Spencer’s RMT

Fabianski – Bettinelli

Mendy – Robertson – Luiz – Boly – Tomkins

Salah – Mahrez – Pedro – Deulofeu – Stephens

Aguero – Arnautovic – Zaha

Goalkeepers

  • 9.0 on goalkeepers.  Fabianski with FPL pedigree.  Unsure on Bettinelli, but rotation with Fabianski looks good.
  • First 10 games: CRY – BOU – BUR – WLV – eve – WAT – eve – bha – cda – BOU

Defence

  • Mendy/Robertson/Luiz/Boly/Tomkins
  • Most I’ve spent in defence from the start – I normally play just one big hitter and 4 rotating cheapies.
  • All defenders with potential for attacking points.
  • Mendy a risk worth taking, looked brilliant before his injury.
  • Luiz a risk, so will keep a close eye on the Community Shield.
  • Tomkins looks to be the best 4.5 for me.

Midfielders

  • Got to start with Salah.  Can always downgrade.
  • Mahrez was brilliant at Leicester.  Playing with better players at Man City, I can only see him getting better.  Another one to look out for in the Community Shield.
  • Pedro is a risk, but if he’s nailed he will get attacking points.
  • Watford fixtures look favourable.  Deulofeu looked grerat when on loan from Barcelona last season.
  • Stephens is my 4.5 bench player.

Forwards

  • Aguero is world class.  Possibly some doubts on whether he starts or not.  Keeping an eye on the Community shield.  Will swap to Aubameyang if there are doubts.
  • Arnautovic ended last season in spectacular fashion and this has continued into pre-season.  Made the mistake of not getting him in last time around.
  • Zaha also reclassified as a forward this season.  Does this mean more bonus points?  Doubts over who his strike partner will be at Crystal palace, but I see him returning points regardless. Will need to reconsider if he moves.

1.0 itb to use in an emergency.  eg upgrade Mahrez to Mane, or Deulofeu to Doucoure.

Conclusion

The Key here is flexibility.  Setting price brackets for positions and then finding the right players to fit in.  eg I don’t know if Pedro is the right 6.5 to have, but can easily switch to Jota, Richarlison, or whoever else.

Thoughts? Suggestions? Where have I gone wrong, and where have I gone right? What do you suggest I change?

Remember, post your RMTs below in this article. There will be another new RMT Community Article tomorrow.

I would say Zaha but depends on how the forwards settle. Early to say IMO.

I've gone off Zaha with all the transfer talk

Mitrovic might be OK...a bit pricey for a promoted team forward though

    Hi everybody, first post here.

    Ederson / Boruc (-any feeder)

Mendy Robertson Tarkowski Tomkins (Wan Bissaka)

Salah Sane Jota Richarlison (Hudson Odoi)

    Auba Zaha Arnautovic

    - Considering Firmino/Sorloth for Zaha Arnautovic

    - Could downgrade Tarkowski to a 4.5

    - Willing to punt on Jota and Richarlison, their stats are very promising & Hudson Odoi has looked Chelsea's best player in pre-season. Sarri also said he's staying and will 'get minutes'

    - Mahrez got injured apparently so waiting for Comm. Shield to decide if Sane stays or leaves.

Any advice would be welcomed! 🙂

The risk with Hudson is you want a 4.5 that will come on when everyone else doesn't play and get s boring 2 points.

If and when Odoi plays, he might do very well, but he'll be on your bench. When you actually need him, he likely won't be there

That's fair, by committing 3 up front I won't get a chance to ever play 5 in mid. I had Stephens, might fit him back in.

        Thanks.

      Welcome to the site mate.
looks ok to me - would you want a more nailed 5th mid than HO as a steady 2/3 pt as a sub on your bench if needed?

Jota/Richarlison bit risky as 3rd/4th mid but as good as any at their price and easy to switch to someone around same price if there's a big difference in form.

      Good luck for the season

Thanks Buzzy, I'll probably end up replacing Jota/Richarlison. Waiting to see if Pedro starts tomorrow. Mkhitaryan could also be an option but already have Auba.

I like it and it's different, no Arnautovic or Zaha and you've gone for Pogba!
Small concerns over Coleman's, Jota's and Schurrle's returns.
And I'd personally prefer more security of starts than Kamara.

I like the pogba move too, going to wait a couple of weeks myself but I like it . The defence looks light though and no minutes for kamara

not keen on double burnley def with Jo Hart in goal.
think there are better options than Coleman and Daniels.
not sure if Pogba will be allowed to play further forward if Matic is out.
not keen on the Schurrle pick - he hasn't done much in the last couple of seasons.
maybe it's just me but think you've got to many risks here.

