Set-piece and penalty takers for final World Cup Fantasy matches

We are left with the same four teams for the final round of World Cup Fantasy matches, with two more fixtures making up Gameround 7.

That includes the third/fourth place play-off that Belgium and England will play in on Saturday.

So, for one last time, we’ve collated all the relevant set-piece data so Fantasy Football Scout members can work out which nations are the best to focus on for their transfers.

It still looks like England are the most likely to score from set-piece situations despite their exit from the tournament, while Croatia remain susceptible to balls into the box.

READ NEXT: Our transfer tips and stats for the final round of World Cup Fantasy matches

Our research includes the penalty and corner-takers for each country, based on who has taken them either in Russia or, in some cases, in qualification. If there is no number next to a player’s name it’s because they took at least one in qualifying and/or warm-up games but are yet to take one at the World Cup itself.

We’ve also calculated which teams concede the most fouls and attempts from set-plays too to help you work out which nations are the most likely to get set-pieces in the first place.

To clarify, the ‘Attempts from set plays’ section combines those who have shot from direct free-kicks or those who have latched onto the end of a corner.

The deadline for Gameround 7 is at 15:00 BST on Sarturday July 14, so make sure you sort your team in time.

World Cup Data

We’re delighted to offer World Cup data as an early addition to our regular season offering to help those playing Fantasy games over the summer.

We’ve secured Opta data, not only for the tournament itself, but also from the Qualifying Rounds for Europe and South America and for international friendlies involving the participating nations. This includes all the matches played right up to the tournament kick-off.

Just to stress, this World Cup offering comes packaged with the regular Fantasy Football Scout membership.

    RMT please!

    Ederson (Speroni)
    Robertson/Coleman/Douglas (Bednarek or Wan-Bissaka rotation)
    Salah/Sane/D.Silva/Cairney (Stephens)
    Auba/Firmino (Quaner)

Seems a bit unbalanced to me but I'm not sure where to change it up! I don't think Cairney will make a great 4th mid and Quaner is a glaring weakness too. Suggestions please?

By reading few threads here in FFScout, I have come up with 4 names:

    Bedanerek, Wan Bisakka, Schellotto, Peltier

May not be nailed, but surely the ones to be monitored?

    Sensible or blind optimism?

... or Kenedy (when he get's on the list)

And I'm either being brave or stupid by not having Salah - I reckon he'll be double-marked out of a lot of games - Firmino, and possibly Mane and Keita to benefit

I hate all that Burnley, personally. Others think they will benefit from EL. I guess you do too. I'd certainly bin Barnes.

I far prefer Tosun to Zaha. I dislike both the big 7m midfielder strikers. I want a striker up front.

Milner is one of my favourite players of all time for his attitude but he will play 50 per cent of matches at best now.

      Not a fan, overall, sorry.

Cheers, agree about Milner, not looking too far into the season, but first few GW's would expect him to have a run out, then move onto whichever 5.5 Mid shows form; same principle applies to Lennon with Gudmundsson expected to be out.

Struggling to find any decent options in the 6.0 forward bracket.

Dont know for sure but if memory serves HIS ownership was between 40-50%. I agree with you that pricing is «wrong» on the premise that to many slit him in «without» much doubt.

But another way of looking at it is if he’s wrongly priced because he looks set to be priced less than whats to be expected with regards to scoring points, which should be the Malin drivingpoint when it come to pricing. That is why i think they’ve got it right.

I also wholeheartedly believe euros plays a big part. With the lavk of KDB, RAS, Kane, Lykaku and Haz, the big money is bound to be put elsewhere.

GW4 has just finished, we have a 2 week international break. Liverpool's upcoming fixtures are tot, SOT, che, MCI.

What score from Salah would be the point where you would think about selling him? For me if he's not scored more than 2 goals in his first 4 GWs he'll probably be out, especially with Chelsea and City having plum fixtures that week (Cardiff and Fulham at home.) To be good value Salah needs to get returns at the level he was last season. A 20 goal season is maybe not good enough

Or will it be based more on performances by Salah and Liverpool ratehr than the actual points gained.

