Dugout Discussion – Brighton vs Newcastle

Sunday’s solitary fixture gets underway at 4pm as promoted pair Brighton and Hove Albion and Newcastle United square up at the Amex Stadium.

With many now filling their forward lines with premium frontman, we get the chance to run the rule over a trio of budget midfielders today.

The Seagulls’ Pascal Gross has played a part in all four of his side’s goals so far, serving up two goals and a pair of assists in his last two outings.

He was the second top transfer target for Gameweek 6, with over 381,000 transfers in.

For the Magpies, Matt Ritchie has bagged four assists in his previous three, while Christian Atsu’s goal and assist over his last two starts has also turned heads.

Indeed Ritchie and Atsu, along with team-mates Jamaal Lascelles and Chancel Mbemba have been subject to heavy investment over the last week, with a combined 783,000+ transfers in.

Newcastle number one Rob Elliot is the most owned player for Sunday’s clash, sitting in 23.7% of squads after conceding just once in his previous three. Yet he is the most benched player in the Gameweek, with over 808,000 naming him among their subs.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

      Lukaku

Lukaku is only considered as important as he is because of ownership. People forget he plays for a Mourinho team.

He? .... Kaku, Kun and Morata have all scored 6 in 6 ... Kun has 3 assists to go with his goal

Kane has 4 goals in 3 .... might as well ignore August

Lukaku's is so long that the sperm probably lose interest before they get to the end so I'd say he's the most impotent.

    De Gea / Elliot
    Davies / Dawson / Mee / Yoshida / mbemba
    Mkhi / Eriksen / Carroll / Chabolah / RLC
    Kun / Kane / Lukaku

    1FT 0.0itb

Kind of wanted to transfer out Yoshida this gameweek however surprised to see him playing full 90 vs Man Utd. I am thinking of just saving FT for next week and hoping he keeps his place for now. Was looking at Creaswell to replace but West Ham looking like CS will be hard to come by but he can chip in with some attacking returns as well.

    Thoughts?

    MATCH FACTS

    Head-to-head

Newcastle were the only team to do the double over the Seagulls in last season's Championship, including scoring two goals in the last 10 minutes to win 2-1 at Brighton.
This is the first-ever top-flight meeting between the clubs.

    Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton's only Premier League victory so far this season came in their last home game, when they beat West Brom 3-1.
The Seagulls have used 16 players in this season's Premier League, fewer than any other side.
Pascal Gross has been involved in all four of Brighton's Premier League goals this season, with two goals and two assists.
Chris Hughton has not won any of his six league matches as a manager against his former club Newcastle (D2, L4).

    Newcastle United

After beginning the Premier League season with back-to-back defeats, Newcastle have now won their last three matches.
Matt Ritchie has provided four assists in those three games. His total of 11 assists in the league since the start of last season is more than any other Newcastle player.
If Newcastle win, their tally of 12 points would be the third best by a promoted club after six matches of a Premier League season. The two clubs to beat this - Blackburn Rovers (14 in 1992-93) and Nottingham Forest (14 in 1994-95) - went on to finish fourth and third respectively.
Jamaal Lascelles could become the first Newcastle defender to score in three top-flight games in a row since 2011. All four of his Premier League goals have been headers from corners.
Newcastle have had the youngest average starting XI in the Premier League this season, aged 25 years and 208 days.
