FPL points projections: Spurs duo lead City assets in Gameweek 35

Our Fantasy Premier League (FPL) points projections for Gameweek 35 are available for Premium Members of Fantasy Football Scout.

These will be updated for the final time after Friday’s press conferences.

With there being no ‘doubles’, it’s little surprise to see Mohamed Salah (£13.3m) topping the list of projected scores for the week – but only just.

As for the premium battle elsewhere, it’s the Tottenham Hotspur duo of Son Heung-min (£11.0m) and Harry Kane (£12.5m) that lead the way ahead of the big hitters from Manchester City and beyond.

Subscribers can see the players heading the points projections tables for both this upcoming Gameweek and the next four in the images below but you can get the full picture by clicking here.

You can even get a breakdown of the points, from attacking returns to clean sheets, by clicking here.

Our Rate My Team tool, meanwhile, can give you an approximation of how many FPL points your own team will score over a series of Gameweeks. We’ve more details on this below.

GAMEWEEK 35: FPL POINTS PROJECTIONS

WHAT IS RATE MY TEAM?

Rate my Team (RMT) is a tool designed to give you an approximation of how many FPL points your team will score over a series of Gameweeks. This takes into account captaincy, vice-captains and automatic substitution points.

WHAT ARE PROJECTIONS?

Projections come in two forms – Season Projections and Six-Gameweek Projections (SGP).

Season projections show algorithm-generated predictions for every FPL player. This includes goals, assists, clean sheets, minutes played, bonus points, yellow cards and, most importantly, FPL points.

SGP shows algorithm-generated predictions for every player’s FPL points in each of the next six Gameweeks, calculating their points per million value over this period. These numbers are the same numbers as the ones used in RMT.

HOW ARE THE VALUES FOR RATE MY TEAM AND PROJECTIONS CALCULATED?

The values are generated by an algorithm that uses both current and historical data. There is also constant human monitoring so that the model can respond quickly to news, injuries or tactical changes that otherwise the algorithm may underestimate.

We do this to generate the best values with as little bias as possible.

HOW DO I LOAD MY TEAM INTO RMT?

To load your team into RMT, you need to type in your FPL ID.

If you can’t find your FPL ID, instructions on how to find it are on the Rate My Team page.

WHAT DO XM AND ADJP MEAN?

Placing the cursor over a player’s predicted FPL points in a Gameweek will show an xM score and an adjP score.

xM stands for expected minutes – It’s the number of minutes the algorithm is predicting a player to have. Note that this isn’t an exact Gameweek specific prediction but rather an average number of minutes. Therefore, while a player might be expected to play 90 minutes, their xM will be lower since there’s a chance they might miss the game or get substituted.

adjP is the expected points – how many points the algorithm predicts a player will score in the week if they were to play 90 minutes.

Both of these values combine to generate a final score.

WHY DOES RMT SAY TO START A PLAYER WITH A LOWER PREDICTED SCORE THAN A SECOND PLAYER?

Usually, this occurs because the algorithm predicts that a player (usually a goalkeeper) will either play the full game or won’t feature at all.

Player A – High adjP, very low xM – Low RMT score

Player B – Medium adjP, very high xM – Medium RMT score

Whilst Player A is unlikely to play, the most common scenarios is that they’ll either be given 90 minutes or none at all. Therefore, RMT thinks it’s worth starting him to make use of the high adjP if he plays, otherwise the safer option of Player B will autosub in.

Therefore it suggests picking Player A over B, despite the former appearing to score lower on RMT.

WHEN DO UPDATES HAPPEN?

While there’s no fixed update timetable, it is pretty much continuous.

Monday tends to have a big update after the weekend’s events. Thursday and Friday will have updates in the evenings following any news that emerges from pre-match press conferences.

CAN I SEE A FULL LIST FOR ALL PLAYERS IN RMT?

You can find the complete list here. It can also be found by clicking the “Players” option in the sub-menu under “Rate My Team” on the main Premium Members Area menu.

CAN I ORDER BY SCORES FOR ONE GAMEWEEK?

From the list of all players in RMT or projections, just click on the Gameweek header to sort the players by that Gameweek’s predicted score.

HOW DO I CHANGE THE GAMEWEEKS I VIEW RMT OVER?

At the top of the Rate My Team page, whilst you have your team loaded, you can select “First Gameweek” and “Last Gameweek”. By default, the first Gameweek will be the next Gameweek and the last Gameweek will be in six Gameweeks’ time, but these can be manually altered to suit your research.

    Defence is
    James Laporte Cancelo Robertson Doherty

Thinking James to Alonso and Doherty to Matip. Do you think these are best moves for rest of season- no chips left. Cash over Matip other option

I think so, Konate seems to be preferred on CL nights for the high line. Always nervous though that he could collapse from an injury at any moment.

Could get the odd rest but I don't think he will, Konate is playing the cup games (of which they have at least 2 left) while he plays the league games

If you have to ask the question, probably not. That's the rule I try to go by.

