Where FPL teams concede the most chances from – Part 1

We are using the latest international break to identify trends in the opening 12 Gameweeks of the 2018/19 season.

This study aims to assess where each FPL team is most susceptible when it comes to conceding goals.

Using data available in the Members Area, we have looked at chances conceded from set pieces, through the middle and down the left or right flank.

With the relevant areas pinpointed for the first 10 teams, this first part then compares these with the upcoming schedule to find out which players stand to benefit.

Across the articles in this series the hope is the build a picture of which FPL assets have the most favourable match-ups with specific team weakness over the next six Gameweeks.

    Which gets more points?

    A) GW13: Laporte & GW14 Laporte (bench Fraser)
    B) GW13: Digne & GW14 Fraser (bench Digne)

I think I know the awnser, but trying to weigh up a punt...

Correct, isn't it? I'd like to go punty but although Digne is interesting for next week - he becomes troublesome thereafter.

Dont have Ederson and the City defence is too strong to miss out on.

Also didn't realised I topped the page.
Another few questions! (Will answer others.)

    Patricio
    Alonso / Robertson / MENDY / DOHERTY
    Salah / Hazard / RICHALISON / Fraser
    Aguero / Arnautovic

    Fabianski // AWB / Barkely / Success

    1) Mendy the only worry ATM?
    2) Best Mendy replacement?
    3) Why Laporte over Stones?
    4) Worth saving a FT this GW or not? *

    *Likely to ship Mendy anyway.

I think not. Still don't know what's up with Martial, do we?

      And of course, there's Pep.

Salah can still easily score and I'd be tempted to hold Barkely for Fulham (if he sits out of the Tottenham match like I'm hoping...)

Salah is my only worry, think the Martial injury is just an ‘international’ one Man City look better attacking wise and Barkley in and out with Martial more nailed.

Can someone tell me why Digne is preferred to Keane when Keane is just 0.1 dearer & he's is outscoring him on points, goals, ppm, baps & attacking threat & was top for assist chances before his injury. Or is it a case of hoping Digne's potential is realised because he plays very advanced so he has great assist potential. Thoughts & thanks.

      - Digne didn't start the season.
      - Digne had been creative
      - Digne is on set pieces
      - Digne looks nailed

I agree Keane could be a great shout (more likely to covert the set piece with his head...) - however I'm not sure what the preferred CB partnership is now Mina is back.

I suppose Keane - Mina... but what about Zouma?

Think Mina might be worth a punt now he’s fit, got a great eye for goal but Digne looks a good option as well, set pieces and very advanced. Needs to start converting that into real FPL points though.

Yeah Digne needs to translate that potential into points. Hopefully Richarlison can start converting some of his crosses, etc

Yeah what's happened to Zouma. When he was at Chelsea he bossed it & hasn't really pushed on since leaving. He's very talented but doesn't seem first choice now at Everton.

    4. jia you
      • 7 Years

For me he has been passing the eye test since getting into the team, has a sweet left foot and potential for assists and even the odd goal imo but it's a bit of a hopeful punt atm!

        • 10 Years

When I looked at both Keane & Digne I actually was going Digne but Keane's goal threat & his superior baps points 9-3 swayed me to him. Also Digne hasn't actually converted that potential into points.

I don't get the hype over Digne.

He's had one attacking return and three clean sheets in 9 games, 33 points.

It's not bad but I just don't see why he is such a popular choice.

    Bench one:

    A) Arnautovic (MCI)
    B) Kenedy (bur)

Finding this quite difficult. Benching Kenedy is the safe move due to Arnie being highly owned and the better player but Newcastle could get a couple goals at Burnley while West Ham are probably looking at one max against City.

    1. I Member
      • 8 Years

There's Arnie's ongoing knee problem to consider as well. I'm sure he'll start but if City are up by 2 or 3 surely Pellegrini will get him off rather than risk further damage in a game that's already gone.

    Would appreciate some feedback please. Whilst I don’t think Salah has been far off scoring big, I am considering swapping him for Sterling for the following reasons;

    1) Liverpool are 13th for xGI in last 6 matches.
    2) Enables me to upgrade Quaner (yes) to a decent 3rd stricter e.g. Jimenez.
    3) I will WC in a few weeks so can easily reverse my decision if Salah bursts into form.

Thoughts please? My team is pretty template, and I’m 5k aiming for 1k (or to not drop out of 10k)

To be honest I'm looking at Aguero to Kane. I know it seems odd given Kun is in better form but I think Jesus will get a couple starts over the Christmas period. Kane won't be rotated and his fixtures are fantastic.

Keane has 1 goal 2 assists this season and is a big threat from set pieces though..

B with a better, cheaper, duller def than Dig, say Yedlin, Dunk..?

What is the point comparing Alonso vs Alonso? Or is it a mistake in A or B?

Very happy to bring Laporte in for Mendy. Never owned Otamendi last season and I see Laporte becoming the same player this season (playing every match).

It feels like I'm the only one not really interested in Laporte...you're really looking at 6 or 2 points each week.Personally, I'm going to try and hold Mendy till GW15 and swap to Trippier. I can afford 0.1m drop on Mendy without losing value.

I’m also not convinced he’s a great option. Really the only think making me consider Laporte is that he’s a pretty nailed City defender. However, he doesn’t have that much attacking threat or BPS potential (especially in a team like city), and also with Ota and Kompany in the wings I can see him getting rotated more.

Someone like digne is more exciting to me, and lows for upgrades elsewhere which could be important over xmas (see my post below)

He does pose a threat too (2 goals in all competitions). I'm happy to pick a player that should get a CS most weeks. If Tripper was fit, then I would have preferred him to Laporte.

Yes, but he has his plum fixtures starting gw15, Chelsea and Arsenal are next two. So Laporte is easy to choose now, may even double rise before it's time to get cheaper Trippier in. And should for example Alonso or Robbo get injury it is no brainer to ditch them for Tripp and keep Laporte.

Majority of them are probably getting him because they want to "cover" Man City defense 😮

You can expect him to drop faster in value during this injury than previous. He is red flagged and hits will be taken to ditch Mendy. He will be 6.1 pretty soon imo.

Seems a very split consensus on Digne on here.

Getting him (or Dunk/Yedlin etc) over Laporte allows me to get Jiminez over Quaner, which helps improve overall squad for the busy fixtures period...

In a team with quickly improving defence and great attacking threat. Good fixtures. 4.8m. What's not to like?

It’s riskier than Laporte for sure, but *shrug*

This is only a move for the next two weeks but with all the uncertainty with Doherty would you get Jonny instead as a Mendy replacement? The money won't really help now tbh