    1. DJDave1979

I'd be surprised if I kept him in a WC team unless he's pulling up trees. But I'd not be binning him I didn't feel the need to WC.

So I guess my answer is less based on Salah than on how my whole squad is shaping.

Will be an impact sub at most. Wonder how he handles it as he always seemed like a bit of a "Napoleon complex" person, for lack of a better description.

    Please rate/ advise changes:

    Ederson/ Boruc
    TAA/ Cedric/ Daniels/ Tomkins/ Bennett
    Salah/ Sanchez/ Mkhi/ Deulofeu/ Stephens
    Aguero/ Firmino/ Tosun

    Thanks a lot!

I worry about TAA's rotation, possibly more 'nailed' 5.0's but that defence in general is risky, 4 x 4.5's and a 4.0

In Salah and Sanchez you have 23.5m tied up in 2 players, almost 1/4 of your entire budget. I would look at downgrading Sanchez, Pogba is a better United option (when he returns) and means you can upgrade your defence. With the money tied up in Salah & Sanchez it means you will have to play 3-4-3 each week and rely on Deulofeu every GW.

Sanchez becomes De Bruyne and Aguero becomes Auba when the word cup fatigue is over.

TAA will hold his place I think. with those opening fixtures I think he is a chance worth taking.

      Similar to mine but:
      - No Arsenal for the first 2 gameweeks
      - Choosing a forward from Everton is tricky and I am somewhat expecting/hoping Niasse to get the most minutes - going for Siggy or Theo initially
      - DEF from Man Utd is likely to be a must
      - Burnley def can be a good choice with that opening schedule

Arsenal playing a heavily involved world cup team in first GW and an uncertain Chelsea in the second.
I agree with the Everton bit. Still contemplating. Might pick Zaha instead.
Which DEF from Man Utd is nailed?
        Worried about Burnley's Europa commitment

Fanni and Bush both play at the back for Montreal Impact. I think a team name change to Montreal Merkins is in order.

Tosun at the moment, but a long way to go before the season starts

Zaha for me but Tosun could do well with those fixtures.

    Which combo?

    A) Morata and Mane

    b) Hazard and Tosun

B, because it doesn't rely on Morata.

The problems we've been having with users needing to sign in for every new session should now be fixed.

If it continues happening, please email me: geoff@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk.

Another update: the Watchlist is now live! Along with the RMT tool, this will be updated often leading up to the season and throughout the season

The watchlist appears to be broken as Charlie Daniels is on there. Is it set up for 2016 instead of 2018 in error?

Daniels is a strange one this year. Lots of people like him and are going for him and lots hate him.

At 4.5m, I think he's pretty low risk. Bournemouth could struggle though

Also a reminder to vote for comments you find useful, and use the Sort By Rating filter. As pages are starting to move faster this is an increasingly good option, particularly if we all use our voting power.

The ability to set Sort By Rating is hopefully coming soon 🙂

We've had sort by rating for ages haven't we? I use it all the time, anyway.

          Yeah, that wasn't clear!

I meant set sort by rating as default - right now users have to change it every time they open an article

Cheers Geoff, let's hope it solves the login issue, I've been experiencing that quite a lot!

On another note, could you put links to the "Best budget defenders for 2018/2019"-etc. articles on the top of the Pre-season page? Would be very useful to have all those collected somewhere.

im liking the constant fixes. another problem i face on both pc and android phones is in the members preseason analysis of each team, the attacking and defending season comparing stat boxes (screenshot?) are too small to read. i have to zoom in to about 200% to read them before zooming out to read the rest of the article. not really a big deal but would be nice if sorted out.

It hurts me to say it but I'm going to go with Salah and Sanchez at the start next year, Sanchez should be nailed after no WC and might be up top if Lukaku is knackered

I’ve a feeling about Sanchez this season though. Might be good move tbh
