Our usual post-Gameweek article for members arrives this evening as we delve deeper into the data for the first round of fixtures. Leicester’s two-goal hero, Man City and Southampton’s chief creators, Swansea’s improved goal threat and an eye-catching cameo from Arsenal’s Chilean all come under analysis.
Agree full stop.
Did you think that Gomis should have done a lot better with Shelvey's through balls? I felt he might turn out to be Giroud-like, if that makes sense.
Gomis isn't the best finisher, but he'll get lots of opportunities so it shouldn't matter. A bit like Giroud in that sense, yeah 🙂
Agreed! I really like the look of Swansea this season.
Some FPL returns to be reaped from the likes of Shelvey, Montero, Ayew & Gomis.Agree with you, watched the highlights too. They both look very threatening.
One route I'm considering is Wally & Roo -> Ayew & Kun in GW4 - that if I decide to keep Haz and go with only Kun as MCI attack.so, Ki>>Shelvey a good transfer?
Episode 4 is up. Check my profile for links 😀
enjoyed listening to episode 3, good stuff 🙂
Cheers AR!!!! 🙂
Competitor.. 🙂
i've seen noticed
Just subscribed to yours, Samaael 🙂 Looking forward to it on my morning commute tomorrow!
cool I will sub to yours as well.
Episode description needs an edit. 🙂
doesnt work 4 me
Should do.
Nice one. Just subscribed and listening to episode3.
That music. 😀
nope stoke are tight.. 1 goal at best so u would barely break even if he scores
Please RMT for this coming GW
Butland
Azp Mert Cedric O'Shea
Haz Ozil Chadli Milner
Roo(c) Pelle
Subs: Guzan Wanyama Wilson HuthI rate it as acceptable. I'd start Wilson over O'Shea or Mert.
sir payet or shaqiri?
Payet, but keep a close eye on Xherdan.
Payet, Shaq needs to settle
thanks wat abt wijneldum?
Absolute best of the lot without question. Pure pedigree.
Get him in after GW8.ok sir thanks
Already 'Locked in' for GW9 WC
Already in my Dead Team 😉
Shaqiri or Mirallas?
Shaqiri
neither, but if you insist Shaqiri
Draft team boyo
Noob question
If i join a league now will it include my gw1 score or start from gw2 onwards ?GW1
cheers
Pretty happy with this atm:

I don't think 3 big strikers is sustainable though. I'm sure Silva will approach near essential status come GW4, so he may be difficult to bring in. I'm not sure Sterling is going to be a good Silva substitute...
What are your plans for a City midfielder GW4 onwards? You getting Silva, Sterling, Yaya or no one?aguero sir 🙂
Very solid side with the big-hitters up front. A quite like the side.
Rooney/Mane > Kane/Silva?Personally, I'm pondering the same about Sterling. Is he a better alternative to Silva (and Toure).
I'll give him another week or so before making a decision.
An international break WC is most likely on the cards.I could do that in a couple of weeks, yup. Sounds like a good move if their prices stay the same...
Since I did Targett -> Gomez with my FT, I'm now down to couple of possible routes in GW4:
1. Wally & Roo -> Ayew & Kun (no hit)
2. Kos, Wally & Roo -> Komp, Ayew & Kun (-4)
3. Haz, Wally & Roo -> Yaya, Silva & Kun (-4)
Which one you think is the best?keeping Mane & Payet at all cost.
1 looks solid.
3 could be glorious. Triple City attack with those fixtures could be huge for you.Yeah. I like option 3 atm - I think I will get back those hit points in no time. Losing Haz (CPL) in GW4 would be an issue though, although I agree that Kun is a better captain option than him most weeks.
No need for 2 in gw4, Kosc & Komp are same price and there's no need for a hit on a defensive move. If its a good long term move you can surely do it week 5
Yeah I tend to agree now. Only that since I'm WCing GW9, it's all about maximizing points potential before the big GW, and I just think Komp will do better than Kos in GW4-8
so you think I should go route 1 or 3?
Yeah, probably 3 unless Hazard fires up in the next two weeks.
thanks ppl
Wow, the first side I've seen posted on FFS that has spent more up top than I have. 🙂
What is your front 3 Diva? 🙂
Same as yours but with Kane instead of Rooney. If they the big names all fire we've got a competitive advantage for a week or two I think. On the downside we're light on the big name midfielders. I'm liking the cheaper options there though more than up front at the minute.
Same reasoning as me 🙂
Fingers crossed Diva! 🙂Yep! Good luck this week!
I agree with your assessment.
Strike force is fine, its more the '4th' big striker Sanchez that unbalances things. Parts of 2013/14 I played Suarez/Rooney/Aguero for something like £34m up front and that was fine with maxing out midfielders at £8m. In your case the front 3 are slightly cheaper (though we're at lower TV at the moment) So I think Sanchez -> 8.5 or even Sanchez -> Silva will let you balance out the midfield better.
Great point.
This season has great cheap mid to enable these kinds of players though. Mahrez and Shelvey look great value.
