Best Leicester City players to sign on FPL in 2018/19 – Complete Members’ Analysis

The departure of Riyad Mahrez is the theme that runs throughout our latest detailed analysis for the new Fantasy Premier League season.

The Algerian leaves a big hole at Leicester City from both a goal-scoring and assist-providing perspective, meaning those left behind will have to up their game.

We’ve gone over last season’s underlying statistics to assess which players could fill the void and whether the Foxes are worth considering in 2018/19 without Mahrez.

Fantasy Football Scout members can view that data in the Members’ Area and also read our full analysis of it below to help them pick the best possible FPL team this season.

The FFS template has arrived early this season ... 😉

    Fab 4.5
    Robertson Cedric Bailly Douglas/4.5, Peltier/4.0
    Mahrez Salah Cairney 7.0 Stephens
    Kun/Auba, Firmino 7.0

Morning all, which one do you favour?

    Ramsey or Mikhi + .5?

Not getting sucked into Walcott, fixtures or no fixtures, he has to show a bit of form first so I've narrowed it down to one of these.

    Thoughts would be appreciated.

      Ramsey think he’s more nailed.

      Do you have Auba also?

I have an 11m spot with him in but I'm flicking through between him and Aguero, also have Mahrez so either way it'll be a double up and not too concerned by that.

Same here. It’s pretty close between those 2. But if both play equal mins then Aguero probably edges it.

I'm backing Arsenal for a fast start due to having a well prepared pre season and City starting slowly due to half their team being late back and not.

Yup agreed. The only difference is the Chelsea match otherwise fixtures are equally good for City & Arsenal.

Rambo. Emery has hinted that Ramsey is integral to his plans. Although, last I heard, he's still dilly dallying on his contract, so a move might be in store for him.

Thanks, if money was no object I'd go for Ramsey all day long but looking to save .5 here or there, not really sure if it's worth saving it here.

If it was under Wenger then Ramsey but I think Emery may try to strike up the Mkhi-Auba rapport again, so I'd be more minded to "risk" it on Mkhi.

    Ederson / Fabianski
    Robertson - Daniels - Colemen / Tomkins - Zanka
    Sigurdsson - Cairney - Gross - A. Sanchez / Kenedy
    Jiminez - Aub - Aguero

2.5 ITB to switch Aub or Aguero for Kane when fit.

    Patricio-Fabianski
    Robertson-Sakho-Tarkowski-Cedric-Peltier

Strikers don't appear to be best value for price this year. I think there is incredible value in midfield and i'm hoping to write off premium strikers with a spread of talismanic midfielders for each team.

Also, I can go Eriksen > Kennedy & Andone > Firmino

Tbh I think there are several strikers with lots of potential to be value this year, Wood, Sorloth, Tosun etc. Agree that the trend is for them to be outdone by the mids and defs however.

I love Wood but fairly cautious because of EL. I'm quite reserved on Tosun, underlying stats look amazing but very little data to rely on under Silva.

I think Arnie would be an amazing pick this year but with West Ham's fixtures i've decided to hold off a while. I've also been heavily swayed by

Thought about this for a while but I've gone with very safe/set and forget picks this year that should deliver consistently throughout the whole season based off last years data. I don't know if I'd want to rotate any of the above options.

Might downgrade Eriksen to strengthen the bench but he's a placeholder until August is over and Kane is back.

THIS. I'm monitoring 5.0/4.5 options that appear to be starters or I could..

        Eriksen > Kennedy
        Andone > Firmino

The latter looking likely with Liverpool's amazing fixtures in the start and Tottenham having half their team at the WC and with home games at Wembley.

In a 433 I seriously think Alonso could be a left back with the new manager if he even starts. Monitor that. I’m unsure on Bailly but that’s just a personal opinion. Quite like it other than that.

    DDG
    Coleman Robertson Sakho
    Willian Deulofeu Mahrez Salah

    Hamer Costa Yedlin Bednarek

Sticking with this for now. I’ll monitor the Chelsea situation regarding William but think he could be good value potentially.

Would you prefer A or B for the first few gameweeks?

    A. 343 with Tomkins + Firmino or
    B. 442 with Mendy + Alonso

    Thanks.

Hi all- Thinking about trying something different.. How's this look for a 5-2-3?

    Pickford
    Robertson / PVA / Davies / Cedric / Douglas
    Salah / Sanchez
    Kun / Firm / Austin

    Steckelenburg / Cairney / Stephens / Romeu

Looks decent for the formation but I'm far from sold that five at the back is a viable way to go.

Goals will always be scored in the premier league so playing with a back 5 long term will hurt hurt you unless it a block defence from a very good defensive team possibly United and it has to be a short term strategy when they have a good run of fixures

Good points! If I do it, it would definitely be short term. This lineup would give me easy flexibility to adjust as needed. I'm sure it'll change by deadline, just looks good to me right now. Cheers!

Clean sheets were a nightmare last season so unfortunately 4 at the back is the max

I felt b4 that coleman was a great pick but I'm now feeling bailly if nailed is better to start with. I'm i wrong?

With Young on an extended break after WC I'm wondering if Shaw might get his chance at LB and possibly cement his spot. Would be a nice cheap way into United defense if that was to be the case and allows some upgrades elsewhere.

If Bailly was confirmed as 100% nailed in your scenario then yeah I think I'd pick him over Coleman, still those are some tasty early fixtures for Everton.

Sorry mate I don't think I've helped you much here at all!

1 year left in his contract and Mou doesn't like/trust him.. may start a week or two.. it's Young's place to lose.. transfer waiting to happen.. I will stay away

Fair points you make, he just seems like he's really busting a gut to make it in that team, agree it's Young's to lose at the moment and Shaw would have to have a helluva preseason and first few weeks if he does get the nod. Just have a bit of a feeling he might breakthrough this season.

What do you guys think of this team? 0mil itb.
    GK: Pickford (Ryan)
DEF: Coleman, Douglas, Daniels (Cedric, Wan-Bissaka)
MID: Salah, Sane, Son, Jota (Cairney)
    FWD: Auba, Tosun, J. King

Austin looks very tempting at 6mil but I don't know if I can go there again after being burnt over the last couple of seasons.

Looks decent however not sure Daniels is the pick he once was but he is cheap. I would maybe try and find 0.5 for King to Tosun.

Son not around for first few months
Double Everton defence is a no from me
The rest i like but no one from the top 6 in defence won't work

Set up today and been having a mull over a few ideas. Team atm is as follows:

    DDG - Boruc

    Robertson - Cedric - Malone - Wan-Bissaka - Schelotto

Salah - Mane- Mahrez - Neves - Stephens

    Auba - Aguero - Kamara

Have looked to take a different approach to defense in order to get Mahrez and Aguero on the pitch. Would consider downgrading DDG but am not sold on Fabianksi as of yet, meanwhile crossover ederson auba doesnt make sense for a strong GW1. Would also like to fit kolasinic in the team somehow, would be manageable if i downgraded DDG to perhaps Fabianski and then upgrade one of the 4mil. 3-5-2 has served me well since 2014 and looking to continue with such.

Auba & Kun kills the team imo. Kamara, Stephens, Schelotto, Wan-B not going to do much for you.

I know they soak up a bit of cash, but honestly, I need the coverage for a straight swap Kane after a few gameweeks and Kun provides most logical option. If i only went with auba or kun itd be tosun or austin instead with 4.5, letting me add kolasinic and boost midfield. Not sure if that's best option though as I'm not confident without two strikers for first three GW given fixture's too.
