Being far down the rankings I took a big gamble this GW with a -16pts hit. That's 5 transfers.

Haidara Cazorla Silva Mane Agüero → Skrtel Ramsey Mata Henderson Giroud

This is how it's gone so far:

    NEW TEAM
    9 Skrtel
    3 Henderson
Ramsey, Mata, Giroud, Skrtel and Henderson to play
    SUM -16 + 9 = -7

    OLD TEAM
    1 Wollscheid (instead of Haidara)
    2 Mane
    1 Silva
    6 Agüero
    Cazorla to play
    SUM 10

So I need the 5 players left to play to get 17 more points than Cazorla for this to be repaid immediately.

Looking far better than I initially feared.

You made 5 transfers and bought only two dgw and 2 sgw vs Chelsea? Not sure what the thought process behind that is...

Setting up for the ARS dgw I'd assume.

        Right? 🙂

I looked at the DGW candidates, and then looked at the players that I really wanted in my squad for the run in.

And have a gut feeling Arsenal will tear Chels a new one today.

Added bonuses are the DGW and 3 big differentials.

    Best way forward to GW37?

    Pants Myhill
    Terry Bertrand PvA Skrtel Yun
    Hazard Silva Sterling Fabregas Boyd
    Kun Kane Vardy

    GW35: Fabregas > Sanchez
    GW36: Kane > Giroud
    GW37: Sterling > Ramsey

Anything could happen in that game Innsie, but I can see it being a tight game.

That said, if Arsenal score first it could become very open. Should be good.

I am an Arsenal fan, but I really think Chelsea will shut it down. But, as an owner of Sánchez, Terry and Ivan, if there's scoring, I hope the defenders go nuts on set pieces but Sánchez outdoes them with a hat trick or whatever you call a four or fiver.

I hate to relive the Geoff Shreeves esque moment for you Jins.

But Costa looks almost certainly out for the Arsenal game according to Daily Mail (I know) - http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3055119/Chelsea-striker-Diego-Costa-set-miss-Arsenal-clash-hamstring-injury.html

But lot of Chelsea fans I know think the same too.

Yeah, I got him in on the back of Jose's comments of him definitely being back for the Leicester game. Fancy him to score a couple in that. Then it's CPL afterwards before I likely switch to Giroud. If Costa starts today then that's a bonus!

But yeah, it's a huge risk giving him the armband. All my mini leagues are wrapped up so wanted to at least give it a shot at getting to 1st OR, which means risky captains from here on in.

That moment when you realize a ManU win and an Arsenal draw or loss will put things right...

Arsenal will, without precedent, finish fourth again, won't they?

I give Wenger credit, its harder than winning the league to massage the wins and losses to attain the 4th place title year in and year out.

    Team for Next Week.
Half the Gameweek to go obviously but would you save barring Injuries?

    Schmeichel (Pantil)
    Terry, Schlupp, Skrtel (Duff, PVA)
    Fabregas, Sterling, Hendo, Hazard, (Cambiasso)
    Kane, Aguero, Giroud

    3.5m, 1 ft.

Then Fabs- Sanchez and upgrade one of the Leicester crew next week.

See what happens today but maybe Fabregas to Sanchez this week as you have the cash. Sanchez has bigger potential.

Ospina has 6 clean sheets from 12 PL games since coming into the team but Arsenal don't keep so many clean sheets away (5 this season) and are playing a resurgent Hull (a) next week.

Schmeichel has clean sheets in his last two games, gets plenty of save points and is up against a dismal Newcastle (h).

Deciding on my GK won't be so simple. Especially as I'll be tempted to play N'Doye.

Not sure I'd call Hull, "resurgent," after one game. They are still in trouble and more importantly...they are still kak.

      1. Ruth_NZ
        • 9 Years
        9 years, 22 days ago

They gave Chelsea a very good game a couple of weeks ago. Almost beat them.

They played very well yesterday against an in-form Palace. I think Hull's form is turning and most importantly they are attacking better. "Improving" might be a better word than "resurgent" though.

        1. Geordienufc1
          • 10 Years
          9 years, 22 days ago

To be fair, they are improving from a pretty low base. And if we're talking form, obviously today's impending result notwithstanding, Arsenal are as good as it gets. No real reason to suggest that Hull will overly trouble them I don't think.