Posted this previously but would like more opinions on it....

    Ederson
    Robertson Mendy Tompkins
    Salah Mané Richarlison Pedro
    King Arnautovic Tosun

    Stekelenburg Cairney Wan-Bissaka Peltier

5m in the bank - why?
    i) WC stars to return
    ii) Premiums to reveal themselves
    iii) Arsenals first two fixtures
iv) Man City midfield mine field
    v) Everton, Bournemouth and CP nice early fixtures
vi) think the above team can hold the forth early doors

Disagree. I agree nobody knows which premium player will explode. But we guess. Those that are right, have a great start! Those that are wrong make the transfer / wildcard and then all is good.

You're effectively giving up and assuming you are wrong, which I don't like. It's more fun if you use the cash! But, each to their own. Best of luck 🙂

    I’m happy with this!

(Said nobody ever, a week from kickoff.)

    Fab | Foster
    DLuiz | TAA | Kiko | PvA | Ake
    Salah | Sanchez | Sig | Mkhi | Jota
    Arnie | Mitro | Tosun

    0.5 ITB

Thinking of downgrading PvA to W-B and maybe using that to upgrade Mkhi and/or Mitro. Other thoughts?

Ake?...did you see how many clean sheets BOU kept last year!?

      No City is suicide

Minimal Liverpool won't help you either.

Going big on Everton is risky

      Double Watford defence...hmmm

A lot of punts on promoted teams (Mitro, Jota...)

I would be wary of Kiko (Watford I assume). They appear to have 6 fullbacks and who knows who first choice will be. If it were me I would look at taking some cash out of the midfield and beefing up the forward line. It’s brave to go with that front line as if £9.5m or above strikers start to fire it becomes more difficult to get them in.

Will TAA get much game time early doors ad is he a rotation risk once CL starts?

Hope that helps (not that I’m an expert of course!)

There doesn’t seem to be much love for PVA, am I missing something? CP have great fixtures (apart from Pool GW2), he’s a nailed starter, and he has scored twice with 2 assists so far in pre-season.

Fab at risk from Adrian, otherwise yep looks good. Never a fan of holding money itb, but planning a move to KDB actually looks good.

Be warned, it'll be hard to stick to that. You'll need transfers at the start because it's so unpredictable, and this plan uses them all up until after gw3, which is a long long time

      1. Who is Mandy (on the bench)? Is that Mendy? If so either get him in the team or get another £6m who is in your starting 11.

      2. Cedric is unlikely to play gw1 and personally I question Southampton defensively.

£16m to spend on two midfielders. Should it be:

    Eriksen and Mata
    or
    Mahrez and Mkhitaryan
    or another combo?

    This is my current squad:

    3-4-3

    Gk: Ryan (Pickford)
Def: Cedric, Robertson, Daniels (Tomkins, Peltier)

Missing a player on the bench

Solid. Davies could play at CB this season so don't expect big returns, and rumour has it that Eriksen may start of deep.

Otherwise, looks solid. Benching Ederson might not be popular here though 😉

    Thoughts on this team ?

    De Gea (Boruc)
    Robbo/Mendy/Cedric(Jagielka/WB)
    Salah/Pedro/Rich/Lucas(Cairny)
    Aguero/Firmino/King

Plan is to swap Firmino and Lucas to Auba and Gray(lei) after two weeks

Could keep Bobby and swap out aguero instead if hes not seeming nailed

    All opinions appreciated

Nice. Will Lucas start as Son is playing the first game before leaving for Asian Cup?

im not sure but lamela seems to be injured again and if eriksen is playing deep and alli not likely to start he should get the game but again im not certain.
Also if kane isnt fit to start son would probably play up top.

looks like a good differential option for the first couple of weeks

      would start mendy
maybe spent too much in def though it does look good
Austin is a bit of a risk with fitness issues but could be gold if he stays fit
overall good team but its a 4-4-2 or 4-3-3 cant spend that much and not start all four def

i wouldn't mitrovic is a red card waiting to happen
would monitor wilson and maybe see if u can stretch to king
ans also keep an eye on ings if he gets his move.
lots of good options for the budget striker slot

If you go for Mendy, i would always start him tbh and 5,5 for Coleman as part of a shaky Everton def might be too high of an investment, better elsewhere

      Looks good overall

Would you swap coleman to Bertrand and use .5 elsewhere or maybe a straight swap to PVA?

