The Weekend Team News

Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are both sidelined until after the international break. Newcastle’s Jack Colback is out for six weeks with a knee injury, Winston Reid could return for the Hammers, whilst Bojan is back for Stoke after recovering from a toe problem.

Arsenal have been dealt a major blow with the news that Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain have been ruled out until after next month’s international break. The pair picked up calf and hamstring injuries during the midweek cup loss at Sheffield Wednesday, with Arsene Wenger admitting he could play Joel Campbell or Alex Iwobi on the right flank due an increasing lack of options. Wenger has also revealed that he expects Oxlade-Chamberlain to return to action quicker than Walcott.

Seamus Coleman is a major doubt for Everton’s home clash with Sunderland after picking up a stomach bug over the last few days. Leighton Baines and Mo Besic will return to first-team training today but the weekend is likely to come too soon for the pair.

Mark Hughes has revealed that defender Marc Muniesa will be sidelined for three to four weeks after suffering a hamstring injury in the midweek cup victory against Chelsea. The weekend will also come too soon for fellow centre-back Geoff Cameron, who came off early with a thigh issue in last weekend’s loss to Watford – Hughes has suggested that the American requires another four to five days to recover. Mame Biram Diouf and Jon Walters are both expected to be available despite soreness and a dead leg respectively following the Chelsea tie. Elsewhere, Bojan is set to return for the Potters having been rested due to a toe problem in midweek, while Glen Johnson is also expected to be in contention – he missed the Chelsea clash with a knock but is back in training.

Newcastle have suffered an injury blow with the news that midfielder Jack Colback is ruled out for up to six weeks with the knee injury that forced him off during last week’s derby loss at Sunderland.

Slaven Bilic suggests that the Hammers almost have a clean bill of health for the weekend. Key defender Winston Reid is back in training, though the Hammers boss has conceded he will have to “wait and see” if the New Zealand international is fully fit. Alex Song remains unavailable.

Swansea have a fully fit squad for the weekend visit of Arsenal, with Garry Monk confirming that winger Wayne Routledge is back in contention having trained all week.

Leandro Ulloa will be assessed ahead of the weekend, after missing recent matches with a thigh problem. Foxes boss Claudio Ranieri has suggested that the forward “is ready” for the Hawthorns trip.

A non-committal Tony Pulis has revealed West Brom “have one or two knocks” ahead of the visit of Leicester.

Sunderland will give Fabio Borini, Ola Toivonen, Younes Kaboul and John O’Shea as much time as possible before making a late decision on their fitness.

All this and more has now been updated in the Team News section ahead of tomorrow’s deadline. Keep an eye on our official Twitter Stream for breaking news – as the day unfolds, we will issue updates from Friday’s press conferences and refresh our Team News tab accordingly to keep you informed.

Galloway for Everton? They have a great run of fixtures and he's dirt cheap.

    Any thoughts?

Baines is back in training so expect him to be dropped soon, unless Mori fails badly then he could play centre half.

Do Arsenal's injuries make Sanchez a more or less appealing captain choice for this week? On one hand, the squad is worse than before; on the other, is he more likely to be involved in any goal(s) they score vs. Swansea?

Don't think the injuries affect Sanchez really. Cazorla has been outstanding, Ozil massively creative, Giroud brings the midfield into play.

For all those who are considering on getting Ozil:

Arsene: '' I am considering Campbell or another midfielder for the position on the right. ''

... Since Arsene already confirmed that Cazorla will not move wide, that only leaves us with Ozil. Flamini and Coquelin at the base of midfield, Cazorla no 10, Ozil on the right. And I guess that's where he has played the worst football of his career?

    Butland
    Kolorov, VVD, Evans
    Sanchez, KDB, Payet, Mahrez
    Lukaku, Pelle, Vardy
    McCarthy, Cresswell, Sinclair, Richards

1 FT and 3m in the bank.

I thought i had enough funds to do Sinclair to Mane but i'm 0.1 short so my options are:

    A) McCarthy to Stekelenburg
    B) Evans to Moreno/Toby/Bellerin
    C) Sinclair to Mane and Richards to Simpson (Free up some funds) for a 4 point hit.

Chelsea have Bournemouth, Watford and Sunderland at home as 3 of 4 games from GW15, the other being away to Leicester. Does this make Costa cruicial for this period?

I'm thinking of planning the funds here for a Vardy to Costa move. This will be instead of getting Aguero in, with a view to Costa to Aguero after these fixtures

Agreed. But Chelsea's December fixtures are as easy as they could be, and they'll pick up wins eventually. Leicester's December fixtures are awful.

I think Costa is an expensive, injury prone, yellow card magnet that is afraid of bonus points in a team in the middle of a meltdown. That would make him unessential in my opinion.

      1. vardys party
        • 8 Years
        8 years, 7 months ago

Fair enough! I'd just be concerned about having no Chelsea cover for that run of fixtures. I also think their meltdown will end soon, possibly coinciding with this run

haha sorry my comment was way more ar5ey than I intended. But yeah I agree it could well end very soon (and I'd been holding Hazard for that reason until yesterday), but with all the other options at the moment, Aguero due back in a few weeks and the type of player Costa is... I just don't see a case for even considering him!

Walcott to Mane. Mane in, Mahrez out.

      C. I'd be wanting to keep Souare for his fixtures in a couple of weeks.

There are lots of really good options up front this week aren't there. In fact if you discount the Leicester v WBA fixture where everyone is guessing the fixtures are quite good for potential points.

Yep. Could easily be one of those weeks where all the options do well and nobody gains any ground.

Already have 2 players each from mci and sou. Make sense to triple up with either vvd or sagna?

Tough one. Hard to see a Eve CS with all the enthusiasm going on at Sun and the injuries ravaging Eve's backline. Probably Darmian.

As much as the Valencia news is great for me, I need some serious help with this one.

    Butland
    X - Bellerin - VvD
    Sanchez - KdB (C) - Payet - Mahrez
    Lukaku - Pelle (V) - Vardy

    McCarthy - X - Westwood - Richards

X: To play (first bench for the other)
    A) Darmian
    B) Dawson

I'm more confident in a Mun CS, but Lei are horrible at defending set pieces and I can easily see a Dawson goal. Also I'm pretty certain my rival this week will be fielding double WBA defence (or at least Myhill) and playing Dawson would obviously counter that should the Lei goalfest come to an end.

    Thanks in advance.

    Captain dilemma guys?!

    Kane or KDB?

    Thanks

Prob Kane. KDB might get subbed off if they're cruising - but if they're cruising he's likely to have been involved.

Martial to Kane for a -4?
Jonny Evans or Dann if one has to play? I have Vardy playing so kinda relying on Leicester to score but such a difficult one to call

No, that's my plan as well.

Could get the points back this GW, and I belive it's a good long term move.