So did 2013/14 with Adam Banana and Yohan Kebab, I just think 3 mid rangers is pushing it too far. I'd rather have two expensive mids and two mid rangers (perhaps rotating the mid rangers on fixtures and leaving in your two 9/8.5s in long term. Rather than one premium (sanchez in your case) and three mid rangers who you'll have to juggle really well. That's just my opinion on team structure though.
Oh and Ramsey breaking out.
Similar team to mine. have Kane Walcott Hazard instead of Kun Sanchez Ayew. with some variation in defence.
im giving Wally one more week at palace . Between would you prefer Payet over Ayew ?Tough to call. I think I prefer Ayew though. Purely because he gets goals over assists and he's 0.5m cheaper.
Would you start an attacking player from one team and a defender from an opposing team in the same GW (e.g. Ivan and Sterling this GW) or avoid this situation if you have option's on your bench even though they are cheaper?
I tend to play my best players in the best match ups no matter who is in my team attack v defense
So in this case you would play Sterling & Ivan if you had them as they combine 16m and leave someone like Ibe/Gomez/Mahrez on the bench even though they have an easier game?
I'd aim for most points. Ivanovic scoring would be annoying if he's one of your top 3 choices.
Do I need a change or Save FT ?
Casper
Azpi Cedric Coates
Haz Depay Ozil Milner
Roo (c) Pelle Troy
Schwarzer Sinclair Mert Francis
Thinking of changing sinclair to albrighton or Milner to Payet
Cheersanyone recommend transferring ramsey for a hit to eriksen or different 8.5/cheaper player? im just worried about where ramsey is gonna play with walcott and alexis now in the mix too
Nope. Ramsey will still start.
I wouldn't recommend that.
he will start central midfield
I like Eriksen but not so much to get him in for a hit
Thoughts on Rooney to Gomis this week then Ozil to Sanchez next week?
fwiw I'm keeping Roo for GW3
I'd rather save.
whom to start this gw? ayew or deeney? I have gomis... what say?
Start Ayew, IMO.
thanks bro... will start ayew!!!
Any chance Firmino might start after that hatrick ? really wanna see what this kid can do over 90 mins
what hattrick?
closed doors friendly monday night
In the friendly this week
I think he will, thought Lallana was pretty disappointing on Sunday so can see him coming in and Rodgers playing more of a 4-3-3 with Coutinho and Firmino either side of Benteke.
Thats what i was hoping for aye
Prediction of front 6 for Arsenal this week?
Coq Caz
Ox Ozi Ram
WallyThis.
Except Alexis in for Ox.
I'm not convinced Alexis starts. First sub on 60 minutes if we're not winning though
Walcott
Sanchez Ozil AO-C
Ramsey CazorlaWally Wally Wally Wally
Wally WallyI just want Walcott to start...
Giroud
Alexis Ozil Theo
Caz Coq
I think Ox will make may for Theo. Ox has bags of talent but arsenal currently needs the end product of the more experienced Theo.
Wenger should play both Theo and Giroud imo (hold up play of Giroud and pace and movement of Theo will benefit arsenal moreRamsey or Gru to sit out for Wally. Rest the same
.....Coq Caz
Ram Ozil Alexis
.......Giroud
Back to what worked well last season. Wally impact sub.Doubt Wally benched after 2-0 home defeat.
We said this on the tail end of last season though and he kept getting benched!
la la la la la la la la la!
Back then he wasnt fit. right now with preseason behind his back and a strong finish to the season i believe he'll get a run in if he starts and scores against palace
Did Wally help when he came on?
Wenger has been experimenting whilst Alexis has been out and it hasn't worked. Just thought he'd return to the XI that served him well last season.
I think wenger may prefer ox or wally in wings as they will offer genuine width
With Ramsey there arsenal will play more narrower making them easy to defend against.
Coq, Ox, Caz, Ram, San, Gir
Cheers all. Let's see if someone gets it right.
someone should run a rollover sweepstakes on picking starting XIs
I think the Arsenal front 6 alone is challenging enough when everyone is fit!
Make it real hard, make it predicting all of the top 4s line ups! Chelsea's is a bit of a given but United, City AND Arsenal would be an absolute mare,
Do I need a change or Save FT ?

GTG? 1FT, save or use?GTG - weigh up the transfer options next week with 2FTs in hand.
General consensus seems to be that Ramsey will make way in Wenger's starting XI against Palace?
One of him, Gru or Ox, IMO.
look above, most responses have him starting
This has really been toying with me, 🙂
I've got a feeling that I should ship Ramsey, although I know he's 85-90% going to start,
you never know after the 0-2 defeat home vs. the Hammers.
A) Ayew+1.5
B) Eriksen
C) Ramsey
I know DZ is the perfect time to post this.
Your thoughts are always valued 🙂 ThanksI like A.
Cheers Diva
C) Save and reassess.
Yeah? hmm
I really want to catch on Spurs home to Stoke or Swansea home to Newcastle.
Arsenal vs Palace and Liverpool, for me, the points will be shared fairly equally 🙂
B for me, I'm always a big advocate of Eriksen, he's hovering near the top of my shortlist of replacing Wally
For me, it's a gut feeling ever since that 4th minute attempt by him.
