The ScoutCast – Episode 235 – Swingers

Careering out of the international break at speed, the ScoutCast returns in anticipation of a turning point in our seasons.

We’ve been chattering for several weeks on the much anticipated “fixture swing”, and now we’re all set to put ourselves at its mercy.

What does it mean for our Fantasy line-ups?

In truth, with multiple transfers and Wildcards at our disposal, Jonty, Andy, Luke and myself started this latest episode still seeking our own answers. Over almost 90 minutes and with your community questions providing the steer, we do our best to reach some conclusions.

We weigh up Manchester United exit plans, Liverpool’s blunted attack and Jamie Vardy’s recuperation techniques, before previewing Gameweek 8 in the usual hap-hazard style.

This ScoutCast was first beamed live via our YouTube channel on Tuesday night. Be sure to subscribe to get notice of future live episodes.

If you’re a traditional type, you can acquire the mp3 audio version via this link on the first player below, or take in the full visual experience via the second player below.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

I was all set to hold Morata until further news, but with him dropping, and Jesus rising, I'm going to be 0.1 short. Hmm!

Anyone else with the same predicament? And if so what are you doing?

Little word of warning regarding Aguero. I can think of at least two occasions in recent seasons where he's declared himself fit on Twitter and then not started. Best to wait for the presser.

    I still got Chicharito in my team because of other more pressing issues. Will he start this GW?? I read the following on WHU site;

The boss said: “We are still waiting for Chicharito who is going to come back [to England] today. He wasn’t with us for a couple of weeks because of the Mexico games and all that so he will be back in training tomorrow. We have to bear in mind that Chicharito didn’t train with us and today is Thursday and we play an away game on Saturday and tomorrow we’ll be travelling he’ll only be in training on Friday, so we’re going to see. The good thing is he played the first game and scored for Mexico, which is always important for the strikers, and he’s going to train with us tomorrow. Then we’re going to decide what we’re going to do on Saturday, but I’m expecting him to be in the squad.”

Gonna have to shoehorn in Kane instead of Morata.

    Salah or De Bruyne out?

I do have Jesus as City coverage and none from Pool.
Probably gonna get Sterling as my second substitution so that would make it 3 city players if I keep KDB.... help me out

    Settled on this wildcard team.

    Fabianski
    Luiz Bavies VVD Ward
    Coutinho Sterling Silva
    Kane Jesus Vardy
    (Elliot Wimmer TC RLC)
    0.3 ITB

    Long term plan is:

    Sterling/Silva ➡️ Richarlison
    Jesus ➡️ Morata
    Bavies ➡️ Jones
    Vardy ➡️ Lukaku

    Appreciate your thoughts! 🙂

On WC as well and have Jesus + Silva. At least one of them is nailed but with Sterling you should spend at least one transfer in couple of weeks.

      6 years, 6 months ago

Think it through, make an assessment, act on your assessment. Same as always. 🙂

Presumably you have Jesus at 10.4m though so I wouldn't do anything with him till he has his 2nd rise. Which should probably be tonight or tomorrow.

Everyone has their own take on Aguero but the experts I have spoken to doubt that Aguero can be ready, not if he had a broken rib (which is what was announced). Maybe he is available to start GW9, maybe GW10. But Aguero starting doesn't mean Jesus benched. I don't think Jesus became a bad pick now; maybe just a less exceptionally good one.

What if Kun wasn't injured at all? What if it was all a ploy because he was afraid of playing for Argentina and facing the consequences in case they failed to qualify for the World Cup? What if he has been fit all along?

    1. Sánchez
      • 11 Years

If he had played and they didn't win, he would have been slaughtered. If he didn't play and they didn't win, no one could point the finger at him because he wasn't to blame. These Kun being fit for Stoke rumours only started after Argentina had qualified.

Oh no! This Jesus benched thing has been going on since GW1. You always know there's a possibility each one gets rotated (jesus & kun). That being said, their fixtures are too good and their form is too hot to not consider one or the other. Jesus is still a good pick and I believe he will start this weekend and most of the upcoming games.

New WC plan with Kun's possible earlier return...keep 1.2 ITB for a possible Jesus > Kun next week? Don't see him Pep playing him this week no matter if he has made a miraculous recovery, he will err on the side of caution, so Jesus i would say is fine for this GW minimum.

    Back line was :

Bavies, Stones, Maguire, Cedric (Ward) but is still almost as strong going with :

Bavies, Maguire, Cedric, Ward (Wimmer) +1.2 ITB...wasn't looking forward to benching Ward this week anyway and could quite possibly outscore Stones anyway? Sound like a plan?

Pretty basic. But you have good subs. 8/10

Ta! Yeh covers a lot of basics but lets me get Aguero or Lukaku if I need to.

If that's a 4-3-3 hybrid you don't need both Richarlison and C-Moting, one can be a 4.5. If it's a 3-4-3 the balance is OK but the defence needs some work I think.

Get Cedric out for a start. There's a good chance he falls before the deadline. Bring him in on Saturday if you want him.

I'd get Davies out too, his days are numbered. Unless you are happy spending a FT soon to remove him. But Spurs' GW9 & 10 fixtures are nothing to write home about anyway.

I think Walker is the only nailed City defender. With Otamendi you are relying on Kompany breaking down again, otherwise you'll get some inconvenient benchings. So I'd get Otamendi out too.

What's the 1.5m for by the way? I'm guessing it's for a subsequent Jesus >> Lukaku but that's not for 4 weeks. You could start with Hazard instead of Coutinho and switch across in GW10.

      Those are some thoughts anyway.
