Dugout FC Returns to Fantasy Football Scout

We’re delighted to announce that Fantasy Football Scout are once again supporting Dugout FC ahead of the new season.

Not only have we reset our league from last year, due to the demand (we still have 69 divisions of active players), we’ve also created a brand new Fantasy Football Scout North league in preparation for the upcoming campaign.

If you missed the opportunity to get involved a year ago, we urge you to read on and see what all the fuss is about.

What is it?

Dugout FC and other draft-based Fantasy games take us back to our Fantasy Football roots; rolling back the years to a time when we played with a team consisting of unique players, dear to our hearts, over the course of the season.

If you fondly remember games where nobody but you could own Premier League goal machines such as Alan Shearer or Thierry Henry, then Dugout FC should provide you with some fuzzy warm nostalgia.

Having said that, the game is very much up to date, with all manner of technology in play: online matchday hubs for real-time updates and live chat; IOS and Android mobile apps; an Opta stats-based scoring model and the ability to run your draft night and conduct transfers in-game are all catered for.

You’ve got the option to go full old-school and gather a bunch of mates in a pub to take part in the all-important draft in your private league, although the mobile app essentially means you have the whole game in your pocket on the go.

You can log in to the virtual “draft room” and bid against friends or complete strangers by joining a public league. There’s even an option to draw up a shortlist of desired players to take care of your draft, in case you miss out on the night.

You can also set up games to run over the course of the season, or just for a month or week.

Why Should I Play?

First of all, it’s free to play. With that in mind, we really have been struggling to find a catch.

The appeal of draft games cannot be understated. There really is nothing quite like the drama and twists produced on draft night.

The plotting, the intrigue, the tactics, the highs of bagging your star pick and the lows of having to dip into the bin of rejects to complete your squad – it’s fair to say it’s one of the reasons I fell in love with Fantasy Football all those years ago.

Dugout FC takes the faff out of all the draft logistics, whilst claiming to have a unique Opta-based scoring system, taking over 2,000 events of every match into account, which they reckon is one of the best around.

Once the draft is complete, you’ll compete in a league of ten on a head-to-head basis – with three points for a win and one for a draw.

Each league can have multiple divisions and Dugout FC even takes care of the promotion and relegation up and down the ladder at the end of every season.

Your squad will consist of 18 players following the draft, although you can swap out assets to pick up free agents from the player pool at any time. You can also enter into negotiations for swap deals with other managers in your division – it’s all taken care of within Dugout FC’s tech.

The game takes this further by generating stories of transfer speculation on behind-the-scenes wheeling and dealing in your division.

How Do I Start?

By registering here: https://www.dugoutfc.com.

As mentioned, it’s free to join.

You’ll then need to decide whether to join a league or set up your own. You can create leagues that run for the season, the month, or just for a week.

If you’ve got an odd number of players wanting to join, Dugout FC will provide a Caretaker Manager to play against one person each week for the three points. The Caretaker Manager scores the average of all other teams in the division for that week.

Once that’s sorted, arranging a time for your draft date is the main priority.

Bear in mind that, with the new app, you can log in to the draft night whilst on the go.

As we mentioned, we now have a Fantasy Football Scout South League with 69 divisions and a new North League, just waiting for you to enter your teams and be allocated into a division.

You can join the new Fantasy Football Scout League via this link.

It’s first come, first served, so the earlier you get involved, the higher the division of our new league you’ll be placed in.

Our default auction date for each division is currently Friday, August 5, at 8pm UK time. Don’t forget you can use the app to get involved.

We will be running our own draft at that time over in the top division of the Fantasy Football Scout South – a league made up of myself, Jonty, Granville and other staff members – and we may even launch a live Google Hangout for the occasion.

For more information about Dugout FC, visit their FAQ.

We’ll be following this article up with a more in-depth scan of Dugout FC’s scoring system and auction night strategies next week.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Here's what I don't understand about friendlies....

70% of the minutes go to players that will only make a handful of match day squads at best.
What's the point in sharpening the fitness of players you'll hardly use anyway?

Would really appreciate feedback on my team (2nd draft)

    Foster (Jakupovic)

Azpilicueta Shaw Morgan (van Aanholt Pieters)

    Hazard Firmino Sigurdsson Zaha (Ibe)

    Aguero Lukaku Gray

I would squeeze a bit more money out of the defence and upgrade Zaha. Also Ibe to 4.5

Too much money spent on the defence imo

Also should probably make your 5th mid a 4.5

Use the cash to upgrade the mid. Zaha to Townsend to start personally

Having 5m PVA on the bench. Downgrade him to possibly friend of boro or someone.

