FFS Cup

The Fantasy Football Scout Cups – Entry Now Open

Fantasy Football Scout is pleased to announce two new Fantasy Premier League cup competitions.

First of all, we roll out the twelfth instalment of our open-to-all cup competition. This is your chance to join our previous winners – donnellyc, Jonty, Gribude, Goonerdave, Ninja_Fit_Saints, sleeping master, Mch, Wild Rover, Tdubb05 , CMIFLFC and our reigning champion Mark (no, really) in on our Cup hall of fame.

We’ve also opened entry for the sixth instalment of the Fantasy Football Scout Members Cup, as Waltzingmatildas looks to defend their title. Fuzzy Dunlop, Kippax Kickers , Acquafresca and Trigg were our other previous winners of this tournament.

If you’re familiar with our competitions you can get your entries in right now via the links below. If you’re new to all this, read on for an FAQ on the competitions.

Enter the Fantasy Football Scout Cup XII via the entry form here.

Members can also enter the Fantasy Football Scout Members Cup VI via this entry form.

How do the cup competitions work?

Our cup competitions are very similar to the Fantasy Premier League’s Fantasy Cup game. Entrants who qualify for the first round will be randomly drawn against each other and the winner of the tie is whoever has the highest score from that Gameweek, minus points spent on transfers (like in the original game and in head-to-head scores). In the event of a tie, the manager highest in the overall standings will progress.

When do they start?

The qualifying rounds for both cups will take place in Gameweek 22, with the first rounds running on Gameweek 23.

Fantasy managers can enter their teams from now right up to Tuesday January 19, when we’ll stop entry and will be drawing the first round ties from the qualifiers.

There will be 512 qualifiers for the Members Cup and 1024 for the Fantasy Football Scout Cup – depending on the number of entries. All our previous winners who enter will gain a bye into the first round draw where they will join the top scorers from Gameweek 22.

FPL standing will decide who progresses in the event of tied positions. The same rules apply in the Members Cup

How do I enter?

Enter the Fantasy Football Scout Cup XII via the entry form here.

Members can also enter the Members Cup VI via this entry form.

In both cases you will be sent a confirmation email to verify your entry and you’ll be asked to confirm your FPL team id at the point of entry – please be sure to click the link to verify that your team is correct before confirming.

To check that you’re entered correctly, please scan the list of current entries.

The Fantasy Football Scout Cup entry list can be found here.

The Fantasy Football Scout Members Cup entry list can be found here.

When will I find out if I’ve qualified?

Results from the qualifying rounds of both cups will be published on or around January 20 and then weekly from that point on.

What is the Gameweek Schedule?

These Cup competitions will be played out according to the following Gameweek schedule:

Runner Up: £100 Amazon Voucher

Do I have to enter if I’m previous winner?

Yes, because your FPL team ID will have changed, we will need to record your entry again. As a previous winner, you will be given a bye to the first round proper.

Do I need to be registered with Fantasy Football Scout?

We ask you to supply a FFScout username so we can feature you, as a member of our community, in any articles associated with the tournament. Ideally, you will already have a username with us but this is not essential to enter (although it is for the Members Cup) – you must, however, supply a username for the purpose of the tournament so you can be identified in articles. You must not change this username throughout the course of the tournament, should you do so without permission, or should you enter multiple teams or if your FFS account comes under moderation for any reason, we reserve the right to remove you from a tournament.

Yes, a few weeks back I was bigging up Arnautovic from the returns imminent tables, but I really think the hype surrounding Stoke players could backfire here. I don't think the fixtures are as good as people think, nor do I think they have been consistent enough this season to maintain the form they're in.

As a rule, Stoke either play defensively, or offensively in a given match. The only two games they managed to play as both was against Man United and Man City recently, which I believe were two rare results down to various circumstances.

