Dugout Discussion – Thursday

The curtain comes down on the second of four quick-fire festive Gameweeks this evening as Crystal Palace welcome Arsenal to Selhurst Park.

Up against the only side yet to keep a clean sheet in front of their own fans, the Gunners’ Alexandre Lacazette is the tenth top captain pick for Gameweek 20, handed the armband by 2.1% of Fantasy Premier League managers.

Having found the net in each of the last two, Mesut Ozil is the visitors’ form player, though Alexis Sanchez was back on the scoresheet against Liverpool last time out.

Both are owned by just 2% and could prove big differentials this evening.

Tonight’s teamsheet brings good news for the 11% still holding Sead Kolasinac, as he returns to the starting XI for the first time in four Gameweeks as the visitors revert to a wing-back set-up

The hosts, meanwhile, welcome back Christian Benteke from suspension. He bagged a goal and assist in his previous league appearance away to Swansea to hint at a return to form, though it’s Wilfried Zaha who has been the Eagles’ most impressive attacker of late.

Stationed up top in a front two, he has scored or assisted in five of his six home matches since returning from injury.

That output has been key to a run that’s seen Palace score two goals in each of the last six at Selhurst Park and could prove pivotal against an Arsenal rearguard with just two clean sheets in six on the road.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

This week team. Correct captain and bench?

    Pickford
    Alonso - Otamendi - Robertson - Jones
    Salah - Sterling - Lingard - Hazard
    Firmino - (M)orata

All year I feel I have made the right choices and they have gone south. The 48 points in hits I can live with as when working it out I would be far worse off if I had not made them. Since GW15 I have moved steadily up from 580k to 96k but so have my rivals who keep a solid lead over me. I need a differential over all differentials if I am to have any success. Any ideas?

I would say if you have Kane then overlook the Spurs mids and instead go for a Extra City midfielder. The next 5 are very tempting

Do not pick differentials for the sake of a differential. As a matter of probability, differentials usually cause you to slide further down the rankings. Pick the best team and you will slowly gain ground - 2 or 3 very well thought out differentials (e.g. Alonso over the last 4 weeks for me) over the course of a season is all that is needed.

Not easy I know. The likes of Sanchez could be good but would mess my team up as it is.
I was thinking Erik and Vert as DGW is arriving with good fixtures thereafter. I have a good TV which can help over my rivals. Probably yhe difference between Sanchez and Hazard.

Eriksen is interesting...I've had him from the start.

For me he is tottenhams de Bruyne, extremely consistent at scoring between 6-10 points via 1 assist or 1 goal.

Consistency of eriksen vs explosiveness of allí or son I guess. Also he is less prone to rotation (lamelas back)

I could have massive egg on my face this GW after doing Morata > Firmino. I also have Alonso and Hazard, needed to hop on Firmino as my ML rivals have been killing it with him, i’ve been lucky to still be in 2nd place.

Yeah very true, soon as i did it i kind of regretted it, but i desperately wanted Alonso, and keeping Hazard for this one latt game before switching to a Spurs mid.
Really hope Firmino will start, hopefully he will as Leicester are gonna be attacking just like liverpool will, Klopp may want to start his stars and get that win early on.

look I think the sensible thing to do is look at it this way...

captaining Salah you cant go far wrong because of ownwership and likely captaincy.

captaining Hazard risks a blank causing a massive red arrow..

Haha yeah! It’s exactly this conundrum, i’m 2nd in my ML and it’s sooooo tight between the too 5 of us. A Haz special would devastate them, it’s gonna be a ‘play it safe’ from me i think and give Salah the armband.

ye I kinda knew you would say that.... it looks like an obvious Hazard pick its just Salahs ownership globally and in my mini league that has me worried not to captain him... is owning Hazard enough of a differential ?

I'm chasing in my ML so I will captain Hazard and hope for a Salah blank. Your situation might be different tho. Salah for safety, Hazard for differential.

A tfr worth +-4 pts. Is the one week player going to outperform the the Likes of Erik who is one straight tfr next week in a DGW and good fixture thereafter.

IE: Kane Morata back to Morata Kane. Say 8 points or Erik and Lanzini for free next week?

Christensen is more certain than Jones.
More worried about RLC getting a rest.
It's more about the upside over the 2 FT's(8 points value)

RLC probable 2 point anyway. Morata or his like will probably earn more.

        What about Hazard TM?
Worth captaining him as ChelseA have good record vs Stoke?
Or even Morata who scored HATRICK in last match vs stoke

1 goal and he probably gets bonus but with Arsenal next, an early shower is on the cards.

For the DGW + aftermath which combo would u choose from these~

    Courtois + Richarlison making way-
    1. Lloris + Arnie
    2. Lloris + Lanzini
    3. Adrian + Son

Speroni/ Elliot will be the other GK.
    Have Ogbonna and Kane already.
    Effects my tranfser this GW.

Adrian only if you have Pope. (Rotation)
Son may only play 1 game.
Arnie and Lanzini probably both games.

This weeks team, 1 FT to burn...

    Elliot
    Alonso - Otamendi - Kabasele - Mee
    Sterling - Salah (c) - Coutinho - Hazard (vc)
    Abraham - DCL

    Adrian - Kane - RLC - Wimmer

2FT and 0 in the bank so will save 2 for next week...
is Abraham --> Depoitre the move for GW 21??

For all the mavericks out there (like myself) considering Hazard captain , Mo Salah is not only owned by 60 percent of fpl teams , he has just blanked( no goal or assist) in one out of the last 12 gws..that is unreal consistency imo and is putting me off haza captain

I think it comes down to this:

If you have a high rank then captain Salah and simply owning Hazard is a good differential.

If you have a poor rank then this is a great week to take a calculated risk on Hazard.

    Guys,
    Some suggestions for this week?

    Eliott
    Jones Christensen Otamendi
    Salah Sterling Hazard Richarlison RLC
    Quaner Firmino
    Fabianski Duffy Hunemier Kane

    1FT 3.6 ITB

In the long run want Alonso but short term looking for DGW players. So what should I be doing?

    A) Roll FT over and do 2/3 transfers next week (Haz, RLC, Rich --> Son, Alli, Arnie)
    B) Christensen --> Alonso and 2 transfers next week (Haz and RLC/Rich --> Alli and Son/Arnie)
    C) Any other suggestions

    Otamendi Christensen Jones
    Salah Sterling Richarlison Hazard Lingard

    What to do here??

    Thanks

Is Sane a secure starter now?
    (cry WAT,liv,WB,NEW)

Rested last week... Should be starting the next two with a gap of 3 days.
Also with fixtures spaced nicely after the International Break can we consider him as a regular starter? Like how he used to be before December?

      No he's not...
So in dm we have Fernandinho pretty much certain
Then there are two spots shared by de bruyne, d.silva and gundogan
The remaining three spots are shared between sterling sane Jesus Bernardo.silva Agüero...all five are fit atm so highest risk of rotation
