Captain Sensible

Who is the best FPL captain for Gameweek 4?

It’s all about Manchester City in the captaincy debate for Gameweek 4 as Brighton come to the Etihad.

However, that hasn’t necessarily made the discussion a straight-forward one.

We have got another Captain Sensible article ready to help you decide who to give the armband too this weekend.

As this uses data from the Fantasy Football Scout Members Area, only those signed up for the 2019/20 season can access it in full.

Captain Poll

Raheem Sterling (£12.2m) has made sure that the Gameweek 4 captaincy debate is somewhat one-sided as far as our captain poll is concerned.

The Manchester City attacker currently has a massive 51.4% share of the vote (as of Thursday evening) after scoring five goals in his first three matches of the season.

Meanwhile, Brighton have just one clean sheet in 2019/20, recorded against a woeful Watford side on the opening weekend of the campaign.

Since then, the Seagulls have conceded against West Ham and Southampton at the Amex Stadium.

That’s why there is significant interest in Manchester City players, Sterling the prime candidate.

His dominance of the vote is displayed by a 35.4% gap between him and Sergio Aguero (£12.0m) in second place, who currently has the support of 16%.

The Argentinian’s brace against Bournemouth has reminded Fantasy managers what this FPL legend is capable of.

The recent injury to Gabriel Jesus (£9.5m), expected to keep him out until the end of the international break, seems to have restored confidence in Aguero’s ability to play 90 minutes.

After having his game-time managed in the first two Gameweeks of 2019/20, he stayed on the pitch for the entirety of Manchester City’s win at the Vitality Stadium.

Mohamed Salah‘s (£12.5m) 15-point haul in Gameweek 3 has ensured he returns in small part to the captaincy debate.

The Egyptian is the third-most-popular candidate ahead of Saturday’s trip to Burnley with 6.4% of the vote.

The Clarets have defended stoutly this season but have only kept one clean sheet so far, so Jurgen Klopp will be hoping his Liverpool side can keep the winning form going at Turf Moor.

Kevin de Bruyne (£9.7m) completes a trio of Manchester City candidates among the poll’s top five for Gameweek 4.

Just 4.1% of the voters have gone with the Belgian midfielder but there is certainly plenty of cause to consider him for the armband.

De Bruyne may not be as explosive an option as Sterling and Aguero but he has been reliable this season.

Having conquered 2018/19’s injury problems and re-established himself as a regular starter in Pep Guardiola’s side, de Bruyne has attacking returns in each of his outings so far this season.

They have all come in the form of assists, registering four in total, and averaging 7.7 points per game across the first three matches.

Perhaps the most exciting differential option for the captaincy in Gameweek 4 is Norwich City striker Teemu Pukki (£7.0m).

Like Sterling, he also has five goals in his first three matches of the campaign, as well as an assist too.

This weekend Pukki faces a West Ham defence that has not inspired confidence for quite some time under Manuel Pellegrini.

That will be why 3.8% of our voters are considering the Finland international for the armband.

Meanwhile, Harry Kane (£11.1m), Sébastien Haller (£7.4m), Nathan Redmond (£6.4m), Mason Mount (£6.2m) and Tammy Abraham (£7.1m) are the only other options with more than 1% support in the poll.

    So, ladies and gentlemen...
Who scored more in the coming weeks?

    A - Mount + King
    B - McGinn + Abraham

    1. Gudjohnsen

A but I really don't like King. Prefer Barnes in that price bracket.

Agreed! But I have Barnes and Pukki already... And there is noone else appealing that price.

    WC draft

    Pope, Button
    TAA, Digne, Laporte (Kelly, Lundstram)
Salah, De Bruyne, Sterling, Mount, Cantwell
    Haller, Pukki (Greenwood)

    Thoughts?

Starting Cantwell ? What if he is doing nothing during next 4 weeks?
You then need to find a replacement at 4.7 ... Fels to risky imo

Yeah, I could downgrade Laporte to Zinchenko but are there any good mids in the 5.9 bracket?

Best ones would be Ceballos and Mc Ginn.
Or you don't play 5 mids in your starting line up ...

You will need to hope that team don't start doing CS.
As your team is super strong in mifield but very light in defense.
Plus do we really think Arsenal is going to keep clean sheets? (I'm also on a WC and also took Mait-Niles as he has a beautiful price and is nailed until Bellerin comes back but now I have changed of opinion, see team a bit bellow)

I’m thinking of using WC now so I can get Aguero....amongst others

There aren’t many fixture swings for the decent teams apart from Arsenal in GW 8 so hopping on to other players should be simple if team is set up

Any reasons not to do it?.

But if you are confident with this team (which is a good team but I really wanted to change 4/5 small thinks to differentiate from other teams in my league) then yeah you are good to go for this week end.

          Yes, for free.

First on bench is Dendocker and after playing 90 minutes yesterday I fear he may be rested. Second on bench is Lundstram and playing him against Chelsea doesn't feel like a good idea.

Initial plan was to hold Martial but I'm starting to doubt it now.

Prefer a Chelsea/West Ham mid for the next 4-6 gameweeks because of the fixtures.

How come Fantasy Football Scout doesn't have a dedicated price change predictor? Could be a one-stop-shop for everything FPL

Stone age attitude on this site about taking hits.
I look at the top 100 each year and I have noticed a distinct move towards hits on a yearly basis.
It would be a service against the grain of this site as I see it.

      Best option between

      A McGinn Jota
      B Cantwell Barnes
      C Cantwell Haller

Just short of being able to get McGinn and Barnes.

      A. Martial to Mount
      B. Martial to Mount, Kane to Aguero (c) -4
      C. Martial to Salah, Kane to barnes -4

i like B the best for this week but A and C are more in line with my long term plan. I have Mane KDB and sterling already and i dont want a 4th heavy hitter in the long run. A keeps my current structure. C moves the funds out of kane in to salah (part of long term plan) and i will downgrade mane in the coming weeks to free funds for the defence if i go with that option.

B can also mean that i can keep my long term plan but it will cost 4 extra points in order for me to reach there because im bringing in a player who isnt part of the long term plan but if i do go that route i will keep him for the next 2-3 games and perhaps even captain him in those. essentially B costs 4 points over A and C so do you guys this B can outscore A and C over the next 2-3. bear in mind that getting aguero also means that i may miss out on sterling captaincy points in the coming weeks.

I prefer B, captain Kun at GW4, and cap Sterling when Jesus back on the bench

I have been trying to get stats on last 10 games home/away for Salah vs Mane. I made the mane choice last week and it backfired but not so sure Salah will outscore Mane this week. A Citeh asset seems wise to captain this week.
