Dugout Discussion – Arsenal vs Man City

After Gylfi Sigurdsson disappointed during Swansea’s goalless draw with Middlesbrough at the Liberty, Gameweek 30 comes to its conclusion with the small matter of a 4pm showdown between Arsenal and Man City at the Emirates Stadium.

Two of the top five captained players in this round of fixtures go head-to-head now, with Sergio Aguero and Alexis Sanchez handed the armband by 8.8% and 5.7% of Fantasy Premier League managers respectively.

Sanchez, certainly, is the most reliable of the pair, serving up a goal or assist in 13 of his last 15 league outings to clinch a place at the top of the FPL leaderboard.

Aguero has upped his output in recent weeks, though, with two goals and an assist in his previous four appearances.

Up against a defence that’s been breached three times in three of their last four league fixtures, the Argentine goes in search of a fifth double-figure away haul.

With Arsenal playing ten times in the remaining eight Gameweeks and City boasting nine fixtures over that stretch, the likes of Raheem Sterling, Leroy Sane, Mesut Ozil and Danny Welbeck also have a chance to impress, with the latter handed a third straight start by Arsene Wenger.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Was planning Mane/Aguero to Sanchez/Ibra, and will probably go through with it. Not feeling as good about it as I did yesterday, though...

Me too, and for a hit. I still have time to ponder other options, and I now have Llorente on my sh*t list, but I still think i want my money invested in Ibrah and Sanchez going forward.

I was going to do that, but think Aguero at home to Hull could be big and don't forget he is a dgw'er. Might do Baines + Mane > Davies + Sanchez instead

That Routledge guy is I think his favourite player
He plays him every week and when he has someone on bench with 8-15 points Routledge play no part in the game
If he has no one coming from bench then Routledge us there to give him 2-3 points

      What is the ICT Index?
The ICT Index is a football statistical index developed specifically to assess a player as an FPL asset. It uses match event data to generate a single score for three key areas – Influence, Creativity and Threat. These figures then combine to create an individual’s ICT Index score. It condenses more than 40 match event statistics into four distinct scores. These offer a view on player performance for factors that are known to produce FPL points.

      1. Influence

Influence is the first measurement - this evaluates the degree to which that player has made an impact on a match, or matches over the season. It takes into account events and actions that could directly or indirectly effect the match outcome. At the very top level these are decisive actions like goals and assists. However, the Influence score also processes significant defensive actions to analyse the effectiveness of defenders and goalkeepers.

      2. Creativity

Creativity assesses player performance in terms of producing goal scoring opportunities for others. It can be used as a guide to identify the players most likely to supply assists. While this analyses frequency of passing and crossing, it also considers pitch location and the incisiveness of the final ball.

      3. Threat

Threat is the third measure, producing a value that examines a player’s threat on goal; it therefore gauges those individuals most likely to score goals. While attempts are the key action, the Index looks at pitch location, giving greater weight to actions that are regarded as the best openings to register a goal. All three of these scores are then combined to create an overall ICT Index score. That then offers a single figure that presents a view on that player as an FPL asset.
