Monitor – Dele Alli

In a season that has thrown up a number of surprises, some solace can be taken in the predictable. After dominating the midfield scoring charts in 2016/17, with Christian Eriksen, Dele Alli and Son Heung-min all among the top ten scoring midfielders in Fantasy Premier League (FPL), Spurs’ dynamic trio are at it again.

All three once more sit near the summit of the positional scoring charts, ranking fifth, sixth and seventh in the midfield rankings. Amazingly, after 32 Gameweeks, there are just nine points between them, highlighting the fine margins that have separated these players throughout the current campaign.

In recent weeks, however, it has been Alli who has come to the fore – staking a claim to significant Fantasy interest ahead of a pair of Double Gameweeks to close out the year.

Is Alli’s recent form enough to earn him favour over Spurs’ other midfield options – or will one of Son or Eriksen emerge as the superior asset during FPL’s final Gameweeks?

In our latest members’ Monitor article, we crunch the Opta data for an answer.

A few pet hates about articles using stats.

    1) Put them in context. Showing an improvement in stats is of little use if you have to decide allocation of funds. Show the stats of those being used as comparatives.
    2) xGI is an unwieldy statistic. It's a poor aggregate of assists and goals and try to pull on our hopes of getting something for our picks rather than getting most from them.
    3) I can't be the only one who thinks an xGI of less than 8 from 16 games is hardly encouraging for a premium midfielder.

    To summarise, why pick Alli.

The thought of Salahexit looks so appealing on WC:

    DDG
    Alonso Davies Morgan
    Erikson Mahrez Willian Mkihtarian Gross
    Kane Vardy

    Ryan Barnes Tarkowski Lowton

Already wild carded and am committed to bench boost in 34.
Now tempted by Salah> Alli , and leave Auba>Kane next week
    High risk?

    My team is :

    Pope
    VVD - Morgan - Dunk
    Albrighton - Son - Salah(vc) - Kenedy
    Auba(c) - Barnes - Kane

    Ryan - Gross - Lowton - Kelly

I have 4.5m itb and WC is active!
SV is poor so choosing wisely....
Should VVD be ditched?? Trying to decide what to do with Pope Albrighton and Son!

    A) Save, have 2 FTs for gw34 - can make Aub->Kane and Willian->Young(or other max 5m) for FREE.

    B) Use FT gw33 Salah->Alli. Gw34 spend -4 for Aub->Kane and Willian->Lingard.

I really want to do B, I'll have Alli who will play in gw33 and have two matches in gw34 and 37, which Salah doesn't. Also, Lingard better asset than Young or other 5m. Can get Salah in on 35 on the FH. Question is - is it worth -4 after all is said and done?

    A) Sanchez and below 5.5m mid
    B) Alli and Lingard

FH 35 and planning to keep until at least GW37. Also have Kane, no other Utd attacker

Would really appreciate input/advice on this:

For the remainder of the season:

    Alli, Eriksen or Son?

I will get Kane in GW34, and have no other spurs assets.

With Kane back I wonder how much game time Son will get? Appreciate the opinion of all, not least if from any spurs' fans.

    cheers