Then again, I am open to being wrong.

          1. Ruth_NZ

Well, I don't know. I was at the Chelsea-Hull game earlier in the season and Hull quite impressed me until Huddlestone was sent off. Defensively sound and well organised. The problem was they didn't have a lot of threat in attack.

Recently that looks better, they gave Chelsea a real game at the KC and N'Doye is a European class striker who has given them more up front. I think they are better than some people believe.

The key thing with the relegation-threatened teams is whether they can find another gear. Sunderland and Burnley don't seem to have one and time is running out for QPR. Newcastle don't know what a gear is. But Leicester and Villa are scoring goals now and turning things around and it looks to me as if Hull are beginning to do the same.

The relegation teams that are trying to attack their way out of danger are dangerous beasts at this time of season.

I won't argue. But I think 4 or 5 more points will be enough, especially as they have a better GD than Newcastle (who could conceivably not get another point).

As a Toon fan, our form and general state is pitiful and extremely distressing. Nonetheless, I don't believe we will go down.

Newcastle Fixtures: lei, WBA, qpr, WHU

Hull Fixtures: LIV, ARS, BUR, tot, MUN

I think we can scrape 1 win from those 4 games, and I don't see Hull getting enough points from theirs.

Could be but where is your win coming from? I could see a draw against WBA. I can't see anything at Leicester or QPR. May come down to West Ham on the 24th May.

I looked at the run-in 3 games ago, when we had 7 games to play. I saw 1 win, 1 draw and 5 losses. And I pencilled in what you just said. Draw against west brom, and a win against west ham.

I really don't want it to come down to the final day, but I think even if we can get 1 more draw, we will stay up with 36 points this season.

Yeah, 36 may be enough. To be honest I think you may even be OK on 35. Sunderland, QPR, Burnley may all end up with less than that. Hull I think will get to 35 or 36 points, the Burnley game (GW36) is the crucial one for them.

I think QPR and Burnley are gone. I think Villa will be alright. I think Sunderland will struggle, and I think Hull will end up on 35.

And I also think that we will somehow manage to avoid the indignity of losing 11 straight games. I don't know where, I don't know how, but surely it can't happen. Right? 🙁

this is how I'll be looking for this coming week, barring any injuries, think I'm going to save a FT..

    __________Schmeichel
    ______Terry - Smalling - Skrtel
    Henderson - Ramsey - Sterling - Hazard
    _____Costa - Benteke - Aguero

    Panti; Albrighton, Morgan, PvA

tempted by Rambo (c) but probably will go Kun

Long way to go this week of course.

What looks the best option for now.

Kun, Gru and then one from Kane or Benteke would seem the ideal front 3 right now. You need to get Gru in at some point as he has a dgw in 37 and has the fixtures and form to bring him in.

wait and see if Bellerin keeps his place in front of Debuchy. I'm about to pick up Monreal for Clyne, as I already have Ald and Davis, therefore; extra $$ itb.

I'm not keen on STH defence and I made the decision to remove Davies and omit Clyne/Bert.

Bellerin: the issues with him are twofold:

          1. Is he still no 1?

          2. I take the view that three ARS attacking players are needed in week 37. For me, that is Rambo, Gru and Sanchez. Bellerin blocks one of these players and even if you want some defensive coverage, gametime is still an issue.

            Yeah I agree.

Hmm yeah. But if I want to do that (get rid of Bellerin and bring in 3 Arsenal) it would require 5 transfers.

1 to get Giroud, 1 to get rid of Bellerin, 2 to bring in two of Ramsey/Ozil/Sanchez and then an extra one to free up necessary funds. Hmm.

Yes, a tricky one. I'd sit back and wait to see if Bellerin keeps his place. Not ideal I know but you will need to make a triple trade at some point.

We will never know. I suspect a fit Remy would start both games this week. After Chelsea beat United the pressure is really off, no need to rush Costa if Remy was fit and in form.

Drogba is dragging himself through games with an ankle problem that just won't go away. Age is catching up with the big man.

I had Schlup on my radar at one stage but went with Schmeichel as I already had the big three of Terry, Ivan and Skrytel. Needed two SUN defs as well so that ruled out a LEI defender.

Skyrtel was always ahead of Moreno tbh. Always does well in dgws. The guy in third overall has big balls for cap'n'n'g him.
