Scoutcast Episode 275 – Floored

Points ceilings and floors dominate proceedings on our latest Scoutcast as Joe, Az, Luke and Neale look over the key issues facing managers ahead of Gameweek 13.

A chief concern is who to replace red-flagged Benjamin Mendy with, after the Frenchmen underwent surgery last week. The enticing points floor of clean sheet returns offered by the full-back’s Manchester City team mates, John Stones and Aymeric Laporte, appeals to Luke.

Meanwhile, Joe prefers the higher ceiling offered by the likes of Everton left-back Lucas Digne, who has been posting some impressive underlying statistics lately to suggest attacking returns are on the way.

As well as defensive issues our community questions section also cover the value offered by Toffees assets across the pitch, and whether 12.4m priced Harry Kane is worth the outlay when Spurs fixtures turn.

Whether Anthony Martial’s six goals in his last five matches is a sign the Manchester United attacker is  in form, or merely overperforming, is also discussed.

We also find time to look back at the previous set of matches and ahead in detail to Gameweek 13, including the best differentials, strongest clean sheet prospects and our transfer plans.

Captaincy options are also considered, with the maverick selections of Az, Luke and Neale leaving dullard Joe stunned.

It is actually the easiest time to save a FT

I have Doherty and need to replace Mendy. Standard.

Why are people not considering Bennett of Wolves? Curious about him.

    Is Shaqiri likely to start?
Given that Liverpool have a tough CL midweek fixture against PSG, one would think Shaqiri would play in the easier PL game?

Hazard is highly owned 43% so it’s safer I assume to protect rank and go hazard over Sterling. Or is it worth the risk to go maverick?

I’m trying to decide between Sterling & Alonso myself, it’s tough.

      1. Warby84

It’s just the ownership, hazard has his back issue and not looking to full potential, Sterling looks fantasy gold at home and seems to be in peps main plans.. Man city will clearly score more goals so surely sterling all the way?

Haz has been great every time he plays. Also has penalties and Fulham at home next gw. Yes his ownership will hurt you if you don’t own unlike Sterling. Haz is a set and forget this season unless injured imo. Sterling has that rotation risk also which makes it hard to be confident in giving him the armband.

Is a pool double up in defence now a good or bad option?

Double LFC defence still has great potential and I agree on your gut feeling on VVD over Laporte.
However no City defence could be a rank killer so one from each may be wiser.

    Patricio (Hamer)
    Alonso - TAA - Mendy - Bennett - AWB

Just watching scoutcast now and Az talking about Mendy replacements. I've heard a lot of talk about players like Digne, Laporte, Chilwell. Any reason why Ricardo Pereira is not getting mentioned? Averaging 4.9ppg which is more than Laporte and he is considerably cheaper.

      Differentials could pay off.
I'm in same boat with Alonso.

Alonso is a bigger problem than Hazard. Hazard can easily be replaced.

Their fixtures look so poor, but Alonso is tiring me out, he just keeps on producing!

No ones starting him against United.

I have Martial. Actually hope he misses facing Wan-Bissaka.

    Ederson
    Robertson - TAA - *Mendy*
    Salah - Hazard - Richarlison - Fraser
    Aguero - Arnautovic - Ings

Hamer - Wan bissaka - Balbuena - Billing

    1 FT & 0.6M ITB...

    A) Mendy >> Doherty ?
    B) Mendy >> Digne ?
    C) Something else ?

    Thanks guys.

      Doherty short-term, Digne long-term.

Doherty is quite a must-have for this GW though..
