Top 10,000 FPL managers benefit from holding Salah for Gameweek 10

The top 10,000 Fantasy Premier League managers were rewarded for their faith in Mohamed Salah (£12.9m) in Gameweek 10.

The Liverpool man had a considerably higher backing for the captaincy among this season’s elite when compared with the overall figures.

Meanwhile, those outside the top echelons of the world rankings seemed slightly more keen on chip usage this weekend.

Ragabolly was unavailable to write the Metrics article this week but was kind enough to let us use his data…

Captains

Salah was comfortably the most captained option among the top 10,000 Fantasy managers this Gameweek, and that decision was largely justified by his 15-point haul.

Over half of the managers in that bracket handed him the armband (53.20%) with Sadio Mané (£9.7m) a long way off in second place with 15.35% backing.

Eden Hazard (£11.4m), still touch and go for a start against Burnley, was the third most popular option.

Contrasting that with FPL managers overall, Salah’s drop in popularity with the masses was reflected in his captaincy among them. He was still the most popular individual but had just a 20.63% share. Meanwhile, 47.71% of managers handed the armband to ‘other’.

Most Popular Players

Salah’s popularity with this season’s most successful managers is also, not surprisingly, borne out in ownership too.

As you can see from the template teams in the different ranking brackets, Salah is in 55.58% of sides inside the top 10,000 compared to the

Again, Mané remains the more fashionable asset when rank is taken out of the equation. He is in 31.58% of teams overall but James Maddison (£7.0m), Richarlison (£6.8m) and Ryan Fraser (£6.0m) are all preferred options to the Senegalese international in the top 10,000.

Chip Usage

Gameweek 10 was another week where the Wildcard was the most-used chip in FPL. It was the top 10,000 managers who were mor keen on using it with 1.92% of them pressing the button, compared to 1.6% overall.

However, it was the other chips that were just about more fashionable outside the top 10,000. 0.97% of managers played the Triple Captain, 1.03% the Free Hit and 0.81% went for the Bench Boost.

Those figures were slightly higher compared to the top 10,000, who are presumably more interested in using those chips when Double Gameweeks come around in 2019.

    Who do you think is the best defender up to 4.5? Going to downgrade TAA to afford Arnautovic. My current backline is:

    Mendy Robertson TAA Fernandez Bennett

      West Ham defence looks good going forward. Any of the options are fine.

        I get that might mean double up on West Ham but they have good fixtures.

    Good morning guys.

    Any news on Hazard? Besides, you think both Lacazette and Sterling start this GW?

    Cheers all!

      Not sure if this counts as news, but apparently Hazard missed training yesterday to get treatment.

    Does Vardy have to go? In theory he's still a great pick but now after being dropped and such, maybe I have to get rid.

      have him and maddison. keeping for now as they face cardiff. if dropped again (or poor performance) i will let them go

      Don't see why hes a great pick in theory, 9 million so much money for what he is

        9 million so much for 20 goals per season?

      His stats are very encouraging, and got a couple of decent fixture. If he doesn't perform I'm thinking of switching to 3-5-2 and taking him out for KdB

      I wouldn't spend 9 mil on Vardy when a little bit more gets the likes of Mane KDB Lacazette etc. Or can be converted into a cheap forward like Arnie and upgrade a cheap def to a premium defender like Mendy. But depends on your team.

    I have an OR 2k - in case helpful to others I would advise the below moves.

    GW11:

    Billing --> CHO
    Jiminez --> Murray

    GW12:

    Mitro --> Kamara

    GW13:

    Hughes --> Madison

    Intend to WC around Christmas:

    Alison - (Stekelen).

    Alonso - VVD - Mendy - Duffy - (Bennett).

    Salah - Hazard - Richarlison - (Hughes) - (Billing).

    Aguero - Mitro - Jiminez.

      So after gw12 you would own Kamara and CHO?

        You can't get much better benchwankery than that.

        More often that not the bench is useless 2 pointers even in testing times like this GW...as long as first sub of Duffy/ Madison then that will be sufficient

        May as well make the unplayable subs the cheapest possible...that's what most WC folks would do anyway right...

        I am just achieving it now with FTs

        You have soooo many options!

        Triple up of Wolves defence is no longer viable. Ditch Bennett for Mendy.

        But that would require a downgrade elsewhere, perhaps simultaneously change Mitro to Murray and downgrade Dilva to Madison

        I don't know if the sums really add up but if not you could always bring in a Kamara or CHO facilitator

        You don't need both as you are in a stronger position than most.

        Whereas I am floundering at the mid-high point so both fodder may be required to catch up...

    Have exact cash to do Fraser & Laca to KDB & Arnie

    Will give me:

    Fab
    Alonso Robbo Pereira
    Hazard Mane KDB Rich
    Kun Arnie Mitro

    Looks great on paper but its not easy to sell form players

    WDYT?

    Really want to ditch Ings, but the best I can figure is...

    Ings + Maddy to Wilson + Pereyra

    Worth it for free?
