The ScoutCast – Episode 234 – Tri-Force

No more no less. Three is the magic number.

In a week where we ponder shifting to a “power three” in our line-ups, the ScoutCast is reduced to its own Tri-force, as Jonty and Andy join me as part of a skeleton crew for this latest episode.

Don’t worry, somehow we still manage to string things out for 80 minutes. After all, there is much to discuss, not least the current emphasis on the big strikers and the demise of Bobby Firmino – the driving force behind my apparently ill-time Wildcard.

Talking of which, with Jonty’s own Wildcard booked in for the international break, he eagerly assesses the forthcoming “fixture swing” that promotes investment in Man City and Chelsea, among others.

Elsewhere your community questions guide us to examine the latest optimum formation and to check in with “piggy bank” Marcos Alonso’s after his cruel 58th-minute withdrawal in the Potteries.

This ScoutCast was first beamed live via our YouTube channel on Tuesday night. Be sure to subscribe to get notice of future live episodes.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

How many points more than your original team would you consider a success on the free hit chip? For me, it would be 20.

This is particularly pertinent now with all the injuries. People to have already played their free hit will undoubtedly get more points this coming GW than they would have otherwise, but the following week they'll be stuck with a bunch of injured players. They'll either have to take hits to get them out, or bench some and have their subs come on. So it's not as simple as, say, 20 points gained on your old team over the week you play the chip.

Cheers. I have transferred out Mendy and Jesus (regrettably) but I don't think I should use it already.

To be fair, it will be in 2 weeks' time and some of those injuries will have cleared up.

does the free hit chip bank your FT?

can you make a transfer first, then play free hit?

          1. Pierce34
            • 8 Years
            6 years, 8 months ago

It works exactly the same way as the wildcard with regards to any transfers you make over the GW that you activate it. (the only difference being that your team goes back to what it was the week after, and you'd have 1 FT)

            1. livingbeetroot

so you could potentially tinker with your team all week, then decide on Saturday morning to play wildcard or free hit to avoid points deduction.

      100 points for me

Imo this is the strongest chip in the game other than the wildcards. The thing is that it's not just about the week you use it. If you save it for a blank gameweek it saves you a whole lot of other points you would lose getting good players out because they are playing a cup game. It's also the safest chip because you can predict starting lineups fairly confidently. Bench boost is a gigantic lottery and TC can be powerful but there's always a chance that a stud DGW captain limps off in the 5th minute. Free hit could be worth about 50 points.

Just seen the Kun accident photos, the area seems to be quiet (no traffic and dry), so how tf did the cab driver lose control? 😕 Must be a Chelsea fan or Kun non-owner 😀

On a serious note, City have one striker now til beginning of december, selling Nacho doesn't look so clever now

A significant portion would have got both Aguero and Kane though. A move to Jesus, Morata or Lacazette from there is very easy.

on a same boat with you
Kaku against Palace is tempting, but he played 90min in UCL.
Kane didn't play full, he should be fresher than Kaku, but Huddersfield defense is something, 4 out of 6 clean sheet.

Kun will be out for some time, while City have great fixtures - after GW7 and the int break.

This week Laca has an easy fixture and he was rested last night. Longer term Morata and Jesus ought to be prolific.

I'll be getting Jesus in after the Chelsea game, but I'm gonna have to sacrifice either Kaku or Kane to have a front line of Morata/Jesus and Kaku/Kane.

Something like that. I'm even toying with a post-GW7 WC option of Morata/Jesus/Laca in order to get a midfield of Haz/Sterling/Salah!

      Of course unless Sturridge does.

Incidentally, VVD has named Sturridge as the most difficult striker he has played against, along with Aguero.

    Laca or Morata?
Both seem to be in form and fixtures are favourable. Laca can enjoy immediate returns facing BRI though.

Does the Aguero news remotely help B. Silva's case? When is he ever getting a run. Meanwhile, Sané now looks very interesting.

Sane could end up covering Mendy at wingback. Could be Bilva's day, but more likely Sterling will get proper gametime. you never know with Pep.

This is definitely the worst year I can remember for injuries - so far have had Kompany, Zaha, RLC, Pogba, Chalobah, Jones, Kun - 7 in 7 weeks!

Tbf Kompany, Jones and Aguero are all injury prone. You already knew the risk of having them. That's why I didn't bring in Kompany and Jones.

That's a bit rough on Aguero. A car accident is different than a playing injury.

He was involved in a car accident, it could've happen to anyone, glad that he survived it and hope he gets back on the pitch soon!
