Introduction to the Article Type

With so many RMTs on site, we’re going to start collecting them in these RMT Community Articles.

To start, site regular and moderator Spencer has given us his team, and some explanations of his choices. Feel free to comment on his team.

This is also a place for you to post your team, and please respond to a few others while you’re at it!

Mods have been alerted, and will spend some time on these pages responding.

Spencer’s RMT

Fabianski – Bettinelli

Mendy – Robertson – Luiz – Boly – Tomkins

Salah – Mahrez – Pedro – Deulofeu – Stephens

Aguero – Arnautovic – Zaha

Goalkeepers

  • 9.0 on goalkeepers.  Fabianski with FPL pedigree.  Unsure on Bettinelli, but rotation with Fabianski looks good.
  • First 10 games: CRY – BOU – BUR – WLV – eve – WAT – eve – bha – cda – BOU

Defence

  • Mendy/Robertson/Luiz/Boly/Tomkins
  • Most I’ve spent in defence from the start – I normally play just one big hitter and 4 rotating cheapies.
  • All defenders with potential for attacking points.
  • Mendy a risk worth taking, looked brilliant before his injury.
  • Luiz a risk, so will keep a close eye on the Community Shield.
  • Tomkins looks to be the best 4.5 for me.

Midfielders

  • Got to start with Salah.  Can always downgrade.
  • Mahrez was brilliant at Leicester.  Playing with better players at Man City, I can only see him getting better.  Another one to look out for in the Community Shield.
  • Pedro is a risk, but if he’s nailed he will get attacking points.
  • Watford fixtures look favourable.  Deulofeu looked grerat when on loan from Barcelona last season.
  • Stephens is my 4.5 bench player.

Forwards

  • Aguero is world class.  Possibly some doubts on whether he starts or not.  Keeping an eye on the Community shield.  Will swap to Aubameyang if there are doubts.
  • Arnautovic ended last season in spectacular fashion and this has continued into pre-season.  Made the mistake of not getting him in last time around.
  • Zaha also reclassified as a forward this season.  Does this mean more bonus points?  Doubts over who his strike partner will be at Crystal palace, but I see him returning points regardless. Will need to reconsider if he moves.

1.0 itb to use in an emergency.  eg upgrade Mahrez to Mane, or Deulofeu to Doucoure.

Conclusion

The Key here is flexibility.  Setting price brackets for positions and then finding the right players to fit in.  eg I don’t know if Pedro is the right 6.5 to have, but can easily switch to Jota, Richarlison, or whoever else.

Thoughts? Suggestions? Where have I gone wrong, and where have I gone right? What do you suggest I change?

      I am not sure Sørloth will be a starter but that is ok as you should have some good cover on your bench.

      I am also not sure if Cedric will start the season so keep an eye out for team news before the deadline other than that your team looks good.

      Looked good until Kamara starting, worth (as a minimum) finding 0.5 to get a 5.0m mid to start instead or Zohore instead of Kamara

      Midfield is a bit punts but could pay off with the premium defence! Kenedy has poor fixtures early on but presume you’ll be benching him?

    Getting pretty set on this with the thought being Sanchez can become Hazard/KDB if United don’t start well. I’d like one more premium defender but am also pretty set in the front 6....any thoughts?

        TAA thought is worth a punt, as at that price point I didn’t fancy anyone else bar maybe a Burnley defender and Wan Bissaka can always sub in for him. Yeh Bilva is my main gamble but even off the bench with City’s fixtures he could rack up some goals and/or assists

        Cheers, i’ll take that as a positive! Yeah I’ve been debating Robertson to a 5.0 and Patricio to Ederson but don’t think it’s worth it! Shame Bilva wasn’t slightly cheaper!

      PVA worth 1m more than Tomkins?
      Everton defence have not looked solid at all in pre season.
      Is Sanchez worth 1m more than Mane, Eriksen & Mahrez?
      4 attackers for 7m and under. Will they all keep performing? And will enough viable alternatives be available if they don’t perform?

      Very, very nice. It might be worth considering downgrading Coleman to a 5.0 or Tomkins to Wan Bissaka. Good chance you might need the 0.5itb to upgrade Sane to KDB. Pep's comments don't feel me with hope regarding Sane's game time.

      Really good. Although I think I'd prefer a 6.5mil mid slot as there are so many potentially good options at that price point.

    I don't get the Aguero logic. Even if he starts GW1, both Auba and Kun have bad fixtures (equally) and Jesus might play 2nd GW and GW3 onwards, both Auba and Kun have good fixtures.

      Having either a premium defender (this week Bellerin) or Doucoure on the bench each week seems like a bit of a waste of funds... I'd downgrade a defender and try to get Firmino

        True... Bellerin is £5.5m so I am only going to save £1m to downgrade; may need to be one of the others.
