Watchlist Update – Kane and Spurs colleagues rise ahead of fixture swing

We have updated our Watchlist ahead of Gameweek 14 of Fantasy Premier League.

This is our tool, which can be found on the sidebar of the website, that ranks each of the best Fantasy options in each position. We use factors such as form, fixtures and value to choose the order.

There have been some big changes in midfield and attack as well as a return of some popular budget assets in defence.

Harry Kane (£12.3m) is the biggest riser among the forwards as Spurs’ fixture swing is imminent. The man himself is in form having recorded attacking returns in each of his last three outings and, in that time, his underlying statistics are finally consistently at the level we have come to expect from him. Kane will go up against Southampton, Leicester and Burnley in three of his next four matches, all of which he has scored hat-tricks against in the past. Meanwhile, his Gameweek 14 encounter sees him travel to Arsenal. He has five goals in his last six encounters with Spurs’ north London rivals.

Sergio Aguero (£11.5m) remains the top striker despite recent discoveries about his away form. The Gameweek 14 match against Bournemouth at the Etihad Stadium has him as a serious captain candidate this week.

It’s a double delight for owners of Crystal Palace defensive assets as Wayne Hennessey (£4.5m) and Aaron Wan-Bissaka (£4.2m) come back onto the Watchlist. Having emerged from the gauntlet of facing Arsenal, Chelsea, Spurs and Manchester United in four consecutive Gameweeks, the Eagles now fare much better on the Season Ticker. Only two teams rank higher than them for defence over the next four Gameweeks, with Burnley (home), Brighton (away), West Ham (away) and Leicester (home) their next four opponents.

Making way for the pair are Burnley’s Joe Hart (£4.5m) and Watford’s Kiko Femenia (£4.3m). Both players have tough fixtures coming up and neither club has been adept at keeping clean sheets this year.

Liverpool’s best defensive assets Alisson (£5.7m) and Andrew Robertson (£6.5m) remain top of their respective piles on account of their solidity this season. No team has conceded fewer shots inside their penalty box in the last four Gameweeks. However, with an away match at Bournemouth in Gameweek 16 and the hosting of Manchester United in Gameweek 17, their fixtures are no longer favourable over the next four.

After the Wolves defensive duo of Rui Patrício (£4.6m) and Matt Doherty (£4.9m) let their owners down in Gameweek 13, they find themselves in a similar situation on the Watchlist. Regardless of that slip-up at home to Huddersfield, they remain in our consideration but their fixtures have also been downgraded. Trips to Cardiff and Newcastle have excellent clean sheet potential but home matches against Chelsea and Bournemouth between now and Gameweek 17 hold less hope.

There are some big changes in midfield as Leroy Sané (£9.3m) and Dele Alli (£8.9m) make their way onto the Watchlist. They come in for Sadio Mané (£9.9m) and James Maddison (£6.8m) respectively. We felt that doubling-up on a Manchester City midfield of Raheem Sterling (£11.3m) and Sané would be more effective considering the form and fixtures of Mohamed Salah (£13.0m) and Mané. We believe Sané’s place in the team is more secure than usual given the injury to Benjamin Mendy, but because we don’t completely trust Pep Guardiola we have given him the Rotation Risk factor, just as we have on Sterling. The fact that we are more confident over Salah’s place in the team is why he stays top of the Watchlist for now.

Alli comes into consideration with Spurs’ aforementioned fixture swing, amid competition for a place from Christian Eriksen and Son Heung-min. We felt that the South Korean’s place in the Spurs’ side was not as settled as we’d like, even if he is a much more attractive price. Also, Eriksen may have starred against Chelsea but that was without Kieran Trippier in the side, who has assumed many of the Danish international’s set-piece duties this season. If the right-back is back for this nice run then it would be hard to predict Eriksen to match his creativity levels from that win over Chelsea. Meanwhile, Alli has outperformed Eriksen for minutes per touch in the box, minutes per goal attempt in that area and minutes per shot on target this season.

Marko Arnautovic (£7.1m) has been declared fit for Gameweek 14 so he gets to stick around as the second-most important FPL forward.

