    Evening all!

Just looking a for little advice on what you think the best transfer(s) to make this week are. Currently set up like this:

    Begovic • McCarthy
    Kolarov • Kompany • Williams • Francis • Gomez
    Sánchez • Pedro • Payet • Mahrez
    Agüero • Martial • Vardy
    1FT 0.1ITB

Currently thinking about a hit for:

Kompany and Pedro > Bertrand and KBD (-4)

Really fancy Bertrand for BAPS, attacking potential and clean sheets. Regarding the latter, I mean to post some analysis on their defence and their assets.

Alternative is to do Pedro > Walcott for free, or Martial > Pelle.

The latter seems like too much of a knee jerk, but I do fancy Pelle.

Either way, I'll probably wait until later on to do it. I'd like to review Kompany's fitness before the weekend, as if he is fit I don't think a hit will be worth it, so I might save the FT and do the moves the following week.

    Thoughts?

I'd do Martial -> Pelle and keep the team as is, how have you had Kompany for so long?!

I've not had him that long, brought him in to be different by doubling up GW 5 and each weeks (barring last week) it's looked like he could/would start.

Bertrand is a good option, but I do feel you need Mane or Pelle more than KDB

Interesting. Pelle tempts me, I had him at the start of the season but sold him because I thought his goal scoring streak had ended. Mane is a decent shout too but I'm not sure about either being more important tha KDB.

Well defence isn't that important this season imo.

Last week my back 5 got 8 points, my front 6 got 101

Since you have Vardy, I'd be tempted to do Mahrez to Mane

      Evening

If Kompany is out, I'd go for the former transfer. If he's fit, then Pedro to Walcott looks good. Or you could just hope Pedro scores well against Villa and carry over a transfer to get KDB the following week.

        Thanks, reasonable options.

I'd like 3 City for Bournemouth so I'll either keep Kompany, or sell him and bring in KDB for a hit.

Just wondering whether I can save a ft transfers with this side this week but I will give some alternative options:

    Butland (McCarthy)
    Kolorov, Williams, Zouma (Richards, Gomez)
    Sanchez, Silva, Payet, Mahrez, Redmond
    Aguero (c), Vardy (Diouf)

I was going to sell Zouma for Bellerin/Dawson but surely he will start & surely they can keep a cs v Villa.
No attacking Soton is a worry but it would require hits to get Mane/Pelle in.
I could always use a ft on Richards/Gomez on Souare/Ward.

    Thoughts & thanks

I'd definitely hold Zouma - I really can't see him not starting after that Soton showing. Only concern is, you only have Richards as an active sub so any doubts going into GW9 will cause you a problem. As I mentioned, earlier, Diouf is unlikely to figure I'd say after his mother's death.

Which two defenders do you prefer (Muniesa & Gomez replacement):

    A) Alderweireld/B.Davies

Well I reckon Emre Can, Firmino and Coutinho will be biggest benefits of Klopp.
Can because it's possible he won't be played out of position, obviously. And Firmino because Klopp will be a big fan I imagine after his seasons in the Bundesliga, and will know how to use him unlike Rodgers. I don't think I recall Brendan starting him once in an interchanging front 3 system that suits him...

On the lineup, I'd guess a three man midfield, with Firmino/Coutinho free roles.

I read today that Brendan only agreed to the committee signing of Firmino if he could then get Benteke. Im so sick of players being played OOP. Although i dont rate Van Gaal too much i do think he is brilliant to watch infront of the cameras. Thats something that im looking forward to with Klopp

          Can Milner
          Firminho Sturridge Coutinho
          Benteke
Hendo for Can when back imo

Disagree. I think it looks awful, and it's a similar setup to what Rodgers would field. 😛 Klopp will probably prefer three midfielders, as that's a common preference among German teams/managers.

And Firmino isn't a classic #10 midfielder like most seem to think - he is much more of a forward player than that. Firmino is best suited to an inter-changing, free-flowing forward line, like at Hoffenheim where he would frequently alternate positions with Kevin Volland.

              Henderson, Can/Lucas, Milner/Can
              ---------Coutinho, Firmino
              --------------Sturridge

              Something like that. IMO...

