Scout Notes

Scout Notes – Kane Leaves It Late

Harry Kane’s 88th-minute goal hands Spurs a win and 1.2 million Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers a respectable outcome for their decision to hand him the Gameweek 28 armband.

Only Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah (1.6m) was captained by more than the Tottenham striker as the pair’s Golden Boot duel goes on, with Kane one goal ahead on 24.

Yet in the FPL head-to-head, Salah has now outscored Kane in each of the last four Gameweeks, bettering him by 46 points to 18 in that period.

And looking at that personal battle across the season, the Egyptian again prevails by 16 Gameweeks to 11, with one draw.

Both players ended Gameweek 28 without any bonus points, however.

Kane was profligate in the 1-0 win at Crystal Palace, missing two big chances and firing four of his six shots off target.

He has now scored a single goal in each of his last three matches, only to miss out on bonus points every time.

Then again, on another day Kane might have had at least one chance to score more from the penalty spot, with what looked like a clear foul on Ben Davies by Palace keeper Wayne Hennessey going unpunished.

A six-point haul was just about enough for the 158,000+ managers who made him the third most signed player of Gameweek 28, and his winner again underlined his peerless record on the road – Kane now has 13 goals, and six from his last four starts, away from home.

Handed a place in our Scout Picks, Christian Eriksen provided the assist – his first since Gameweek 22 – from a corner to reward the 112,000+ who bought him in following his star turn, and goal, at Juventus in the Champions League.

The Dane strengthened his claim as the go-to option in Tottenham’s midfield. He fired five efforts on goal today and has now created 14 chances for team-mates in the last four Gameweeks – only Eden Hazard (15) has more.

But the 11.9% who own Son Heung-min had to make do with a 10-minute substitute appearance from their man.

The South Korean had started 13 successive league matches before today, but the intense competition for the third attacking midfielder spot means that he no longer looks a secure pick.

Erik Lamela got the nod at Selhurst Park, while new signing Lucas Moura again caught the eye when introduced from the bench.

Lamela was also preferred to Son in the recent trip to Juventus, meaning the latter’s only start in the last three matches was at Rochdale in the FA Cup.

Son had failed to score in the previous four Gameweeks and today’s sub role may well be the final straw for his 11.9% owners – he is already the fourth most sold player in FPL over the last 24 hours.

Furthermore, should Spurs win their midweek replay with Rochdale, their home match with Newcastle will be taken out of Gameweek 31.

Backline to the fore

Gameweek 28’s most popular purchase was Ben Davies, who was acquired by 293,000+ managers ahead of yesterday’s deadline.

Spurs’ 13th clean sheet of the season and a single bonus point brought in a good haul for the Welshman, who has now started eight successive league matches.

Fellow defender Davinson Sanchez picked up two bonus points, while Palace’s James Tomkins – who claimed a clean sheet having been withdrawn before Kane’s goal – was awarded the maximum.

An ankle injury meant Jan Vertonghen failed to start in the league for the first time this season and Toby Alderweireld also missed out with a minor hamstring complaint.

Mauricio Pochettino’s line-up for Gameweek 29’s visit from Huddersfield this Saturday might well involve other, less enforced, changes as it falls just four days before the second leg of their Champions League tie with Juventus.

Spurs face Rochdale in the FA Cup this Wednesday, so presumably the likes of Kieran Trippier and Danny Rose, who were rested today, will get the nod there.

Serge Aurier is suspended for the Juventus match and looks highly likely to feature against Huddersfield as a result.

However, on the left, the situation is a little cloudier. Should Pochettino look to start Davies against Juventus, there’s a chance that Rose could come in against the Terriers and earn a first start since Gameweek 20.

More pain for Palace

Roy Hodgson now has an injury list long enough to create an entire team, which forced him to hand 20-year-old Aaron Wan-Bissaka a debut at right-back.

By the time the match was done, the Palace boss had even more issues.

Tomkins was withdrawn with what appeared to be another knock and could now be a doubt for the Gameweek 29 visit from Man United.

Loan signing Timothy Fosu-Mensah will already miss that match as he is ineligible to play against his parent club, leaving Hodgson clinging to the hope that Mamadou Sakho will be back from the calf injury that has kept him out for the last two Gameweeks.

If not, then a United attack that rediscovered some form against Chelsea today could well profit from the makeshift defence they’ll face next Monday evening.

Chelsea themselves then entertain the Eagles in Gameweek 30, while a home match with Hodgson’s men in a reduced Gameweek 31 could be good news for Huddersfield’s Fantasy prospects.

Spurs fan - I don’t think we will field massively weakened team. And if not starting big players like Kane they’ll be on the bench to come on if needed. We taking FA cup seriously as desperate to win something, fairly confident we’ll beat Rochdale

Jones to which GW31 defender? 1FT. My defense is

    Pickford Pereira
    VVD Mariappa Jones* Otamendi Tarkowski

I already have 3 Liverpool so Robertson not an option

Not sure whether to do it now before he drops again or wait a week

How's it looking? Planning to save this week, then Crouch to Mounie next, then before 31, Smalling and Duffy to Schnidler and Francis (or Bauer/Martina). (WC 32/33)

I don't see the point in the Duffy and Francis type players.
I would save 2 FT for 31 and get Shaquri and or Milo types.

If WC soon after why not. Be careful with TV value loss I suppose.

    Adrain
    Alonso VVd mee
    Sterling Salah son lingard
    Wilson aguero Kane
Woodman ibe chilwell Fernandez 1ft 0 itb

Need to use all ft’s to get 7 out for gw 31 ( maybe a -4 for 8 playing)

Plan is to move aguero to firminio this week.
Then later make son to siggy/ Walcott and lingard to shaqui.

