Dugout Discussion – Brighton vs Everton

After tucking into Saturday’s huge goal-pie helping supplied by Manchester City, we can’t help but think that today will arrive as an anti-climax. More “Sedate Sunday” than “Super”.

But Brighton and Everton may surprise us – certainly both sides are in need of a victory to pep up their seasons.

From a Fantasy perspective, the pickings are slim.

Pascal Gross is unquestionably the most interesting asset on show, having picked up over 109,000 new owners ahead of today’s clash and a favourable spread of fixtures for the Seagulls. He starts today’s match as part of 14.1% or 740,000+ squads.

Thanks to Everton’s malaise that makes the German playmaker the most popular player on show.

Certainly, Wayne Rooney’s Fantasy stock has been in decline since Gameweek 2 – the last time he returned points via a goal at Manchester City. That strike and the Toffee’s performance that night seems a world away from the current form, with Ronald Koeman’s side and Rooney struggling for a foothold since.

They must surely avoid defeat following the reverse at home to Burnley in Gameweek 7, and with that in mind, today’s lunchtime encounter looks destined for few goals and little incident. We shall see.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Oh wait, there was one moment to note.
Ball came to Dunk corner of the penalty area, shot towards goal and McGuire flung himself at it bravely.
Penalty appeal for handball turned down...

Everton have had one shot on target out of 8 shots in the whole half.

        "'Frustrated Koeman'

        Brighton 0-0 Everton

        Chris Wise

        BBC Radio 5 live

The Amex is certainly quieter than normal, but that's a reflection of a rather poor game.

Everton manager Ronald Koeman is visibly becoming more frustrated. He's very animated in his technical area with most of his angst aimed towards a so-far patient fourth official."

      Brighton 0-0 Everton

      Chris Wise

      BBC Radio 5 live

Rooney and Baines were deep in conversation on the way back out of the tunnel at the Amex.

No changes from either side but you feel one won't be far away if the second half starts in a similar fashion to the first 45 minutes.

      46 mins:
Solly March puts the burners on down the Brighton left to skin Mason Holgate and put in a low cross but it's cleared smartly by Phil Jagielka, who hasn't put a foot wrong on his return to the side so far.

Brady to RLC and then Francis to Ota/Stones. You could later do Lukaku to Aguero or Morata. ChoMo and Mee rotate brilliantly.

I also brought Sterling in for Silva to afford Jesus, so Aguero returning renders both a risk. I feel like one must go but the City double up is so lucrative when the hammer teams. Wish I could have a guarantee they'd be safe every week

I don't really see the logic in taking him out now for a player who wasn't even on the bench this week.
City just spanked Stoke for 7 and Chelsea lost to an awful Palace team.

I really want Morata in too but would wait till he's proven fitness for a game and Chelsea look back to how they did a few weeks back. Will be tempted to put him in for Lukaku after Huddersfield if Morata starts GW 9.