PVA would be your 2nd CPL defender, maybe the Chelsea defense offers some good options ... you might also go for a good 4,5 alternative (Tomkins and Dunk/Duffy come to mind) and upgrade one of your sub7 mids 😉

    Looking for a RMT

    Ederson
    Robertson, Bailly, Tomkins
    Salah, Eriksen, Pedro, Mhiki
    Arnie, Zaha, Aguero

    Bench: 4,0, Duffy, Malone, Cairney

Pedro might get replaced by Richarlison

Nothing to say. Looks good to me. Mhkytarian may be one to keep an eye on, though if Ramsey is injured then I suspect he plays.

Pedro is the other to watch as you say but there are tons of good £6.5 options this year.

This is very good. I’d start with Rich over mkhi due to fixtures etc. Try and get Luiz over Tomkins.

Have not changed this team for a while so must be a good sign right?

    Ederson
    Bailly Luiz VVD
    Salah Eriksen Jota Richarlison
    Aguero Arnie Mitrovic

    Stek Hughes Tompkins AWB

Only positions I'm not sure on are Eriksen and the two 6.5 mids (thinking Maddison/Pedro might be worth it)

Luiz we will know next Sunday but I think Christensen may start, just see how promoted players start, they never normally hit the ground running, but from what I have seen from Jota last year you never really know until you try..

Probably will do that once Lovren is back.

A lot of people have said Luiz has had good stuff said about him by Sarri.

        Thanks for the thoughts lads

Ok round 2, started from scratch. Got Salah in.

    Pickford-Fabianski
    Trent-Monreal-Tomkins-Mee-Daniels
    Salah-Mhkitaryan-Deulofeu-Richarlison-Pedro
    Aubameyang-Firminio-Zaha

    0.0 ITB
Only concern is maybe the defence - could potentially downgrade pedro/richarlison.

In my opinion i think the squad as a whole is pretty solid (on paper)
Can always downgrade Salah to free up funds elsewhere

I like it but Monreal hasn't been involved at all yet has he? I'm sure I read somewhere Maitland-Niles could play LB

That is a good point - I'm sure he will be nailed on after a few games in, with Kolasinac out for 8-10 weeks.

Monreal is meant to be starting in the friendly tonight.

I think Maitland Niles be a back up utility player as naturally he's a Centre Mid but has looked convincing playing full back too.

Something to def think about though.

I’d downgrade Pedro > Cairney and use the extra funds in defence. Not sold on Trent. Mee might now be as effective considering Burnley have Europa games and Daniels doesn’t fill me with much confidence. Otherwise ok!

      1. SenjorBob
        • 10 Years
        5 years, 9 months ago

I'm not convinced on Pedro - could see heavy rotation unless Willian leaves. Cairney was in my first squad so would be an easy swap for me.

Maybe I'm blinded by that fact I think Trent is quality - I end up always putting him in.
Personally would rather Robertson so will see what I can do.
Burnley, whilst I don't think will have the same season, they are a team who are usually very solid at the back.

    Here goes!
I have a few options within my squad but I’m almost there!!

    Ederson/Stekel
    Rudiger/Robertson/Bailly/Wan B/Diop
    Salah/Sanchez/Richarlison/Lennon/Odoi
    Zaha/Aubameyang/Arnautovic

    All money spent..
Slightly unsure on Bailly and tempted with McGuire maybe benched first with WB (ful) coming in this week and Diop next hm BOU

Lennon I think is a good option but injury concerns (hamstring) so thinking of Cairney/Hughes or maybe try and squeeze deloufeu in but need an extra .5

Sanchez I think will start well and worried I’ll regret it, Aubameyang is another where I’m thinking of starting with Aguero then moving over GW3..

The foundations are there just a few considerations to take into account

      • 10 Years

Pretty good. Not sure Lennon starts if Brady fit. Defence seems pricey to me, but could be a good strategy as over the season the premium defenders offer the best value. (E.g. Davies got 150 points in around 2100 mins last season and is 6.0).

Might be sacrificed when Arsenal play a top team, to strengthen mdf up.. Personally I think he could surprise a few, emery might get the best out of him, confidence is key.. I have gone Aubameyang for his pace and Henry style player and he is likely to play pretty much every game unless injured

Personally think Aubameyang and Lacazette work really well together.
But Emery likes to play with 1 up top and want's Auba as his main striker.

Not worth the risk picking Lacazette from the start in my opinion but one to keep an eye on for sure.

looks good to me, im my opinion Azpi is a bit overpriced

its pretty safe overall, only little punt is Jota in your starting XI .... but with 6,5 you are able to jump on some bandwagons in the lowerpriced mf segment
