Swansea City are the next side to be assessed as part of our in-depth team-by-team analysis series for members.

We start by checking in on the team statistics in an attempt to spot trends or improvements over the past 12 months before we shift to analyse player data, as we attempt to narrow the field ahead of the new campaign.

Having been ensconced in the security of mid-table in 2015/16 – claiming 47 points to finish in twelfth position – the Swans were left floundering last season. With just three wins in the opening 19 Gameweeks of 2016/17, the Welsh outfit looked doomed at the midway point until the arrival of Paul Clement.

Appointed as successor to Francesco Guidolin, the new manager chalked up four victories in his first six fixtures to steer his side out of the drop zone. Swansea ultimately clinched fifteenth spot on 41 points – seven clear of relegation, scoring 45 goals.

      Alonso also has possibility of clean sheets, Willian more of a chance of attacking returns. I have both in mine but its a toss up, probably Alonso.

      Unless you plan to wildcard early I would go Alonso.
      Willian will probably be prone to rotation at some point and it could be tricky to fit Alonso in down the line.

      Lot of question marks in there with Gayle, Brunt, and Begovic. Not sure if Fabs will be nailed on for long either unfortunately

        Brunt will be on set pieces,Begovic will be competing for the GK role and Gayle will more than likely be a first starter can he do it on the Prem that's for us to find out as for Fabregas will get more of a chance with Matic not in the frame anymore

          Bakayoko will be nailed upon his return Matic was never really in the plans and if Fabs does get his run out he'll be playing too deep for my liking. Gayle's history at Palace shows he can not do it in the prem. If set pieces are all you want then the palace lad or Mooy are both better options than Brunt who will likely play reverse oop anyway. At 4.5 you don't want to gamble on someone "competing" for the starting role when you can have a sure fire starter at GK

      Matic unlikely to get much in MU set up
      Rangel unlikely to play much, get a lesser owned 4.0

    Defo think you have to go with your gut and who you think will shine. Too many people too many different opinions. I like advice but think it confuses matters too

      I have DDG and I'm actually going to take a punt on Danilo initially. If Pep gets the tiki taki approach right this season and if Kompany stays fit, city could be very strong defensively

          Oh then i'm not sure, you didn't mention it would be 2 4.0 defenders. Maybe downgrade Danilo so you get a 4.5 on your bench for safety

    Chicharito vs Gabbiadini ?

    I was trolled by Gabbiadin last season, Put the armband on him in a DGW (at least I did not use TC 🙂 ) so I want to avoid him... But I see 2 advantages in him:

    1 - Best fixtures
    2 - He is not a new signing so he is less risky in theory

      Probably not. Iwobi and Welbeck could be ahead of him, even with Sanchez out. Just save yourself the headache

      Would consider Laca (nailed + pens) and Ramsey (gets into a lot of good positions in the new formation, looks nailed).
      Would avoid Ozil (think he's overpriced).

      Maybe a little..Im in similar situation but have Kompany instead of Bailly. I dont think Bailly is 100 percent nailed? If only Pied was nailed this would be a lot easier

    I have never been close to having so much trouble putting up my gw1 team, so many options it's ridiculous. Missing out on so many good options in all three positions, can't see how i'm gonna push a Liverpool player into this team...
