Suspensions

The Suspension Tightrope – Gameweek 12

Tottenham’s Erik Lamela become the latest player to topple off the Suspension Tightrope after earning his fifth caution of the campaign during this afternoon’s north London derby at the Emirates. The in-form Argentine – whose absence could pave the way for fit-again Heung Min-Son to stake a claim for a starting berth – misses Spurs’ upcoming home match-up against West Ham United but will be available when Chelsea roll up to White Hart Lane in Gameweek 14.

With five new arrivals over the weekend’s fixtures, the Suspension Tightrope is drawing quite the crowd – there’s now an 18-strong band of wrongdoers on four bookings as we head into the international break.

Southampton’s Graziano Pelle is certainly the most pertinent of the new recruits from a Fantasy perspective. The Saints’ leading marksman currently sits at a hefty 34% ownership – having bagged four goals and as many assists in seven starts – and will be wary of committing further indiscretions ahead of a home tie against Aston Villa in Gameweek 15.

The Italian was joined by James McCarthy, Chris Brunt, Glenn Whelan and Cheick Tiote. The Newcastle enforcer has now chalked up more yellow cards (53) than any player in the Premier League since he made the switch to St James’ Park in August 2010.

In terms of new bans, West Brom defender Gareth McAuley received his marching orders for denying Anthony Martial a clear goal scoring opportunity at Old Trafford, making him the only recipient of a red card throughout the weekend. The Northern Ireland international has been handed a one-match suspension and misses out when Arsenal pay visit after the international break, returning for a trip to West Ham in Gameweek 14.

After the 2-0 defeat, Baggies boss Tony Pulis was somewhat critical of the centre-half and acknowledged McAuley’s challenge left referee Mike Dean with little alternative:

“Gareth McAuley (for the red card and penalty) should have stayed on his feet and if the kid scores the kid scores…It’s difficult for Mike. You could feel, with a couple of minutes to go, that he might look at it differently. But the letter of the law says that if he’s last man and he brings him down he has to send him off.”

Aside from McAuley, James Collins is the only other player serving out a suspension during the next round of fixtures. The Hammers’ seasoned centre-back has two fixtures remaining on his three-match ban, ruling him out of a road tie against Tottenham Hotspur and a home clash against West Brom. With Winston Reid back in the frame, however, it’s unlikely that Collins will reclaim a starting berth upon his return.

United’s Matteo Darmian is now available for the upcoming trip to Watford after he fell off last week’s Tightrope. Norwich skipper Russell Martin and Southampton’s Victor Wanyama are both back in contention after they were dismissed during last week’s matches.

As always, mainly thanks to our resident Tightrope expert Anorak, who has been keeping us up-to-date via his twitter stream.

Had an absolute shocker with recent transfers.....

GW9- Sterling > KDB (Sterling scores a hatty)
GW10- Ayew > Payet (Ayew scores a rare goal, Payet's nice run comes to an end)
GW11- Coutinho > Barkley (Coutinho scores 3 goals + 6BAPS in next two weeks, Barkley 4pts)

So I sold Targett last week to make sure I wasn't gunna sell anymore big hauls.

    Team now is:
    Butland (McCarthy)
    VVD - Smalling - Kolorov
    Payet* - Barkley - Sanchez - KDB - Mahrez
    Vardy(c) - Pelle

    Ighalo - Bellerin - JEvans
    1.4 ITB 1FT

I'm now starting to look at ways to get in Kun. But it's not going to be easy as I need to find more than 3mil from somewhere. Who to downgrade to find the money? Have 4 premium DFers, so one of those can go for sure

          sorry, just scanned that quick.

          Payet is around 8 something?

          Him to a 4.5 gets you 3.5m?
Plus the 1.4ITB makes around 4.9?

          Pelle 8.5 plus 4.9 = 13.4 ish?

Sorry if im getting this wrong, on the phone

    Genuine questions.

Anyone know when usually the club conduct the scan process, is it usually next day after the incidence or few days later?

And when usually they make the result public, as in right away after the scan or on next press conferences?

    Thanks.

Scans are usually on the Monday, but we may not find out any results for a while. Even more unclear with it being international week

First time hearing it usually on Monday. Good stuff!

Agreed, international break make it very unclear as club want to protect their assets from international match while half fit.

        Thanks!

Irons respond to Payet on crutches pic.

West Ham are refusing to over-react to the picture we have published this evening of Dimitri Payet leaving Upton Park on crutches with his foot in a protective boot.

However, the boot is obviously in place for precautionary reasons as the club still have no diagnosis of the problem facing the French midfielder or that facing Enner Valencia who also left the ground on crutches after being taken off the Boleyn pitch by stretcher.

The two are set for scans tomorrow (Mon) assuming that any bruising allows the damage – if any – to be seen but in the meantime everybody is holding their breath hoping for the best whilst preparing for the worst.

Our best source at the club declared: “It’s still too early to say, but we have to prepare ourselves as it could be very bad news on both. We will know more over the coming seven days.”

Oh, didn't noticed Valencia was off injured too. Hope both of them make a speedy recovery, especially Payet.