He looked very sharp, definitely haven't decided yet 🙂
Depends on your main reasons for choosing him to begin with. Has anything fundamentally changed? Now we know about Ayew and that the Arsenal to challenge for title hype should be tempered. Other than that, Ramsey still solid.
Honestly, I'm not planning on shipping him due to him not starting.
He didn't look to bad either but was deployed on the wing, yet played in the middle majority of the game. IMO he's meant to play in the middle.
Ultimetely what I'm trying to get at is that the likes of Eriksen/Ayew look much better options right now. 🙂Perfectly legit. I don't think you can really go wrong. All are strong contenders. Depends mostly on whether you want to wait another week when you have more information. Everyone is all about Mahrez, Payet and Ayew right now. In a week, more info helps shape the landscape. Ayew looks solid. Eriksen definitely quality.
Alright,
thanks for your input!
Follow up question 🙂
Is Ayew expected even a slight chance of a price rise in the next 24-30 hours?
why are the price changes so slow
we're 5 days into a season...
I'm not sure they are, but I offered some suggestions on the last page.
Turd has data on previous season's week 1 has always been quieter than future weeks. I think in 2013 it was ~40% below season average activity.
Ah, I'd love to see that data. It makes sense because in theory people should have set up for a run of games so they shouldn't need to make too many changes immediately.
This is his taableau profile with all his work over the last few seasons:
http://public.tableau.com/profile/turd1461#!/
While this is the specific sheet I was referring to:
http://public.tableau.com/profile/turd1461#!/vizhome/2013-14FPLplayerpricechanges/FPLpricechangesAwesome, thanks Balders. I look forward to exploring those!
BTW, when I said "I'm not they are" I was saying I don't think there much different to GW1 in other years, not other gameweeks generally. 🙂
ahh gotcha, yeah I think you're right. This one could fall slightly short as people don't realise there's a Friday game.
Yes, it will be interesting to see if the crowd acts differently today to a normal Thursday.
assuming no injuries. best 4.5 defender for the rest of the season??
Michah Richards.
Huth
Joemez
or Francis, probably Francis. Tipping him for this year's PVA
Gomez won't stay in the starting XI all year, that's for sure.
If he lasts past the transfer window, he has a shot.
4.6
My Current Front line...
Hazard, Ozil, Sterling, Maharez, (Barry)
Rooney, Aguero, Wilson.
Any transfer you guys suggest??? Sterling to xyz may be?Sterling>Silva
Ozil>SanchezLol... Wish I could do Wilson > Costa also...!
Wilson>Kane
I'd probably bank the free transfer there mate
Were the prices fallers predicted correctly by the price tracking sites? Concerned a little about Walcott at 70%
Walcott has to last the day tomorrow, let's hope
How many will Newcastle put past Swansea do you all reckon?
1 or 2
1

Swans home win to 0
Public health announcement: Don't watch both episodes of Match of the Day then listen to the Scoutcast just before you go to sleep.
Otherwise you could end up like me. Jolted awake at 4am have dreamt that somehow Payet had gone up 0.2m overnight. Terrifying!
Urrgh... and it's only GW2 haha!Which one is more attacking?
A. Ki
B.Shelvey
C.KouatyeSick and tired of this Walcott fixation, its all im hearing all week. Talk about overkill
What did you decide to do? How was your week?
Yep. Just hoping he lasts to the deadline. Then he will get shipped to fund Aguero.
Just get San(c)hez and be done with it 😉
Did you take a hit to get him? Or shipped Haz?
Walcott/Fabregas -> San(c)hez/Ayew (-4)
Pretty confident the two I brought in are not one week wonders and I'd want them for a while to come yet.
It's also hilarious how people are asking in hidden wordings like TM above.
Asks "Predicted Arsenal front 6" instead of "Is Walcott going to start" 😛Just do what I did and sell him, then you don't have to worry any more! 😉
But I know that gets a big thumbs down from you (and could come back to bite me!)Seriously though, I know you hate losing TV and I know you like saving a FT of you can, so if it looks like Walcott will drop which way will you break?
dat score you got though...
Shaqiri is going to have a fight you'd think to get in the Stoke midfield.
Not a sentence I would think I'd be writing. What a joke. Straight on the wing, surely.
Way too good to be at Stoke... wasting his career.not really
IBE - Have him as my only Liverpool attacking coverage and a juicy home game against Bournemouth is tempting me to insert into my starting 11.
Is there anyone out of my current front 7 that can make way for him this GW only or could he be rotated for Firmino?
Hazard Wally Sterling Mahrez
Defoe Rooney PelleMahrez has the hardest fixture
8 years, 10 months ago
This man flu is keeping me up 🙁
I've just been watching Chelsea 2-2 Swansea highlights. My word Swansea look good.
Montero made a mockery of the Chelsea defence all afternoon, he looks like a name to watch in the future. Ayew, who can also play as a striker, was taking up the ST position many times during the match. Swansea practically played with Gomis and Ayew up front at times. As seen here: http://streamable.com/a0rk
If Montero, Siggy and Shelvey stay fit, Gomis and Ayew should be knocking in goals for fun this season. Those 3 creative players look key though.
