The ScoutCast – Episode 192 – Swansong

There’s emotion in the air as we prepare to bid goodbye to another season in tonight’s ScoutCast.

I’m joined by Jonty, Andy and Luke as we take the opportunity to look back on our campaigns, dwelling on our successes and regrets and recalling our favourite moments from a most testing Fantasy Football season.

We also take time to identify out lessons learned and appraise the Fantasy Premier League season, carrying out a “Chips Post Mortem”, whilst discussing the likely impact of next season’s Friday night kick-offs.

Finally, for one last time this term, we look forward to the weekend and attempt to identify the final day heroes who could yet make an impression on ranks and mini-leagues.

The ScoutCast is first aired live on our YouTube channel on Wednesday night. Be sure to subscribe to get a heads up on future broadcasts.

You can view the full Google Hangout version of this episode via the second player below or stream the edited audio from this link or the first player.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Any update on Defoe,
    To play or not?
    Leads me to:

A - Caroll > Long (hope Defoe plays)
    B - Defoe > Deeny (can't afford Long)

he is fit, but allardyce said he will play some youngsters. Whether this includes dropping defoe depends on if he thinks he needs one last game to win his Euros spot

I saw the massive Hot Topic about potential new chips.

I really worry about this. They introduced 3 chips this year and are already discussing new ones. If it keeps going like this, then in 3 or 4 years FPL will be unrecognisable and far too complex.

What has made this format successful is the way it kept to the basics. Points for goals, clean sheets and assists. Not for passes completed or clearances etc. Pick good players and sit back and enjoy. It was popular because it had the right level of simplicity to keep players of all types interested. The more it changes, the less important it is to pick good players rather than navigating a complicated set of rules and fixtures.

I already know people (we can call them 'casuals' I guess) who are quitting next year because it is too complex and requires too much commitment.

I think I liked the chips. The time and effort which I put into deciding into using them though seems disproportionate to the return I received from them.

Next season I would like an oven chip

Maybe this season wasn't too bad but it could escalate if they're given a positive response. A few small changes season by season lead to massive long term change. A new player trying out the game is going to be bamboozled.

    Hello guys.

    DDG
    PVA, Smalling, Bellerin
    Payet, Tadic, Sanchez, Hazard
    Aguero, Carroll, Defoe

    Subs: Darlow --- Lanzini, Simpson , Delaney --- 0 FT, 2.5 itb

    A) Stick
    B) Carroll -> Giroud for a hit

I just have a feeling Carroll might not play 90. But thats pure intuition. AVL is a shambles but Giroud isnt the only one who can score in Arsenal. Tho he should be nailed for 90 100%.

Repost from yesterday morning just need some feedback & advice if Uni may 48 pts all chips used behind 3rd in my ML for money anybody think i can overtake him in the last GW?

    His Squad:

    Hart
    Alderweireld Daniels Van Dijk
    Mahrez Payet Iwobi Albrighton
    Aguero Lukaku Kane

    Bench Huth,Ozil,Dann & Hennessy

    My Squad:

    Gomes
    PVA,Bellerin,Gabriel,
    Sanchez(C) Payet,Noble,Lamela
    Aguero,Deeney,Carroll

    Bench:Coutinho,Daniels & Huth

Think about doing Tadic & Mane > Coutinho & Lamela for a -4 hit (52 pts if i do make he transfer) good idea or bad idea?

    1p lead in my ML
    his team

    Gomes
    Walker, Moreno,Nyom, Morgan, Wolly
    Wijnaldum, Barkley, Firmino, Mahrez,Sanchez
    Ighalo, Lukaku, Aguero

    my team
    DDG
    Bellerin, Alderweireld, PVA (Simpson, Cresswell)
    Mahrez, Hazard, Antonio, Firmino (King)
    Aguero, Kane, Defoe

Hazard --> Sanchez as a safety transfer seems like the logical move as my team is generally "better"?
    Ideas?

I probably do not have any playing keepers this gameweek (Migs/Robles). Should I get DDG or anyother keeper in, or should I make some other change to my team?
    Rest of team is :
    Simpson, Gabriel, Bellerin, Delany, Sakho
    Sanchez, KDB, Hazard, Townsend, Lazini
    Kun, Carrol, Defoe.

    1. samaael
      • 13 Years

tough. Defoe might not play but you seem to have him covered in midfield. I would get a keeper

    2. NABIL - FPL otai
      • 11 Years
      8 years, 1 month ago

      same here. Migs/Robles

And we have the same frontline too.

      We're screwed.

Nothing's set in stone. Try Migs -> Forster if you want to, or one of Townsend/Lanzini -> Tadic if you have extra $, or Carroll/Defoe -> Long if you'e feeling punty.

      1. sillyhilly69
        • 8 Years

No. Migs is more likely to play than Robles. Personally a -4 hit isn't worth it for a keeper imo. I'd be happy with the zero.

    Robles
    Smalling/ Lovren/ Bellerin
    Sanchez/ Hazard/ Bolasie/ Payet
    Aguero/ Carroll/ Defoe

    Darlow/ Simpson/ Sakho/ Nasri

    1FT 1.4ITB

    a) Nasri - Tadic/ Bolasie - Mane (leaves 2 arsenal/ double Saints att)
    b) Nasri - S.Davis/ Carroll - Giroud
    c) Nasri- Mane
    d) Bolasie- Tadic

What do we think Everton will do without a manager? Goalfest or lose 3-0?

IMO caretaker managers first thing they try to do is tighten the defence. So probably will not concede as many as usual

You'd have to assume their fans will be in good voice and a better atmosphere - players like Barkley & Lukaku will thrive in those conditions. 3-1 I say.

    DDG (Robles)
    Gabriel Pva (Rose Moreno Cresswell)
    Ali Sanchez Hazard lanzini Firmino
    Carrol Sturridge Martial

    A) Ali to Mane
    B) not play Aoa and fix something else with a suggestion

Looking for replacement for Carroll (-4). What do you reckon is more likely to happen:

    A) Kane gets 10+ points vs. the relegated Toons
    B) Long scores a brace vs. CPL reserve team
    C) Carroll has a field day at Britannia - miracles happen 🙂

    Thanks.

Is it worth a -4 to replace one of Mignolet and Robles?

I'm 9 points away from the top 10k, and really want to get in there. Thinking about bringing in Tadic or Mané for Coutinho, but I only have 1FT.

So I guess my question is, how likely is De Gea to score more than 4?

That's not very promising. I wish I didn't have three arsenal already, so I could bring in their keeper. Oh well, may just start Mignolet and hope he plays.

I am afraid that almost everybody on this forum has consistently got this wrong.

I don't pretend to know, either. But I do know that Klopp is desperate for every point that he can get.

I haven't gone near Liverpool for that exact reason, couldn't predict a single thing in terms of their starting lineups, just a complete random minefield.

However for this weekend, no matter how many "starters" he keeps in the team... SURELY he can't risk Sturridge 3 days before the final against Pulis' 7 CBs when he has an "in-form" Benteke waiting in the wings pushing for match fitness before the euros?
I could be very wrong but I'd be selling if it were me.
