The ScoutCast – Episode 255 – Wilder

Wildcards are very much active among the ScoutCast crew, and while only three of us make this latest episode, all five are in play ahead of the Double Gameweeks.

Not surprisingly, our rebuilding programme dominates the discussion as Jonty and Andy join me to reveal our current squads and our chosen strategy leading into the remaining seven Gameweeks.

In an exhaustive and in-depth episode, the three of us also look back on the success of the Free Hit in Gameweek 31. Then we attempt to offer a balanced view on the variety of chip tactics from this point on, with a team-by-team analysis of the player targets to consider.

We fail miserably of course, with our own bias no doubt shining through, though the conclusion is an uplifting one: whatever your chosen route with the chips to Gameweek 38, we will all win out in the end.

Unless you don’t have your Wildcard and Free Hit, in which case you’re now consigned to spending the next two months behind the sofa and hate us all anyway.

This ScoutCast was first beamed live via our YouTube channel on Tuesday evening. Be sure to subscribe to get notice of future live episodes.

If you’re a traditional type, you can acquire the mp3 audio version via this link on the first player below, or take in the full visual experience via the second player below.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Going Murray / Gudmunsson over Barnes / Gross isn't the end of the world right?

It would mean an extra 0.3m ITB which is the difference between double Burnley DF for the DGW 34 and bringing in Christiansen for Ben Mee and having 2 Chelsea DF's.

1FT 10.1m ITB. What transfer(s) should I have in mind for this week?

    Lossl (Elliot)
    Vertonghen VVD Schindler (Bauer Mbemba)
    Salah Mahrez Stanislas Richarlison (Shaqiri)

You could have Auba up to the DGW and then switch to Kane

possibly, but how about doing to Hokey Cokey:
gw 32-33 auba - STO SOT
      gw34 kane - MCI/bha
      gw 34 auba - WHU

if you can do that for free it’s worth thinking about
I don’t think it’s a terrible idea to hold auba until the end of the season as long as his form matches the fixtures

    Why go Tark over Lowton?

Baily - looks like he's played about 20min this season, why would you pay out the extra over Smalling?

Because of that I can't see how he wouldn't be a possible rotation risk himself. I also doubt he comes back without picking up another issue.... Like most returns do.

I'll downgrade Gross to get Kane/Lukaku before 34. I don't think Gross has great fixtures in 34 anyway.

I won't be playing Austin until 34 so it's a bit of a punt but he should be back by then and it could pay off.

    @hotdogs

Who are your alternatives for Son, Willian and Barnes?

You are right with all three being rotation risks in 34 but who are the alternatives considering budget and dare I say it, ‘cover’.

Just had a little look: Alli over Son if you can stretch .7, not sure on Willian replacement in that price bracket.

For Barnes, Murray maybe, but he’s a risk also

I am WCing in 36 so not thinking about it much, but DDG, Eriksen, Hazard & Alonso would be my ‘go to’ Utd, Chelsea and Spurs players I would want with 2x2 doubles guaranteed and build my team around that.

Need to box clever to make it work but not seen many try it with a RMT post ?

You’re right with RMTs, just genuinely interested in your approach. Makes sense now if you’re WCing in 36

I’ve committed to B.B. in 34 so see then options as minimal. Risky though with rotation

    DDG (Ryan)

    Mahrez Salah Willian Gros Son

Very similar to me me with exception of:

      Mustafi instead of Duffy

      Auba Vardy Murray up top

      with a view to:
Auba and Mustafi to Lukaku and Smalling/Jones in 34

Am also considering Lingard instead of Gros but that would effect Smalling purchase obvs.

      Have you considered Lingard?

    WC32 - BB34 - FH35 - TC37

Which WC team should I activate?

    WC1:

    DDG (Ryan)
    Alonso Bailly Mustafi (Lowton Morgan)
    Salah Mahrez Son Wilian (Gudmundsson)
    Aubameyang Vardy Barnes

    DGW34 & BB: Aubameyang + Mustafi -> Lukaku + Dunk

    WC2:

    DDG (McCarthy)
    Alonso Dunk Lowton (Tarkowski Chilwell)
    Salah Mahrez Son Willian Mkhitaryan
    Aubameyang Vardy Barnes

    DGW34 & BB: Aubameyang + Mkhitaryan -> Lukaku + Gudmundsson

Anyone now looking to keep Lukaku on WC now after original plan of getting him in GW34? Could be 11.7m by then

Hopefully he’s quiet this weekend and the City fixture slow his transfers down

1 goal this weekend though could force panic buying thinking that he'll rise before city. Dangerous to not get now unless you have a good .3m safety gap

After deadline this week, doubt there will be many transfers in for City away.

    My WC currently:
    De Gea - Ryan
    Smalling - Monreal - Christensen - Lowton - Chilwell
    Mahrez - Son - Salah - Willian - Kenedy
    Auba - Lukaku - Barnes

No free hit to play so looking over the 2 DGWs.
Auba out for Vardy for the first DGW.
    £1m ITB.

    Thoughts?
Also, Wood instead of Barnes maybe??