Man City with no Kompany (with exception of last night) would mean they were unlikely to keep a CS. Coupled with the fact they had no Aguero and their away form is terrible, it was always going to be a tough game for them.
Man United were playing Jones at CB and Blind at LB. With injuries they had no Darmian, and Ashley Young was even playing at RB who costs them a goal from the FK that led to Arnautovic's goal.

I think these two good performances from Stoke were down to their opponents' defensive frailty as much as their own hard work. Let's look at their next 5 games:

wba, NOR, ARS, lei, mun, EVE

I think West Brom is a tough fixture and fully expect Pulis to get a clean sheet in this match. Especially when we consider that they've already shut out Stoke last time at the Britannia. This is the typical kind of situation that makes the Pulis effect kick in.

Norwich is the one fixture I think Stoke assets will deliver the points in, and can understand having the likes of Arnie, Shaq and Bó.

If Arsenal are still top of the table when this fixture arrives, there's no way in hell it's going to be an easy game for Stoke, they may even play defensively and hope for a low scoring draw.

Leicester could be another open game, but looking at them recently they have really tightened up. Taking away the Everton game, they've only conceded 3 goals in their last 6 matches (including matches against Chelsea, United, City and Liverpool)

Again, I expect United to keep a clean sheet this time round at Old Trafford, considering their defence is a lot stronger now and they've played Stoke already. They showed against Chelsea how resilient they are at home.

Everton could go either way, but I think after the 4-3 loss, they will be looking to keep it tight. We might even see Everton strengthen during the window given their poor season.

Good post. I'd kind of decided on this myself even though I like Arnie these past few games.

Good points raised here. I looked at Arnie last week and decided to not transfer him in based on the fact that historically he's not followed up his good performance from previous game. This pattern has followed this season too, exception was against Everton.

Secondly, as much as i like Mark Hughes, he has never been a consistent manager, Stoke are punching above their weight atm, pretty much what West Ham were doing earlier in the season.

a short term punt for NOR and ARS while Payet gets back to speed could work out. I agree that wba will be tricky.

Many looking at Arnie are shipping Ramsey or Barkley. I think this one has legs

TBH, the way Stoke attack has been quite sublime. If a defence sets up to park the bus, fair enough, but if the front 4 get to play I think they'll do a lot of damage.

As for Arnie, he's a winger cutting in to play striker at times in an attacking outfit. Only question is consistency, as he's always been hit and miss. But this team looks a very different beast.

Great post Bowstring, good points, the flip-side to consider, perhaps, is that Stoke are an evolving side, and afellay, bojan and shaqiri are starting to find their stride, playing fluid and incisive football with vision. I think Arnie is key and the fulcrum to this new style though. He could still be a good pick, albeit a bit of a punt

decent summary of Arnautović’s threat and increasing influence:

Regarding Hiddinks Presser, do we reckon Zouma will start vs Palace as Cahill is still struggling?

Alderweireld Bellerin Zouma Moreno Simpson is current defence

Gonna wait till tonight to decide on Zouma/Moreno > Wollscheid/Williams/Saints

Seriously contemplating selling Barkley for just 7.1 or Sterling to get in Arnie due to fixtures.

    Kol, Alder, Smalling, Cameron, Cathcart
    Ramsey, KDB, Mahrez, Ozil, Alli
    Kane, Vardy, Lukaku

    2FT and 1.4m ITB.

Cant see too much that I want to do so may just take out Cameron for Wollscheid as he is more nailed. Want to improve on McCarthy as 2nd keeper but Cech looks fine for the time being.

Are people who avoid benching 'headaches' just naturally boring people? I'll just leave this here and get back to my movie 😀

I don't. But I've also benched more than 20 points three times in the last 9 or so weeks.

Cristiano Ronaldo's last 3 calendar years in La Liga:

    2013: 38 goals, 11 assists
    2014: 38 goals, 13 assists
    2015: 37 goals, 12 assists

Dat consistency though! Rivaled only by Arsenal!

I'm considering swapping out Francis, but is it worth it to simply go to Daniels? Also have Cathcart and would prefer Smith...
