Watchlist Update – Mitrovic set for return to form

We have now completed our updating of the Watchlist ahead of Fantasy Premier League’s return in Gameweek 9.

Earlier this week we looked at Goalkeepers, Defenders and Midfielders and we finish with the Forwards section.

Sergio Aguero (£11.3m) enjoys another week at the top of his section of the Watchlist with his position stronger than it was at the start of the month. As we promised, we have now removed his Rotation Risk factor now that it has become very clear that he is the number one striker at Manchester City again. He has started every single league match this season and has had a rest over the international break while Gabriel Jesus (£10.2m) was in action for Brazil.

Alexandre Lacazette (£9.7m) is another non-mover after his brace against Fulham in Gameweek 8. He’s a man in form with an appealing match-up with Leicester at the Emirates Stadium this weekend and we see no reason to move him down until Arsenal’s schedule stiffens up in a few weeks.

Aleksandar Mitrovic (£6.9m) creeps back up to third place on the list as Fulham enter a spell of more appealing fixtures. The Cottagers face Cardiff (away), Bournemouth (home) and Huddersfield (away) in the next three Gamwweeks. Mitrovic may only have one goal in his last four matches but we believe that many of them were difficult for him to excel in. Fulham have always struggled away at Everton while Arsenal are clearly a team in form right now. As has been the case for much of this season, the only player to have registered more goal attempts than Mitrovic in the last four Gameweeks is Aguero.

Raúl Jiménez (£5.6m) slips down as Wolves edge a little closer to a tough set of matches. After Watford (home) and Brighton (away), the newly-promoted side must face Spurs (home) and Arsenal (away) in Gameweeks 11 and 12. For that reason, we’ve removed Jiménez’s Favourable Fixtures factor. However, it’s not bad enough to receive an Unfavourable Factor as it’s Huddersfield (home) and Cardiff (away) in Gameweeks 13 and 14.

Marko Arnautovic (£7.0m) rises up the ranks as West Ham’s fixtures improve a little. He has shaken off the Unfavourable Fixtures factor but we are reticent to put the Favourable Fixtures on him just yet. It’s Spurs up next for the Hammers, then a trip to Leicester (who rank fifth-best for big chances allowed at home so far) and there’s Manchester City in Gameweek 13. Once Spurs and Leicester are out of the way it looks much better with Burnley, Huddersfield, Newcastle and Cardiff between Gameweek 11 and 15.

Leicester striker Jamie Vardy (£9.0m) is up next as he comes into Gameweek 9 with both form and fixtures on his side. Leicester rank third for offensive potential on our Season Ticker over the next seven Gameweeks while Vardy has three goal involvements in his last four league appearances. The striker has been comparing favourably for underlying statistics with only Paul Pogba and Harry Kane registering more shots on target than him since Gameweek 5.

Callum Wilson‘s (£6.4m) double-figure haul in Gameweek 8 has pulled his form back up to A and helped him climb a little higher up the rankings. Gameweek 9 serves up a great opportunity for him to delivering FPL returns again as a poor Southampton side comes to the Vitality Stadium.

Glenn Murray (£6.6m) also climbs as a result of Brighton’s continued fixture swing. They are top of the Season Ticker for attacking potential over the next seven Gameweeks starting with a trip to Newcastle. Murray’s underlying numbers aren’t as impressive as some of the other entries, which holds him back a little as well as the fact that, while he has four goals at home this season, he has scored just once away.

Harry Kane (£12.5m) drops like a stone from fifth to ninth on the Watchlist after blanking against Cardiff in Gameweek 8. The fact that he had three goals in two matches before that means he keeps A for form, as well as the fact that he is top for shots on target since Gameweek 5. However, he does lose his Favourable Fixtures factor with Man City, Chelsea and Arsenal three of Spurs’ next six opponents. Meanwhile, Wolves and Crystal Palace, their opponents in Gameweek 11 and 12 respectively, have ranked fairly high for their defence this season too.

Propping up the Forwards section of the Watchlist is Manchester United’s Romelu Lukaku (£10.9m). He falls down now that Manchester United’s fixtures are set to stiffen up and that his form has dropped to C. He is now without a goal in three matches and over the last four Gameweeks, he has just one shot on target.

    Hi all.

