Sky Sports Focus

Friday lunchtime has us turn to the Sky Sports game and our article that looks back at the midweek action, while preparing you for the forthcoming round of fixtures.

We’ll examine the recent run of Man of the Match (MoTM) awards, the bonus point beneficiaries, transfer trends and Watchlist, before moving on to our Scout line-up and future plans.

Gameweek 25 Man of the Match Awards

These were the players who caught the eye of the Sky Sports reporters and earned an extra five points as a result.

FixtureMoTM
Chelsea vs BournemouthCallum Wilson
Tottenham Hotspur vs Man UnitedChristian Eriksen
West Ham vs Crystal PalaceJoao Mario
Newcastle vs BurnleyKenedy
Everton vs LeicesterTheo Walcott
Huddersfield vs LiverpoolEmre Can
Stoke vs WatfordGerard Deulofeu
Man City vs West BromKevin De Bruyne
Southampton vs BrightonSofiane Boufal
Swansea vs ArsenalSam Clucas

A number of debutants caught the eye of the Sky reporters, which was a recurring theme earlier in the season.

On top of that, midfielders reigned supreme once again, claiming nine out of the possible ten accolades.

Former Fantasy favourite Theo Walcott certainly requires our attention ahead of the overhaul, after a brace along with tackle and shots on target bonus earned him a monster 23-point haul.

A final mention has to go to the consistent force that is Kevin De Bruyne, who bumped his MoTM tally up to nine for the season.

Gameweek 25 Bonus Points

Let’s take a look at any player to earn 37 points or more in bonus for the season

Here I aim to highlight a few differential players with low ownership who I believe can prove an effective source of points up to the Overhaul in three weeks time (Gameweek 28)

Three specific price brackets will be used to cater for our available budgets.

Notes

Another slight drop in rank for me, but I remain within touching distance of the top 100.

In truth, I invited my own problems as I swapped the armband from Kevin De Bruyne to David Silva in order to seek out a differential.

I’m fully aware the Belgian is the better pick, but with Gameweeks running out I felt compelled to look for an edge.

I thought Silva would get a lot of the ball against a deep-lying West Brom. And, as Man City’s captain for the night, I felt that this would be a strong match for the playmaker.

Sadly, he picked up a booking and was withdrawn injured and, to top it off, De Bruyne hauled in 18 points. No doubt at the end of the season I’ll look back on this as a fairly major error of judgement.

As mentioned last week, I’m counting down the days until overhaul so I can ship the now-redundant Jonjoe Kenny and Fantasy’s most unfortunate player, Andreas Christensen.

I don’t think I can justify using any more swaps on defenders before that point.

David Silva could be a different story, but I’ll wait for the injury news on him. If he’s out for both matches, I may well opt for one final swap. Walcott will doubtless be the target.

Captain Plan

Sat 3rd – De Bruyne (bur)
Sun 4th – Salah (TOT)
Mon 5th – Hazard (wat)

I know that FH chip for blank gameweeks has been discussed a lot till now, and most probably I am going to use it for BGW 35, for a better use of other chips.
But still thinking: If BGW31 has less games than BGW35, then isn't it more effective to use it for BGW31?
More games in BGW35 means most of rivals will have more players in their teams (maybe even full 11 for just a -4 or -8) compared to BGW31, and it will be hard to make difference with FH chip..
Your thoughts would be interesting on this.

It kinda looks impossible to decide at the moment until FA Cup moves on. Bound to be one or two results that defy logic.

Depends how confident you are of navigating DGW34, blank GW35, DGW37 without a FH chip - either strategies could work.

        Hi Jarv,
I am going to go with third option: transfer ahead till gw31, WC on 32/33, BB 34, FH 35, TC 37, think that is the best option.

The teams playing in 31 right now arguable have a good run of fixtures till then (Pool, Stoke & Everton). So if you start getting players from now you might able to field 8-11 players by then for -4 or -8.

GW35 might have bigger teams blanking.

Big teams blanking is a good point actually. That is where FH can make a real difference, while others will not want to drop big players.

Is this worth wildcarding too? (current team is basically the template everyone has...)

    Courtois, 3.9
    Jones, Smalling, Mawson, Daniels, Chilwell
    Sanchez, Salah, Sterling, Shaqiri, Milivo,
    Kane, Vardy, Wilson

I'm behind in my ML, but should I wait for the DGWs to use the WC?

Thinking about wild-carding to this lot - any comments??

    Pickford/Fab
    Daniels / Alonso / Mee / Maguire / Lascelles
    Salah / Shaq / Mahrez / Walcott / Sterling
    Giroud / Aubama / Wilson

I've been holding Kane and Aguero FOREVER and a change just kind of sounds fun (but could be madness, of course). Thoughts appreciated, thanks!

Martial if you don't have Lingard. I'm going Walcott.

Ah. Mili and save cash perhaps, or get Ayew over Wilson. Even a Bournemouth mid.

Worth taking a -4 to get Mahrez out for Pogba? Shaqiri would come in for Mahrez...

Surely you bought Shaqiri to play him?

Dingo is right - but I took a hit to do Mahrez and Quaner to Wilson and Wally, so I understand your desire to get rid.
I wouldn't want a man Utd attacker urgently myself - but he's the best value/nailed option.
