. What's your thoughts?
We gonna find out about Liverpool/Hull DGW today?
If not then tomorrow?
If not then chances of it happening in 34 decreases right? We will find out today.
This morning according to Hull - Check the tweets
It's going to be announced as GW34 today apparently.
Interesting - who's saying 34 mate?
I'd like to get some Liverpool Midfield cover, which of these options is likely to be the best one?
a) Sterling - Should work well with Sturridge, but has been at RWB.
b) Henderson - On pens and set pieces, but Gerrard is waiting in the wings.
c) Coutinho - Has the ability, but maybe doesn't always show it consistently.
What do you think?Sterling against a rubbish Newcastle all day for me
Sterling is always gonna be your best bet
Could do with some advice with the below team.. 2FTs and don't think I have anything pressing to do? Happy to keep Austin so was thinking Naughton out is probably the best transfer?
Ospina
McAuley - Clyne - Alder
Hazard - Sanchez - Silva - Eriksen
Aguero - Kane - Austin
Krul - van Aanholt - Moses - Naughton
2FT, 1.0 in the bankfill your boots
Any thoughts on best replacement for Naughton?
Schlupp
Myhill, Ospina
Berty, Vert, Lescott, trippier, Wolls
Alexis, Haza, Eriksen, boyd, Siggy
Austin, Tekkers, Kane
1Ft and about 10 ITB.
Need help please. What changes can i make putting the dgws in consideration tomight wanna get Silva, he managed to still get a bonus point and blank at Palace, so perhaps Eriksen > Silva. Vertonghen is really a waste of money after that DGW so you could invest in a Chelsea defender, Iva being your best option. I wouldn't make those two transfers this week for a hit though, see how Vertonghen does against Villa and bring in Iva after Chelsea's blank GW33
woops sorry no blank for Chelsea
Thoughts on Foster + Austin ---> Schmeichel + Sturridge -4 ?
A GK change for a hit?
I'm 0.2 short of Austin ---> Sturridge
My other keeper is Krul...
After days of deliberation (and 2FTs & 0.5m in the bank) I think I have a plan regarding Austin/Arsenal blank:
Myhill Foster
Toby Ivan Rose Naughton Yun
Hazard Erikson Ozil Sanchez Cork
Kane Kun Austin
Week 32 – Ozil/Austin to Silva/Murray
Week 33 – Sanchez to Fabragas
Week 34 – Erikson to Sanchez
Any thought folks on that would be appreciated folks? Not sure whther Silva is you man now, ship may have sailed. Would rather ship Eriksen this GW, Spurs completely out of form. Would try to get in Henderson or Coutinho. Fabregas and Murray are good shouts though
Cheers for the feedback mate, i see where youre coming from with silva but its more of a defensive move as my 2 rivals have him and he's been killing me recently!
awesome zlut
Austins stars are pushing me towards keeping him for this week. Gives time to monitor the Costa situation then
Ings also has excellent statsKeeping Austin is the obvious choice for me this week.
Just thought I'd ask for some ideas, current team:
Panti - Hamer
Terry - Ivan - Alderweireld - Dawson - Baird
Hazard - Øzil - Eriksen - Silva - Boyd
Kane - Giroud - Aguero
2FT, £0.4
thinking of a couple of options for this GW here:
a) Panti -> K.Davis
b) Terry -> Bertrand (bring in Remy or Fabs for DGW)
c) other ideas ??
your thougths appreciated guysa) but Hamer > Davis
Thanks - sadly £0.1 short 🙁 . So I'd be looking at getting second keeper back when wc'ing, so no big deal
woops I thought Davis was 4.0 Panti > Davis is still your best option if you wanna field 11 players GW33
Liverpool DGW announcement must have crashed the FFS servers!
Anyone know what date PL 15/16 starts?
8th August.
Many thanks....
July 20 at 4am
