The ScoutCast – Episode 199 – Buttons

Jonty knows just what buttons to press.

When he slyly accuses me of adopting the template midfield, I’m visibly rattled. Leaping to defend myself, Jonty claims victory in this bout of Fantasy manager mind games and may have forced me into a hasty transfer I will come to regret.

Andy and Luke watch on, but it’s not long before they earn our attention, having pressed significant buttons of their own – both are post-Wildcard.

We analyse their Gameweeks, move to recite tales from the community and then take on another round of your questions, which finds us looking into yet another player relationship theory that will have Roberto Firmino owners rather concerned.

This episode of the ScoutCast was first beamed live via our YouTube channel on Tuesday night. Be sure to subscribe to get notice of future live episodes.

You can grab the old fashioned mp3 audio version via this link or the first player below, or watch me get riled via the Google Hangout version in the second player.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Non FPL player related:

How do I see the cut-off scores for the Last Man Standing Competition? Also, might be a stupid question, but if you don't get to the safety score, you're removed from the league on the fpl site I presume?

TM will reveal the cut-off scores here and he will remove the players from the FPL site who don't get to the safety score score.

Alright late night tinkers and early risers, hope we're all doing well.

I'm still shuffling about on my WC at almost 5am 😀

Is 3-5-2 insanity? I've never used it before but I'm currently looking to run this:

    Foster / Pickford

    Williams / Lovren / Stones / Amat / Francis

    Sánchez / Walcott / Mané / Sterling / Firmino

    Agüero / Rashford / Grabben

The other draft I had before had Lukaku instead of Grabben and Carrick for Firmino however I just feel there's more value in Midfield right now and it also give's me an extra 1mil to upgrade my defence.

Any thought's would be great, thanks.

I actually got in Rashford this week for Gray with my FT. I had 0.5 in bank for Gray to Rash and save 0.1. I'd have got Deeney, but I fell in the price rise trap as Gray would have fallen again too which wouldn't allow me to get Rash by 0.1.
I'd have just selected Defoe by cashing on Capoue(on hindsight)

Yes I would go with 3-5-2....Firmino has far better fixtures than Lukaku. Lukaku is also suffering from a toe problem so he might not be at his best.

Had Lukaku captain all week but the news about a lingering toe problem has given me concerns,
-he could be less than 100%
    -could be taken off early
-could take another knock and come off

It should be an easy decision to switch to Sanchez but
-Burnley are reasonably solid at home
-midweek game where he played 90 mins

Lukaku and Sanchez owners without Ibra, who is your choice?

    1. Grand Thibauto

      Aguerooooo. Don't own Lukaku though.

    2. Grand Thibauto

Btw Ibra played full 90 last night. So if thats your reasoning, Sanchez should be the way to go.

Taking it you dont have aguero?

his had the toe problem all season, i think it shouldnt really affect this decision. i do own both and id put Lukaku ahead of sanchez for this week since i think crystal palace v everton will provide goals. Im going aguero though, he loves playing spurs.. and even if he didnt have that record on them id still probably captain in the form his in.

Mostly. Also it would be boring to captain him by default every week and kind of defeats the point of paying 11.0 for Snachez

I'm still no closer to deciding this damn armband.

Lukaku - home, scored 4 in 5 games on pens vs a defensively very avg Palace. Does have a toe issue and is a Troll. But best Fixture. Has scored in 3 of the last 4 against Palace. and there was a Baines pen in there too which he'd now have.Palace conceded 2 against a rubbish SUN with no Dann at the back. Not sure James Tomkins is feared by any striker. Palace away P3 conceded 4.

Kun - in form - on pens, scored 5 goals in 4 PL appearances - against poor opposition though (sun stk swa) - Spurs haven't conceded more than 1 goal in a game yet. Man City missing KDB. Spurs beat City twice last year, home and away. Prior to last years defeats, Kun had scored 9 in 4 games against Spurs. Think this is a far better Spurs team than then though. Spurs away, P3 conceded 2.

Sanchez - in form - 4 goals in his last 4 PL appearances. Sanchez has played against Burnley 3 times and scored 3 goals. People are saying Burnley are solid at the back... hmmm not sure. They kept Liverpool out GW2, but they've also had 3 put past them twice. Against Chelsea and Leicester. Both away - their home form is much better. Played 4 conceded 2. Arsenal do look in the mood at the moment.

For some reason my head is saying Lukaku.
But City and Arseanl are in the mood for scoring goals. Lukaku or Sanchez...... arrrggghhhhh

About aguero playing a spurs that werent as good then as they are now.. Pretty sure he had fun playing them last season aswell and they were in fine defensive form! Also think man city are a better team now than then also.

Suprising sanchez has played them that often. that obviously wasnt premier league so dont think id read too much into that.

For me its aguero or lukaku... the form has got me on aguero

      1. gbpearce - AMERICAN DYCHO
        • 9 Years
        7 years, 8 months ago

Kun didn't score against them last year. KDB was playing also.
For me, this is season defining game for Spurs, they'll want to show that their contenders. Agree with you though, City are better now than last year.

Alexis scored 2 against burnley in the league at home last year (none away) and one in the FA cup at home.

        1. Helia

totally forgot burnley were in the premier league last year (not last season but the season before). Didnt make sense to me for a minute lol.

You do have some great points. The uneasyness im feeling about captaincy options makes it easy for me to decide to put it on kun. Goodluck!

morning dzzz....bummed that sanchez rose, was planning to get him in tonight.

My transfer for this gw depends on if I am WC-ing next gw. Initial plan was to hit the WC to bring in kun but i realised i can get kun without using WC and i am generally happy with my mids hence not sure anymore. 2m itb

    Foster jaku
    valencia stones friend pieters souare
    firmino antonio ozil capoue sterling
    ibra kaku benteke

A: stones >> bellerin IF i am WC-ing next gw to bring in kun, sort out defence, get rid jaku and maybe ozil
B: souare >> holebas, NO WC and just do ibra >> kun gw8 and gradually sort out def over time

    B. Kdb diomande > Rashford Walcott and play AOA chip

Too many better choices I think, especially the way WH are playing. I have Payet and really want to keep him but WH need to improve and quickly!!

Awful pick. Ditch all west ham players after this GW.

Hey guys, I'm wondering if Lee Grant will keep getting game time over Given whilst Butland is out? He has some glorious fixtures ahead and he's only 4mil

It's true, but Butland is apparently recovering quickly.

When's Butland supposed to be back? If he's 6 or more GW's away I might take the punt next GW

Saw a YT of a Stoke reporter saying he'd (JB) said 4 weeks last week. Reporter sounded a bit skeptical but you never know, worth a punt? Maybe.

Evans an able deputy for Baines this GW to save the FT (AOA played last week)?

...have Foster also, so not overly happy with double up but better than using up my FT surely?

    Good morning DZ.

Want to take a one week punt on Hazard before I WC.

-25%. Surely he won't drop before his game?

    Thanks.

He's not falling again anytime soon, you have breathing space.

If you're wildcarding then you can just take him out of your squad after the deadline anyway

Won't press the WC button until Sunday. So he might drop in between. Hopefully he won't. Cheers.

You still get his GW7 points if you get rid.

I count 8, or is it a trick question and the answer is 7?

Love how spread out the captaincy picks are this week! San(c)hez for me. Playing last is a huge bonus.

Playing last is a bonus? How so?

If my captain plays first and scores a hatty then its a nice relaxing weekend for me.