Iv decided I'm taking first hit of the season to get Robertson in.... For Alonso!!

Robbo fixtures will yield a lot of points i think. Alonso been disappointing last while too.

Keeping mitb to reverse decision if needs be.

    Yah or nay??

What will you do if/when Alonso next scores/assists/double digits?

He’s a player I just don’t want the stress of not having.

Especially after 4 games with no attacking returns, he’s more dangerous than ever - he’s a time bomb just ticking away until the next explosion.

Robbo looks a must have too - as does a Mendy - I’d be trying to get all 3 as a priority. But especially Alonso, as his boom-bust cycle is surely common knowledge by now... he’s FPL gold dust, probably the best value player in the game. He just needs patience.

He has 14 goals, 12 assists, 32 clean sheets, and 35 baps in his last 72 games... for 7.0m. That’s just absolutely insane numbers. 4 blanks and some drop off in statistics is not a reason to sell imo. Could be wrong of course, but from my cold dead hands will Alonso be leaving my team.

I reckon he’s a 7.5 next year too. Possibly the first 8.0 defender if he went mental for another few games this year.

And it’s actually funny now that we almost talk about an Alonso “blank” as a game where he doesn’t score or assist, not a game where he doesn’t keep a CS, that says it all really!

Was he? Wow... I thought he was 7.0 or 7.5. Could definitely see Alonso being 8.0 then, he only needs another 4 or 5 goals, 4 or 5 assists & 11-12 cleansheets. Has 30 games to do it, so not out of the question.

With Fab, he'll get save points even if they concede. But West Ham have looked considerably tighter at back then in opening games. I'm thinking of dropping Foster for Fab.

I'm also considering the double up instead of getting Mendy.
It allows me to get Maddison instead of Fraser.
Leicester's fixtures look too good to ignore.
Not a fan of hits. Can you just sort out Mané this week?

    Alonso Cook Bony (WB Peltier)
    Hazard Rich Walcott Fraser (Maddison)
    Aguero(c) Kane Ings

Am I bonkers to save FT? I don't see any massive improvements by using 1 FT, I don't really want to lose any of my big guns this week, and I think having 2 FTs next week could be valuable. Any thoughts?

Maybe - the bookies odds between Ings and Mitro scoring this week are surprisingly close though, and Ings has fair fixtures coming up (though so does Mitro to be fair!). Tricky one 🙂

Another one I’m considering. If Eriksen and Alli are still out I won’t though.

I’m struggling on who to bench. I think Leicester and Arsenal will have lots of goals. I’m not going to bench Maddison myself .

Worth-4 for Tomkins to TAA, Kane to Arnie and BSilva to Salah to put out this team?

    Patricio
    Doherty Trippier TAA Alonso
    Hazard Salah Richarlison
    Aguero (c) Mitrovic Arnie

    Foster Fraser AWB Billing

I’d just do Kane and Bilva to Arnie and Salah. Play Fraser then. I don’t see the point in taking a hit for TAA and benching Fraser personally.

What to do with Kane? Only captain option really this week.

    A) Kane > Aguero (C)

    Or

    B) Mane > Sterling (C)

Wait until you hear tomorrow if Mane will be for or not. That could be your decision made if he is ruled out.

    Evening,

Is it worth doing Mane -> Hazard tonight before price changes price me out?

Or leave it and switch to Sterling if Mane ruled out

Hello all, how does this WC squad look?

    Patricio/Hamer
    Doherty/TAA/Yedlin/Duffy/Balbuena
    Salah/Sterling/Hazard/Rich/Kenedy
    Arnie/Vardy/Murray

    Thanks in advance 🙂

I was deadset on Murray when I activated my WC, but when I reconsider it - it looks quite likely that he will score 0 goals in the next 4 games... Downgrade Kenedy and Murray>Mitro would be better

    Ryan
    Alonso Trippier TAA Doherty
    Hazard Richarlison Fraser
    Aguero (c) Kane Mitrović
    Hart Madison Hojbjerg AWB
    2 ft 1.4 itb

A)Kane and Fraser to Salah and Wilson
    B) Trippier to Mendy/Robertson
    C) both A and B for a hit
    D) something else

What's your top must-have's for the next few weeks?
    Consider value for money too.

I would say Hazard Salah Doherty Mitrovic
