I'm thinking of burning through transfers to get a captain for every game day. By week 9 I've used 9 transfers but I have a cap each day and sure with 40 transfers...... ???????

Not a good idea IMO - you can get 8 captains out of 12 game days using no transfers at all (although the fixtures you get from these aren't optimal IMO). Using three transfers to switch out your captain gives you 9 captains from top 4 teams in the first 12 game days all with good fixtures i.e. Hazard, Rooney, Aguero etc

How does this look? First time trying the Sky game

    Scmeichel
    Coates Prodl Whitaker
    Hazard Mane Henderson Albrighton Ramsey
    Rooney Aguero

Not sure about the defence, or even if they'll start, but struggling to fund the midfield and attack.

      I like it a lot...

Solid throughout, captain options for first load of games. It is incredibly similar to my team though, so I guess I would like it.

Thanks. I've read through the pages and seen your advice and its been most helpful.

I was tempted by Tadic (6.5) over Mane. I also wasn't sure about Henderson. If I did go for Tadic then I could possibly go Firmimo instead of Henderson.

It seems that teams will be much more similar in Sky than FPL due to only 11 players and the price restrictions.

Does it ultimately come down to captain transfers?

Nice team structure - I think you may regret having both whitaker and prodl - they won't get you many points and will cost you transfers when you get fed up for them getting -ve points. Value defenders who pick up a decent number of clean sheets can be the difference between the top players and the rest

    Thoughts on this squad;

    De gea (pending transfer)
    Konscielny, ivanovic, jagielka

    Vary, benteke, costa

Bench- K Davis, delph, dann, fonte

Too much money spent in defence - 4.5 - 5 defenders are far better value
Invest the extra cash in midfield
      3-5-2 is optimal - I'd ditch Vardy

Am I a bit too lightweight in defence?

    Vorm

    Hazard Henderson Ramsey Cork Tadic
    Aguero Rooney

Your keeper needs to be for the season really - you don't want to waste a transfer getting rid of Vorm when Lloris returns
IMO defence is the right kind of price range - there's good value in the 4.5 - 5.2 range
It's the right idea in terms of team structure IMO

I go with one team from the start and use the other two teams later in the season to go for the monthly prizes. You can only set up two teams from the start though, the 3rd team becomes available half way through the season

      3-5-2 is the optimal formation
Expensive keepers aren't good value - Panti or Adrian are the picks this season IMO
      Sanchez won't start the season
Make sure you have a captain plan for at least the first 5 GWs

        Made some changes:

        Pantilimon
        Jenkinson, Morgan, Holebas
        Hazard, Henderson, Bolasie, Coquelin, Wanyama
        Aguero, Rooney

Feeling a lot more confident about this squad, although Wanyama is my only concern.

      Looks good to me.
Not a fan of Richards but that's personal preference.
Do you think aarons will play? Not sure who else in that price bracket would be good though - maybe Abdi if Watford don't sign an attacking mid
Make sure you have a plan to get Aguero in as captain GW4

      1. Planet Jo
        • 11 Years

I had high hopes of Aarons last season but he was always injured. Was £3.8m last season as well. He's been playing pre-season (I think).

Also considering Cabaye instead of Chadli.

Hmmm Aarons could be interesting. He's been subbed on for Gouffran in both friendlies so far. I seem to remember him being quite good before his injury last season. One to monitor!

I'd go Chadli over Cabaye early - on better fixtures, although Cabeye will get more bonus points. I prefer Mane to both though for slightly more.

No idea what I'm doing, but here goes -- looking for any kind of feedback on my set-up:

      Expensive keepers not worth it
If you downgrade cedric as well you can get a premium mid in - you need at least two premium mids IMO

I'm new to the Sky game, there seems to be a consensus here that 3-5- 2 is the optimal formation, what's the reason for this?

    1. d1sable
      • Has Moderation Rights
      8 years, 11 months ago

Articles coming soon to highlight this point but 3-5-2 is good essentially because mids score = to fwds for a cheaper price. Add in defenders score the worst so 3 is optimal.

    First draft:

    Schmeichel
    Soares Francis PVA
    Depay Hazard Cazorla Silva Payet
    Wilson Jerome

The team is based on fixtures, with a few gambles, the idea is to have an attacking team all over the pitch, to inevitably get the most points.
I would however like to have Mane in there too, and the strike force is due to the likes of Aguero and Sanchez potentially missing out at the start of the campaign.

    What you guys think?

    Is this 2nd effort better:

@Diasble - any chance you can advise on my team please:

Never played this before so haven't got a clue if this first draft is any good. By the way, I saw that you said that Ramsey is golden when fit but looking at the numbers it looks like Cazorla had a better Sky points per appearance last season, is the same price and (I would have said) more nailed on?

    Adrian
    Coates Kelly Schlupp
Hazard (c) Silva Cazorla Bolasie Abdi
    Aguero Costa

    Thanks 🙂

    1. Numb

Sorry, Costa should be Rooney (following advice on last page) - means 0.2 bank

Yes Cazorla is also amazing in Sky - always top 6 mids every season. Was once the games highest scorer in in first season with 262 point if i remember right.

Ramsey has more goals in his game so i prefer him but as you say is injury prone so its preference, Both gold.

I think the team is great aside from Kelly and Schlupp - both unknown at this time whether they will be first choice.

Kelly likely second fiddle to Ward

Schlupp has Fuchs and Ranieri tinkering to contend with

Need only nailed on players so i would monitor this

Thanks for the thoughts - yeah, not really sold on those defenders - I was basically looking for the cheapest ones in reasonable teams who would play - I wasn't sure about Kelly but I thought Schlupp might be OK - I guess that is up in the air with the Tinkerman though! Hopefully a cheap gem will emerge in pre-season!