I looked at the Top 15 in the Career Hall Of Fame. Some are doing well (Numb aka Matthew Jones, Mark Sutherns etc.). These guys are the worst performing. There are a fair few between the 50k and 100k OR mark too.

If I extended it to the Top 20 then Eivind Almhjell (Rank 19, OR 181k) is also in the list. 5 of the Top 20 (25%) outside of the Top 100k.

Would you get D.Silva over Sane if it lets you have enough money in the bank for Kun to Kane next week?
If Sane will have to sell Haz for a hit next week.

Do we think Sane is more nailed than Dilva and will get more mins?

As of now City have a midfield crisis with B.Silva, Gundg & KDB all injured.
Yes they will all probably be back by 2 weeks but none of them have been as imp as Dilva this year.

    Appreciate your thoughts! 🙂

I personally think dilva will be rotated heavily !! He is in 30's and need time to recover.
Also till mendy out sane can hold on to lw spot imo since delph dont provide width and zenchinko isn't good enough imo.

So i would prefer Sane over Dilva !!

Think DSilva good choice until KDB back. With City midfielders any could do great and I would want Kane next week so yes in this scenario get him over Sané in my view.

It’s not that I won’t be able to get Kane next week. It’s just Hazard will have to enable that move will have to downgrade him to a Spurs mid.

Worth Mendy + Salah to Alonso + Sterling for -4 ?

Can someone explain me the trust behind Palace clean sheet this weekend against Burnley? Besides the United clean sheet last week they have been awful

    1. diesel001
      • 7 Years

I don't trust them. If they play the same way as they did against Utd (i.e. very defensive) then I can see them keeping a CS. But they won't - they'll play more open because it is Burnley and that makes the CS more risky IMO.

Alonso Richarlison and Hazard to Sterling Sane and Peltier for -8 to be able to do Aguero straight to Kane on Wednesday is bonkers, right? Languishing in 300k place, want to do something drastic. Current team:

    Patricio (Hamer)

    Robertson AWB Doherty (Peltier Jonny)
    Hazard Salah Richarlison Siggy (Højbjerg)
    Arnautovic Aguero (Success).

          i think that's bonkers mate

are you actually selling haz & alonso before fulham home? and selling Rich who is about 1.5 underpriced and has two lovely home games in 15 & 16, as well as great fixtures from 19-26...

By all means if you've a gut feel go for it as it could work out. But i would vomit all over my living room if i woke up to see those transfers made to my team

Your team is good, stick with it & be patient. Work on trying to get Doherty & Patricio to City/Pool defenders

I've captained Salah 4 times every time he returned good solid 16 pointer's !! It's time for Sterling though 😛
Hopefully Salah keep giving 8's at max from now on

With regards to Salah. Between now and 21 he has :

Four tough games where you wouldn’t captain him

Likely bench v Burnley and almost certain bench v Newcastle home

Leaves only Bournemouth and Wolves away.

    Time to sell ??

This makes sense to me, too given the timing.

            I think that's when I'm planning Salah/Pereira/Wilson to Auba/Bellerin/TBD (Son?) or Laca/Bellerin/TBD (Alli?).

          Morata on the bench?

Maybe Sarri is giving Giroud a run out to get some game time.

Hmm, this wait and see business means I can no longer afford Hazard to Sterling if we get indications of Hazard not playing against Fulham (ugly ham in swedish). Still hoping he makes the lineup or I will be forced to make another transfer...perhaps Sané in.

    Already taken a -4

Would you take a further -8 (to avoid being priced out of)

    Vardy. Salah. To mane. Kane

    Would leave me with:

    Ryan. Hart
    Awb. Doherty. Vvd. Digne. Diop
    Dilva. Sane. Mane. Richarlison. Diangana
    Aguero. Kane. Jiminez.

I’d strongly advise against a -12 this week that involves ditching Salah!

I couldn’t take it anymore and made my moves against my better nature to wait - don’t expect conclusive enough guidance from the pressers anyway

    This lot G2G?

    0.4itb
    Fab
    Alonso, Robbo, Doherty, Schindler
    Salah, Haz, Sané, Fraser
    Kun (C), Wilson

    (Foster) (Duffy, Diangana, Success)

Plan next week will b either play WC or do Fraser, Kun > Paterson, Kane (-4)

    Looking ok?