Could also downgrade Morgan and just have two premium defenders, it's all personal choice

        • 8 Years

I wouldn't go over 5.5. Shaw, Terry, Stones (if City) all good picks then depending of you have 2 or 3 premium teams i would go 2 premium, 3 4.5m OR 3 premium 1 4.5m and 1 4m

He will be Conte's main CB going forward I believe, with Zouma eventually replacing Cahill. Conte is all about having a "general" in both the defense and midfield and that is what Terry is defensively. (Basing this off his time at Juve, where as a fan I watched him play a 35 year old Andrea Pirlo every game so Terry's age shouldn't be a concern imo)

Aren't Arsenal missing half their team? I think Liverpool will run riot first game and even with their fixtures being "tough" to start, that won't really mean that their offense will stutter. Coutinho in for me; 0.5 cheaper than Firmino (who I would have loved to have) and on most set pieces swayed it Lil Phil's way.

    3-5-2 Formation

    Foster
    Shaw I Terry I Evans

It's different i'll say that, but i would reconsider that midfield, the Bojan pick makes me feel uneasy and unsure if Sanchez will even start GW 1, plus arsenals fixtures aren't the best anyway, same goes for Sturridge really.

      Shaw at 5.5

Fuchs at 5.5, the Baps machine

Stones could be good at 5.0 if he moves to city

      Gabriel at 5.0

Lots of decent 4.5s to choose from

Shaw, Stones if he goes to City and Gabriel. Would be tempted to leave Fuchs until we see how Leicester shape up. How will they react to being the team everyone wants to beat?

    2. Zikry
      • 9 Years

Currently on the following, will try to explain each choice:

      1) Terry - at 5.5 and on the team I personally believe will have the most CS he was #1 on my list. Conte naming him captain and the fact that Conte loves the no-nonsense type defenders makes me think Terry will shine. Having Kante as coverage ahead of him will be huge for Chelsea.

      2) Fuchs - BAPS machine. I only looked into the first 3 MDs with this pick and with MD 1 & 3 I can see CS and bonus points when it comes to him. Picked him over the cheaper Morgan just because of his BAPS potential.

      3) Friend - Relatively kind run of fixtures to start. I think Karanka will come out and want to try to be as tough as possible to break down, especially at home.

      4) Ashley Williams - BAPS machine ala Fuchs. Think his first 2 games are really good in terms of potential.

      5) Souare - This really could have been a number of players (Kone from Sunderland, Pieters from Stoke) just had a feeling Souare's fixtures were a little kinder to start.

Watchlist I'd say. Everton likely to start season without Jags and maybe Stones which reduces chances of clean sheets and it's unclear whether Baines will get a share of free kicks and corners at the moment.

Think John Terry will play every game under Conte and can see him having an excellent scoring season, he's just the sort of mentality to shine under Conte I really think him and Shaw will be my 2 nailed defenders.

A lot of people here (including me) wouldn't believe in "attacking coverage" but more just picking the players you want based on how you think they will do.

Having said that, aguero is almost essential (no one fully is) and I'd probably advise some sort of United presence

Everton have good fixtures so that's another team you could look at in an attacking sense

I've pretty much got the same defence. Why wouldn't you want United, City and Chelsea covered off defensively, and all done so cheaply. Rest of team is fine assuming Deulofeu and Bolasie start off in the No 10 roles for their clubs as they have been in pre-season.

harder to compare defenders with attackers in that sense I think, given that attackers like Sterling are often judged on their goals and assists contributions

We are all in agreement that he has a lot to learn and overplays.. he is a very accomplished ball player and just needs the right coach to bring him on help him to cut out the bad habits he has and develop him first and foremost as a defender.. i can't think of one centre back in my lifetime that was complete at the age he is now they normally peak between 27 and 32.. Pep is no mug he obviously sees something he can work on there

I don't think he's an accomplished ball player.

I think he has the ability to look stylish in possession, probably could say he has a decent range of passing.

But a real lack of ability to sense danger and make the right decisions.

Maybe he will improve if he works with Pep.

Aye his defensive game is all over the shop he's like young David Luiz.. concerned with trying to make things happen rather than doing his job and stopping things from happening.. only thing is as far as i know Luiz is still like that.. Stones has time on his side Pep could make a serious player out of him.. maybe he has plans to play him in a defensive midfield role who knows.. Pep is very inventive that way

To think I've sat next to the soon-to-be most expensive player in football history

To think you're considering a gameweek 1 wildcard

Is Aguero, Ibra, KDB and Hazard overkill?

It all depends what the rest of the team looks like

Probably. Would be hard to create any sort of team from the money remaining.

If there even is a rest of the team after that...

      Foster / Jakupovic

      Pieters / Shaw / Stones / Friend / B. Smith

      Hazard / KDB / Barkley / D.Gray / Mendy

      Aguero / Ibra / Ulloa

All assumes a bit of jiggery pokery in the next couple of weeks in the transfer market

Considering the big players you have shoehorned in it could be worse. I think it does suffer though

I don't know about the rest of you guys but I'm really really happy about my team set up. The only changes I'll be doing is if stones doesn't move and if Palace buy a striker
