Suspensions

The Suspension Tightrope – Gameweek 8

Gameweek 8 saw two more players topple off the Suspension Tightrope as we head into the second international break of the season. Sunderland centre-back Sebastian Coates was the first guilty party after earning his fifth yellow of 2015/16 in the second half of yesterday’s home draw against West Ham.

Coates will now miss the Black Cats’ trip to West Brom next time out as the Wearsiders prepare for life without Dick Advocaat after the Dutchman resigned earlier today.

This afternoon, Coates was joined by Tottenham’s Eric Dier, who has now been booked in five of the first eight league matches in his new central midfield role. The 10%-owned defender, who had been drafted in by over 25,000 Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers prior to today’s caution, will now miss the Gameweek 9 home encounter with Liverpool.

Despite losing those two to suspension, the Tightrope now boasts ten faces – three more than last weekend.

Ciaran Clark, Jeffrey Schlupp, Jack Colback, Billy Jones and Dele Alli all remain on four yellows and are joined by five new entries this time round. City pair Eliaquim Mangala and Fernandinho incurred the referee’s wrath in yesterday’s 6-1 romp over Newcastle at the Etihad, whilst West Ham’s Mark Noble is another fresh recruit after collecting a yellow card in the 2-2 stalemate at Sunderland.

Oriol Romeu is also added to the mix. The midfielder picked up his fourth caution in as many league starts for Southampton against former club Chelsea yesterday – he’s managed that feat in just 371 minutes of top-flight action. Earlier today, United full-back Matteo Darmian found his way into the referee’s notebook in the 3-0 loss to Arsenal.

The weekend brought further woe for the Black Cats, with Jeremain Lens set to miss the Gameweek 9 trip to the Hawthorns. The Dutchman – whose goal in yesterday’s draw means he played a part in five of the Wearsiders’ eight goals under Advocaat – was dismissed after receiving cautions for fouls on Carl Jenkinson and Winston Reid either side of the half-time break against the Hammers.

In terms of newly available players, Chelsea’s Diego Costa, Watford’s Valon Behrami and Everton wide man Kevin Mirallas are all in the frame in Gameweek 9 after they served the last of three-match bans for violent conduct this weekend.

Huge risk in my opinion. I am as big of a Klopp fan as anyone, have even been a few times to Dortmund just to watch them play.

However, he will put into place a project which will take time and money and could well be wonderful.

What they need right now is a bit of a stability and results, which Ancelotti could bring(safer bet, not guaranteed) than Klopp.

Klopp has the greater potential I think but higher risk too (And it would kill me to see him fail at Liverpool, arguably one of the toughest jobs in football).

Any bad things about having Wanyama as a 5th mid (benchwarmer)? He seems nailed on and costs only 4.3. The only thing I can think of is that I won´t be able to have three other Sothon players.

It was a choice between Soaré and Francis for me last week to replace Wes Morgan.

I chose Francis but only because he has better BPS scores even when they lose. Francis has tough fixtures coming up but I usually play Cedric, Bellern and Kolarov ever week anyway so Francis is my back up in case one of my starters gets rested.

Soaré is excellent value especially with Palace's upcoming run.

Is Sanchez truly essential at the moment?
I remember last season looking back at his points over the year and noticed how reliable he was against the teams you'd expect him to do well against. He was certainly NOT fixture proof but it made him a great captaincy choice when he had a good fixture which probably elevated his status on here as he brought back hauls when they were needed/expected.

However Arsenal's next 5 are all against tough defences so is there a real need to bring him in right now if it means taking hits and redistributing the money? Personally I'm quite happy to keep Ozil ticking over and then rebalance the squad to bring him in for GW14. My armband will be on Kun most of those weeks as well so not too worried about missing out on captain material of which Sanchez certainly is.

Of course the counter argument is that he's in great form and not owning is too risky but I personally will be Sanchezless for the near future. Interesting to get some more thoughts on this.

Indeed, I was going to note this. It could be a sign of things to come, but I would like to see more evidence of this than just one game. Ozil hardly dissapointed anyway which gave me protection against Sanchez explosion

And they seem to favor quite an open sort of play.... 🙂

    Bellerin, Adewiereld, Kolarov, Cresswell, (BAKER*NPD)

    Walcott, Ayew, KDB, Payet, Sako

    Aguero, Vardy, (watmore)

    what are my priorities here,

Any suggestions on this lot lads? 1 FT, 0.6 itb

    Butland Schmeicel
    Azpi Kolarov Cedric Francis Saylor*
    HAzard Sanchez Mahrez Payet Westwood
    Aguero Sakho Ighalo

maybe Hazard > Debruyne ? or Schmeicel > Myhill ?

    Hazard + Sakho > KDB + Pelle for a hit ?

If Mahrez was benched because of the threat from Norwich's left full back/winger. He will be up against Tadic+Bertrand next, and the week after be up against Souare+Bolasie. He could be benched for at least one of those games

I think you either need a decent bench option or you need to sell.

I'm keeping because I have big Wes ready to step in.

I believe he needed a rest, the best way to counteract such threats is to give them something to have to defend against.

Can't see why any hits would be required. You have Sanchez, KDB & Aguero so looks good to me

Mane & other African player clarification.

African Nations Championship is "exclusively featuring players who are active in the national championships and qualified to play in the ongoing season. Expatriate players, regardless of where they play, even in Africa, are not qualified to take part in the African Championship of Nations.

So if your like me & a concerned Mane owners / purchasers do not fear!! He will not be playing in Guinea 2 days befor hes due to play at 3 on saturday