Looks like we just need to sit tight for the news.

        Thanks TM!

Bilic said after the match the scan would be tomorrow and they'd know the full extent of the injury within the "next 7 days" (from Saturday). They likely won't be revealed in public until the next press conference. Although they might put a special update on the website if its good news and traffic is slow after the international break.

Ouch. Next press conferences should be right before the next match right? That's a very long wait.

Hope they make a special update instead and we can ease our mind.

You made the right decision. Dawson will keep just as many cs as DDG and is someone you need to think about long term.

Reason: KDB is more consistent and should profit from Kun return. Consistency is key. But keep a return path in mind for Sanchez.

I haven't taken a -4 hit for a while but will do so this week as I'm 0.1 short from bringing in Ozil for Payet

Zouma & Payet out - Bertrand & Ozil in. I might do these transfers tonight as I notice Zouma is -83.7 to drop & he's probably going to drop sometime in the near future & being in NZ the price changes always happen when I'm at work. I feel they're pretty safe transfers as Ozil & Bertrand won't be playing over the international break as far as I'm aware.

    Will give me for gw13:
    Butland (McCarthy)
    Smalling, Bellerin, Bertrand (Kolarov, Richards)
    Sanchez, Ozil, KDB, Mahrez (Redmond)
    Vardy, Lukaku (c), Pelle.

So do you like these moves
    (a) yes or
    (b) no

    Thanks in advance.

I do like the Lingard punt but long term, Xmas fixtures ahead etc, the 5th nees to be nailed as may well come in.

If you have a good 4th defender then maybe Lingard worth it

    What looks better going forward:

    A)
    Sanchez, Ozil, Coutinho/Eriksen, Mahrez, Bolasie
    Aguero, Lukaku (Ayoze)

    B)
Sanchez, Ozil, Mahrez, Bolasie (4.3 mid)
    Aguero, Kane, Lukaku

Could get the 4.3 mid up to 5.3 if I downgrade Kolarov but that will probably cost me a hit.

Team has been going downhill since aguero got injured. Sliding from top 1k to 22k over theast few weeks.

Big mistake came last night. Desperate times. I still had yet to join the Vardy party (had not had an injured striker since kun so always more.pressing matters) so when Bony wemt limping off i made the move, checking only a price rise prediction site and not on here.

Then I came here and heard about this gesture he made. Still can't see it in the news. Is he gonna get banned? Anyone got a link?

Made an obscene gesture towards the crowd or the linesman .. Suarez and Wilshere both faced bans for similar offences so Vardy might too

    Butland (Ruddy)
    Cedric, Azpi, Kolarov (Nyom, Huth)
    KDB, Sanchez, Payet, Mahrez (Wanyama)
    Lukaku, Pelle, Vardy

    2FT, 1.5ITB.

    1. Payet -> Coutinho. 2FT for next week to do Pelle, KDB -> Aguero, ??.

    2. Pelle -> Kane. This is the hardest as it leaves me with forcing to transfer Payet if he's not fit.

    3. Payet -> Bolasie. 2FT for Pelle, KDB -> Kun, Yaya.

    Thoughts?

That's the front line I'm looking at on wildcard. Sanchez, Ozil, Tadic, Lallana, Zaha is the midfield I'm toying with. The very definition of differential!

Morning gentleman! This season is going from bad to worse, ever since Aguero got injured I just haven't had a good gameweek and my hopes of catching the league leader are just sipping away! Help!!! My team with 2 FT:

    Myhill, Hennessey
    Kolarov, Rose, Naughton, Cresswell Morgan
Sanchez, Payet, Mahrez, De Bruyn, Cabaye
    Pelle, Bony, Vardy

I'm currently thinking of bringing Kane and Ighalo for Bony and Pelle and using the extra cash to bring in a united or arsenal defender for a hit.

Morning guys! Would you wildcard this lot now or just fix it with 2 FT's?

    Stekelenburg
    Bellerin, Williams, Cedric
    Sanchez, KDB, Mahrez, Payet
    Pelle, Vardy, Bony

    subs: Rudd --- Mertesacker, Huth, Bentaleb --- 2 FT's, 3.8 ITB

    A) Wildcard
    B) Bony, Payet and Mertesacker -> Lukaku, Özil and Smalling (-4)
    C) Bony -> Lukaku and save FT

If you use your WC when you have 2 FT you will lose those FT you've banked.
I'd be looking to take 2 punts with those FTs and then activate it the week after.

Punt maybe on Deulofeu,Lukaku, Bolasie, Cabaye

I went Mane, whilst keeping my fingers crossed that Payet is fine. My rationale... I think Ozil might be due a double rise, and I can afford a 0.1 drop on Payet before I lose SV, and if I were to sell Payet I wouldn't be able to get him back. If I want to get Mane back I need to spend an extra 0.1 (which I may make this week anyway (granted I won't be selling Ozil to cash is out).

Ultimately, I just fell Payet is the more consistent scorer. I drafted Mane becasuse he's quality and had great fixtures coming up, and he's just blanked for my (as captain) in two of the the easiest fixtures he'll get. He's just annoyed me! 🙂