Is Sterling to Eriksen the no brainer move with 1 Ft or should I go for a player with a game in 31, will not be playing FH in 31.

Think Eriksen is the move but it is annoying losing so much TV on someone I will probably want back in 34/35 but if i don't sell I lose SV anyway. Thanks

Is losing a player that had gained 1 mil a few weeks before a WC stupid or if beginning to lose SV anyway just cash in. I really don't know.

Yeah. But if I want Sterling back for Swa home and Spurs away in 34 he needs to drop by .5 between now and then or it costs me more to buy him back.

If it costs you 0.2/0.3m is that the end of the world?
If he does little in GW28-30 then you are ahead.

Agreed that is decision made. Points that Erik should outscore Sterling over next few weeks is worth .2 or .3
But obsession with SV continues. Which means I will probably do this early before Spurs game to avoid Sterling drop 🙂

The thing is that it is really SV that matters and not TV. A Sterling drop mean an SV drop for me - so that is leaning me towards Sterling to Eriksen, especially with injury and fixtures factored in.

always a risk getting rid of a player you loose value on but as TM says is it the end of the world if you loose 0.2? And will sterling be nailed when City wraps up the title which could happen before 34? And could Sané or Silva be as good as options then? Mahrez on a mission and Eriksen totally nailed and never injured, also provides alternatives. And if he fails to start vs Arsenal his value will plummet anyway. That was my logic behind my transfer prior to G28, could backfire of course-)

Actually it's my first season at FPL(I started last season late) and I've been very patient with transfers and nothing is being paid off. I get one green arrow, then 3-4 reds. It's going like this and I've not been into top 100k(currently at 140k)

So thinking to pull the WC trigger even though I have two FTs

    DDG, Elliot
    VVD, Mee, Daniels, Duffy, Zanka
    Hazard, Alli, Salah, Sterling, Choupo
    Kane, Wilson, Quaner

Firmino has hurt me too much and I'll get him on my WC. I'm not going to play safe now and be dynamic with transfers. Any suggestions?

Alli's head has been gone all season. Apart from that it's a decent team. Have you been captaining Salah?

Salah, Kane and Hazard at times. Lucky to get his all hauls

Don't think you need to WC mate. Though not knowing how much you have in the bank maybe have a look at downgrading either Alli or Sterling (injury permitted) and upgrading to Firmino (you could always get Wilson back in for Kane if Kane blanks 31 and then WC 32)

He seems a real tidy little differential, looked dangerous everytime he got the ball & plays in 31

    Good Morning
    Son replacements please.. 8m max
Should I go for a GW 31 player? I currently have 5 GW 31 players including Kenny. Or should I be looking at Ramsey/Mkhi for the 2 good fixtures coming up?
    Thanks

I'm in two minds over Walcott as an owner. I watched him get in some good positions but his team mates are oblivious to picking him out

I might give him one more week to impress me, get pritch in a roll a transfer

I think there's no decent supply coming from the left for Wally. Siggy should be in 10 not out there and Martina isn't exactly Baines when whipping crosses in for Walcott at opposite post

    A) How is this defence for WC
    Fabianski/Hennessy
    Robertson/ward/toby/simpson/mariappa
Want to go light on defence to have full blown fwd & miss

    B) on WC who would you prefer
    Sterling+8.4mid or KDB + 6.6mid ???
Asking as not getting any good 8.4 mid, mkhi, son, sane are options but some or other reasons no one looking a bang on player to get

Toby isn't featuring. Vertonghen, Dier and Sanchez been playing there recently.

      KDB and Shaqiri/Willian find 0.2?

    Foster
    Fernamdez, Alonso, Mee.
    Hazard, Salah, Mahrez, Walcott.
    Wilson, Firmino, Kane.
    Elliot, Milivojevic, Daniels, Ogbonna.
    1ft, 0.7m

    Thoughts on these options

    A) Ogbonna > Robertson
    B) Hazard > Eriksen
    C) Hazard > Mane
    D) Foster > Karius

    Hi All,

Any ideas on how to ready this team for GW31? Will be WC in 32 or 33 btw so not too fussed about that team i put out in 31

    Pope
    Alonso, VVD, Robertson
    Shaq, Walcott, Salah, Sterling
    Kane, Aguero, Wilson

    (Adrian, Chilwell, Long, T. Carroll)
    1FT - 0.7m

Struggling to get rid of Aguero after his form, but will probably make the move to Bobby before 31. Which means that either robertson/VVD will need to be transferred out. Looking at Bauer/Daniels/Hegazi. Maybe Adrian to Foster??

You've got yourself in a bit of a pickle in double Liverpool defence. I think Aguero to Firmino is a must for you. I'd punt on Dawson. I'm a Daniels owner and it doesn't look too bright for him. He was OOP too often defensively and Smith got a goal

flip a coin over who to get shot of. Or VVD if you need funds

          Cheers Mikess,

I brought in VVD this GW for Otamendi, so woulnd't be bothered to transfer him out if push came to shove. Dawson is a good shout, thanks for that.

Will definetly do the Aguero to Firmino before 31 just not sure when. Was waiting for Jesus to come back, he only played around 10 monutes last night so might be ready soon

Huddesfield have decent fixture in 30/31 so Zanka/Schindler could be an option

Van La Parra an alternative to Mili and Pritchard, who is gaining popularity

They are playing Rochdale in the cup on Wednesday, if he starts that he is unlikely to start against Huddersfield