Konate is a threat to Matip imo. The choice between the two will probably be tactical, and that's not something I want to try and predict.

Liverpool have so many games to juggle...

I want to play Eddie this week with West Ham having no CB’s but just nobody to take out with Villa home to Norwich. Any thoughts?

With Son you know what you get. He'll be on the shoulder of the last man, in and around the box. Extra pt for a goal and CS. Reliable.

With Kane, you never know whether he'll be playing DM, or scoring a hattrick.

I'd rather Son, and spend the spare 1.5m elsewhere.

The problem for those of us owning Kane and FH'ing GW36 is that we daren't take him out this GW against Leicester. Which makes more transfers necessary for those of us looking to use Son/Kane to bring in the likes of KDB for 37/38. Appreciate I'm going off topic slightly at this point....

He will almost certainly will have restricted minutes imo. The Real Madrid game is historic for Manchester City. But whether he starts or not, I have no idea.

I personally don't think it's worth spinning the roulette wheel when you have reliable FPL powerhouses like Salah and Son.

It's been an interesting season to say the least, and with only a few gameweeks remaining (and a less than inspiring OR) I find myself reflecting on the things that have gone well during the season... and inevitably the things that have gone 'not so well'.

I can definitely put my finger on areas which I will look to improve on for next season and tips to help towards an improved rank (hopefully starting now), but I was wondering if anyone else had started doing this kind of reflection or made any 'New Season Resolutions'?

Take more hits early on. I tried to avoid it this season and felt I was a lot slower reacting to shifts in the template. Not sure its the sole reason, but probably why I am struggling to break top 200k compared to 10k last year.

    2. Nate(U)dog(ie)
      • 3 Years

I've definitely had a think on things I've improved on and done well. I was generally pretty patient with chips which I didn't expect and for the most part I feel like I've used them well (my 2nd WC being the highlight as it has really defined my improved end to the season). I'm definitely going to keep trying to watch as much football as I can too (or at least extended highlights), my best punts this season have been settled on the eye-test (Kane before he started scoring, Son a little after that, KDB at the right time, etc. Elyounoussi and Bruno G as differentials).

I think my biggest issues are not being patient enough at times and sometimes needing to simply leave things as they are if unsure of how to proceed or if something looks or feels a bit too much. As well, I need to also accept that sometimes I have to go with the crowd to not fall behind, even if it means I'm getting a player most people have and it feels redundant. For example, I don't think I've owned Jota once this season and I can't be so stubborn.

Want to be a bit more aggressive at the beginning of the season. Take hits, gain value.
Think I might play BB GW1 to get it out of the way.
Always consider squad structure. Definitely start with one 4.5 fwd

I think that last point is easy in hindsight, but I can't recall a season where the forward position was so devoid of options. In fairness, I think it was always coming with more an more "wide forwards" being classed as midfielders.

I’m starting to think that a GW1 bench boost could be the way to go. Makes it easier to use your second wildcard earlier and means a stronger starting XI for the run in. Having said that, if my BB36 goes well I might change my mind!

My main resolution is definitely to never captain a Watford player again although most likely that decision will be taken out of my hands next season.

Wow, great points and tips thanks! It's nice to know that others have had similar issues... I would say that I agree with taking a few hits to get on 'must have' players at the start is important, and helped me gain a decent rank by December. My main issue during the second half of the season has been a lack of patience leading to too many unnecessary hits and mu OR has really suffered as a result. Also, wildcarding at the wrong time and losing squad structure are things I can look to improve next season, and trusting my own judgement on players more! My 'rule number one' for next season is gonna be, if you're not 100% sure on making a move then keep that precious transfer safe until you do.

Great question. Havent really begun to look back over the whole season yet, but a couple of things come to mind right away.

Firstly, I have a tendency to plan really far ahead, which has sometimes worked well in terms of preparing my squad to accomodate the right players with good fixture runs, but it has got me in trouble a couple of times by moving too early. I jumped on Son in GW10 (with Nuno still in charge) ahead of Spurs' nice run, then bailed after 3 poor performances v Man Utd, Everton & Leeds, missing his goals against Brentford & Norwich. And did a similar thing with Sancho more recently. On reflection, these moves were too fixture-focussed.

Secondly, I'd echo Nate's point about the value of eye testing. At the start of the season I only watched 1-2 full games + MOTD, and realised the latter just isn't enough for this game. My performance improved massively once I started cramming in 4-5 games per week & scouting my future moves more thoroughly.

That's really interesting, and a point that I have also reflected on in terms of being more patient with holding onto players and looking beyond just fixtures and putting more importance on form. I agree, watching more games is important if you can, to pick out players who are having a noticeable impact on their teams such as Bruno G more recently and previously with Gundogan. Thanks for the response!

B vs C is hard. C allows Foden who could be just as much of a rotation risk, B someone more like Kulu (who isn't all that for a BB36 given Spurs tough fixtures)