Not really, but means if you didn't use your swap and were waiting to use it after the games to prepare for the next set you would have to do it before Thursday at midnight rather than Friday

    Bar with Walls: Adrian

    Hazard Milner Ramsey Mane Arnautovic
    Aguero Lukaku

Arnie can change but if he is a regular, he is good for 5.5m

If Aguero doesn't play the first game, should I start with Costa then change to Aguero or is that a waste of a transfer?

Spend the money and change a defender into a midfielder...

Its worth keeping money if you have a transfer plan. it's good to have enough to be able to switch captains around and get the heavy hitters, but with Aguero up top and Kane at 9.3 you only really need 0.5 to upgrade Kane to Costa. (I appreciate you might upgrade a mid).

I personally would look at losing Fonte or Fernandez and getting a decent mid or 2.

Not sure on kane myself either, but He could be as good as any up top

Here is my first stab at the Sky team (I say first its about my 15th, but my first on here):-

    Pantillimon

    Jenkinson / Ward / Coates

    Hazard / Silva / Ramsey / Abdi / Tadic

    Aguero / Rooney

I have worries over Abdi, Tadic and Coates... happy to with Coates for a promoted defender if needs be.

Abi is soon cheap that if he's not at least starting 70% of games it might be a complete team restructure.

Tadic I just need really for the first 4/5 games...

I do have concerns too about palace but ward takes the odd set piece and should play. Plus he's quite cheap and might get tackle bonus. He might be transferred out early if a cheap reliable option pops up. I like Martin too. He's on the reserve list. Might trust palace more over 20 games though. And unlike fpl if you can leave your defence for a long time more the better.

Thanks for the comment though and it's demo justified.

Has anyone considered doubling down on the West Ham value Jenkinson AND Adrian? Worked wonders for people with clyne/bert or forster/bert last season.

Yes i have, Jenkinson provides zero attacking threat and zero bonus though is the worry. Will have top Hope WH start getting clean sheets again.

      Have also considered multiple Sunderland:

Pants, PVA, Coates, Mathews - all could be great value and if they keep cleanies early on you will be off to a flyer....

      1. SinkingBrush
        • 8 Years

Yeah, i was slightly encouraged by Jenkinson's more marauding style at the u21 euros. Had thought that maybe Sam Allardyce's defensive impetus was hindering the defensive's ability to score points last season. Currently rolling with Adrian Jenko Coates and Martin, think that should shore me up for the first 5 GW's or so.

I think doubling on Sunderland is a good idea, they looked good at the back at the end of last season - I can see a fair few clean sheets in their first 10. I'm not sure Jenkinson can be ignored at 5, West Ham have good home fixtures early on - can always transfer him out when Europa kicks in.

What do people think the Sunderland backline will be? PVA - Coates - Brown/O'Shea - Matthews?

I assume Matthews has been brought in to play RB with Jones as back up. Will Coates be nailed on with Brown and O'Shea there? Any Sunderland fans have an opinion?

Matthews and Coates could be excellent if Sunderland are as tight as they were at the end of last season. Might even triple up with Panti.

    1. SinkingBrush
      • 8 Years
      8 years, 11 months ago

Not a Sunderland fan but Brown/O'Shea's time has to be up as a CB pairing, both in mid-30's and both committed several huge errors over the course of last season. Even if only one remains it opens the door for Coates to deputise. Speaking of Coates does anyone know if he'll be available for GW1 after having an extended Copa America break?

      A) Overpriced
      B) Excellent option
      C) Again looks excellent value
      D) Could be great again, wait and see for me.
      E) Unless nailed on, not an option. Monitor
      F) Will be great again i imagine Dawson at 5.5 looks the pick. Poor fixtures to start though.
      G) Lots of hopes pinned on them, cheap and cheerful could be this years Southampton but who knows....

A - Too attack minded a team to be worth spending extra on their defs.
      B - Guaranteed points
C - Could be on pens and will take more corners and free kicks than last year. Could also improve his bonus points without Gerrard there.
D - Too early to tell. Lots of competition for his place.
      E - Lots of competition.
F - Pulis guarantees CS's but they're not as cheap as last year.
G - Jenko and Adrian are well priced but Europa could affetc their output.

Some players on my mind that i would like a second opinion on.

Any thoughts on Bentaleb? Looked promising last year and at 5.2m could be someone to bring in the bonus points.

Schweinsteiger? Expensive, but expecting tackle and passing bonuses...big time

Deulofeu? Seemed promising last time he played in BPL. Surely Everton cant do much worse last year!

I think Schneiderlin would be a better option than Schweinsteiger. I have a sneaking suspicion Schwein could end up like Yaya in that position. Neat and tidy on the ball but slow and ponderous and a defensive liability. He'll get PBs but I don't think he'll get enough goals or assists to justify 8.5m

Deulofeu has got so much pace he can change a game in a instant. He was originally in my plans, few Everton fans have said sometimes he does too much and should deliver a final ball more often.

Everton have a few tricky start to the season, although and I always say this, playing easy teams doesn't always pan out how you think

Could Coates' position be in jeopardy now that Kaboul has gone to Sunderland? Or will O'Shea make way? The latter is less likely given the fact that he's captain, surely?

I think Coates was a very slight rotation issue before Kaboul, now im fairly sure he will be. Could be totally wrong of course but i prefer not to take the chance and waste a transfer
