Scoutcast discuss Aguero rotation and budget defences

The Scoutcast is back once again to cover the key discussion topics ahead of Gameweek 11.

David will be joined by Az and current FFS Mods and Cons joint-leader Andy Goddard this week.

The show will run from 20:00 GMT until 21:00 GMT. You can watch it on our YouTube channel.

Up first, the Scoutcast crew will reflect on a Gameweek 10 fraught with contrasting emotions.

Andy did exceptionally well – David and Az did not.

Then, moving forward into Gameweek 11, we will tackle the Manchester City rotation debate, how seriously to take Leicester’s recent form and whether budget defences are coming back into fashion once again.

What to do with this lot? Got 2 FT and 0.2 ITB

    Pope
Ottamendi* / Soy / TAA / Lund (Rico)
Sterling / KDB / Mount / Salah (Cantwell*)
    Abraham / Vardy (Greenwood*)

    1) Ottamendi + Cantwell --> 4.5 + Barnes
    2) Ottamendi + Greenwood --> 3.9 + Maupay
    3) Ottamendi --> AWB or Maguire

Matip 'could' be sidelined for 'upto' 6 weeks, for the injury he sustained at Sheffield in late September. He just needs rest, not an operation. There are many who are expecting him to be back by the end of the IB. Could be back sooner than expected.

    ABC

    A) Kane Salah Son Martial
    B) Firmino Vardy Mane Son
    C) Kane Firmino Salah Martial

Leaning towards A or D for the captaincy options in Salah and Kane. So might be a question of Son vs Firmino in the end

Check my GW history for my thoughts on hits

It seems your team might not have Sterling. I'd prefer Sterling/KDB + Rico + Jimenez/Abraham to Dilva + Firmino. Greater routes to points

Don't have sterling, no. Have KDB.
Wouldn't be able to afford Jimenez. It would be 6.3 max. Have tammy and maupay.
Agree on hits, only made one so far. But this may be worthwhile

        1. Ze_Austin
          • 5 Years
          4 years, 6 months ago

If you have only made one so far, we disagree on hits. I've made 17 transfers and used a WC 😀

6.3 max does cause a hitch. Tammy + Maupay means no Vardy? Then Rico + Dilva + Vardy, please

Ah, sorry, I thought you were against!

I thought that the line-ups for EFL cup would give hint who will be Guardiola playing this weekend.

He started Jesus and Aguero together! Aguero played full 90 minutes and Jesus was sub-out just 3 minutes earlier.

    It’s really sick for me...

There aren't hints as to who Guardiola will play. He chooses his XI based on factors and mini decisions going on in his mind and on the training ground that we have no access to. All we see in lineup history is just that, the lineups. Not the thought process behind them, except when he says the thought process... Like when he said that weird quote of Jesus having more rhythm because Aguero was rested over the international break, yet he played Dilva :/

I refrained from moving Firmino to Vardy. It has cost .3 so far. I hope I made the right decision. With only 3 choices for forwards I have joined bandwagons and failed miserably. (Wilson. Abraham etc) I just feel a slot for a pool player in attack gives me more options in midfield.

Actually B gives more balanced team IMO
For example Robbo IN for Otamendi needs 1.5m extra cash ...
Whereas Salah IN for Raz needs 0.5m only (I'm assuming Salah Mane KDB will be the big hitters in Midfield)
How would you get Robbo in this team (mine)
        Pope Button
        Taa Otamendi Soyuncu Lundstram Rico
        Mane Raz KDB CHO Donkey
        Vardy Tammy Jimenez

Going without the best attacking asset on the best attacking team doesn’t seem very balanced at all to me.

It amazes me Man Utd who can get just about anyone they want cannot find 2 creative midfield players. Mata was massively underrated. Pogba does not like being there and the rest are journeymen or have too high opinion about themselves..
I would be all over Erikson atm. Even the likes of Everton, West Ham, Palace, Villa, Brighton, and Leicester have a player in that position who is far better than what United have, never mind the "top 6"
    Awaiting United fans comments (smile)

Erikson will want to go to UCL club than a europa club like Manutd. And know they cant get anyone from the top sides as neither their manager is a big draw nor is Manutd a big draw for Non British players. Another reason which actually surprisingly matters for players is comfort of city to shift to. And Manchester is like a cold prison compared to Spain and Italian cities

I love you RECKLESS. All so true but Liverpool holding on to their players. There are a multitude of reasons but it all comes down to one thing, bad management. 6 years ago when their 1st mistakes started happening is when they needed such a player. The stable door was let wide open.

Not a United fan. As long as OGS is there, they cannot realistically win the PL, hence the lack of appeal for their transfer target. Thats what Mourinho had, an ironclad rep of success and trophies. Thats something to hold on to.
Add the internal issues, and hence why top top talents like Sancho and B. Fernandes didnt sign in the summer.
Would Eriksen sign? I'd wager Spurs hav a better chance of silverwate than United at this moment in time.

Maddison is very overhyped imo. Tielemans has better goal/assist ratio and is 0,7 cheaper

Tielemans has been involved in 13 goals in his 23 pl starts (0.56 ratio) Maddison 19 in his 42 pl starts (0.45 ratio)

Jesus was subbed at risk of Aguero. Guess more mourning for Kun owners vs Soton. Must be first time Kun is turning out to be one of worst transfers this season.

After that 9-0 loss, that 3-1 loss felt numb haha.
A few positive here and there, a better secondhalf performance. Danso played okay. Redmond and Adams provided good energy when they came one. Debut for young Jake Vokins. Overall positive.

Actually decent once Vokins came on, when you play him in his natural cB position. Who would've thought?
Not sure who plays in the weekend though.
Stephens was . . . ineffective. Never seen a CB so inept in the air, jumping do head f*** all. So good on the ball, but off it is probably the worst CB in the prem.

Yup. I felt S'oton fans would be encouraged by how the team (finally) parked the bus as one defensive unit. Back to freely flowing attack in the next easy game, I guess?

Agree, we finally look organised, somewhat. Next "easy" game, we'll probably play more attackingly, its the way Ralph wants it, and he'll die by it.