At that level of executive seniority, with no accountable shareholders or board members, and the accompanying ego of a essentially a dictator, he is surely convinced that he is right and everyone else is wrong. With this kind of insularity and tenure, all of the allegations and attacks will be perceived as persecution and just make Sepp dig in further. It's pathological, and likely has been for a while. He needs to be simply fired, jailed, etc., and any expectation that he will step down is likely naive. It won't happen until or unless his freedom and/or riches are perceived to be at risk. IMO.

Thanks all. Very helpful; with the exception of the donkey one perhaps. Their av. stats are spookily similar...! Really nothing in it at all - i guess it's just that SOT have been scoring and Chels havent really.

Think the points about price and 'nailed-on-ness' are the key ones.

Problem is that experience would suggest that taking out a 'top-four' [i know...] midfielder ahead of a home game against AVL for a hit is normally a terrible idea...

As soon as Chelsea gets 2 wins in a row, I'd expect them to start winning again.

The problem is the morale. Mourinho probably has a few problems in the dressing room but now that the Board has released a statement that they back Mourinho, I think he could be a bit less worried about the job and start working on Man Management.

Oh, yeah, he can do a good job out wide. What I mean is, he's not a Klopp type winger. He's not a Reus or a Blaszczykowski. Not quick enough for one thing. It's not that I don't think he's a decent option on the wing more that he's more akin to Sahin or Bender.

Thinking off ditching Everton, for Palace and Newcastle i.e Surman and Lukaku to Bolasie/Cabaye and Mitrovic.

    Thoughts please guys.

Not a chance. Lukaku is a fantastic pick.

      My other 6 are template,

      Sanchez Mata Mane Payet
      Kun Vardy

Maybe a couple of differentials is a good thing?

I kind of agree, Bolasie/Mitrovic both look like potentially very nice under-the-radar differentials, establishing themselves as focal points in their teams' attacks after a disrupted start to the season.

I'm also a strong believer in 8-man attacks. I think in the long run the amount you save by picking someone like Surman is at least partly counterbalanced by the lack of rising team value from that position. And having 8 players isn't for fixture rotation (though that can be useful) so much as allowing you to avoid panic transfers and hits. I think in general people hugely underestimate how often even key players miss out through minor injury, rest/rotation etc. Those who are able to hold players like Silva, Mahrez for a week or two and still field a strong attack without taking extra hits are in a much stronger position over the course of a season I reckon.

Yup, loves to kill teams off in the first 30 minutes especially. High pressing game.

Yes, fast paced attacking football. His teams can be fairly handy on the counter attack too.

Ultimately likes his teams to press though, so don't be surprised at a few defensive mistakes. They aren't uncommon with Klopp's style.

    What's up with Gomis?

Was it just because he's faced tougher defences recently?

Rikkha's community article on team trends indicates that may be the case.

      Worth having a look.

Personally, unless there are mass injuries in my team I'm getting rid.

Agreed, Gomis to Pelle looks the route to go cash permitting but I've still go flames to stamp on elsewhere. Gomis stays for me with shaky Stoke up next.

I suspect he is just middling good and his first four weeks were serendipity. He will probably score again, but not consistently (I fear this will end up happening with Vardy too).

Off the top of my head, Swansea haven't had many shots recently and since Gomis is very wasteful, he needs a lot of chances to score.

They also started pre season early to get a head start on the other teams fitness wise etc. I think everyone else has caught up now so their form will have dropped somewhat because of that.

Ruddy and Boruc look set to drop.

Top 3 transfers out look like Yaya, Pedro and Gomis w/ Pedro the closest to dropping at -43.4 % (the others should take much longer).

Dawson (97%) and Gomes (92%) closest to a rise.

Ruddy has been meaning to drop for the past month, so i believe he's untouchable and won't drop.

Really? About 30k transfers out net since GW1 when priced at 4.5 (as he is now)...maybe it finally happens?

    Begovic,mccarthy
    Sagna,cresswell,francis,Gomez,Ward
    Sanchez,Mahrez,KDB,Hoolahan,Payet
    Martial,Kun,Vardy

    0m in the bank. 1FT.

What to do? Sagna might not play much. That counts for Gomez too. I am also tempted by Martial to Pelle.

I think it looks fine. If you want to do martial to Pelle them there doesn't seem any real problems. Wait until Sanga is rotated before ditching him imo

Depends on international minutes across City midfield. I'd say he's still first choice but City have Sevilla in midweek and rotation in those positions looks inevitable.
