Suspensions

Which FPL players are nearing a ban?

In this regular article, we look at the latest Fantasy Premier League (FPL) disciplinary situation.

We also round up which FPL assets are already suspended – or returning from a ban – ahead of Gameweek 28.

A reminder: punishments for yellow card accumulation are competition-specific, whereas suspensions for dismissals cover all competitive matches.

WHEN ARE THE CUT-OFF POINTS FOR SUSPENSIONS?

The table above is taken from the Football Association website and details the cut-off points for the various yellow card thresholds.

We have passed the cut-off point for five yellow cards, so now the target to avoid is 10 cautions.

THE RACE TO (AVOID) 10 BOOKINGS

There is one player at immediate risk of a two-match suspension.

Ruben Neves (£5.4m) is sitting on nine cautions, so faces an uphill task to avoid a two-match ban as he has five more matches to get through before he is in the clear.

Four players are on eight bookings, the most notable of whom from an FPL perspective is Ivan Toney (£7.8m).

CURRENTLY SUSPENDED OR RETURNING FROM A BAN

FPL suspensions: Jesus and Gordon one booking away from a ban 1

Joao Palhinha (£4.9m) became the first Premier League player to reach 10 yellow cards, swiftly followed by Joelinton (£5.9m).

Both players were slapped with two-match bans and will return in Gameweek 29.

In terms of red cards, Wout Faes (£4.2m) will be suspended for Gameweek 28 after being dismissed for two bookable offences against Chelsea.

Casemiro (£4.9m) was sent off for the second time this season against Southampton and will now face a four-match suspension, although one of these matches will be the FA Cup quarter-final tie against Fulham.

He’ll be back in Gameweek 31.

Cheick Doucoure (£5.0m) was suspended for the first part of Crystal Palace’s Gameweek 27 double-header but returned in midweek.

Keep your eyes peeled on our Suspension Tightrope widget over the coming weeks and months, as we’ll be updating that after every Gameweek to keep you informed on the latest disciplinary developments.

    Kepa, Pope

Just putting this out there but with Ivan Toney I'm just wondering whether or not to bring him in at all this week. In the corresponding fixtures against GW27's opponents, he blanked (Eve 1-1) and (Sou 3-0, 1 pt and yellow card). Maybe consider another captain? Can't deny his current form though.

I think Brentford will struggle in these two games. They're poor away from home, don't have much to play for (Europa maybe) but nothing compared to Everton and Southampton fighting for their lives.

Might not be the first one to ask, but what to do with Sanchez, when plan is to BB GW29?:

    A) Get Raya (already on Henry and don't really like the fixtures)
    B) Get Steele (is he nailed for GWs 27-29)?
    C) Sanchez and Maddison to Raya and Mitoma (-4) - leaving me with one extra fixture in GW27, but one less in GW28

I know it's a bit sacrilegious but... I'm really considering benching Kane this week over Martinelli.

Spurs are absolutely awful atm. I think a Kane blank is more likely than Arsenal not getting something against Fulham. Forest are bad away from home but they've been mostly decent at home and maybe their form will carry over.

Forget the money, and Kane was mostly picked for GW28 anyway, does this make sense?

    1. Stranger Mings
      • 3 Years

I was playing Kane and benching saka but might reconsider

The only home PL game where Spurs scored at Home and Kane didn't returned was vs Sou GW1, I expect them to score vs Forest so I wouldn't even think of benching him. Martinelli with Trossard and Nketiah out he may start upfront but still I can't see a haul from him there

I think as a Forest fan, they have been abject away from home. There is almost a sense of inevitability when it comes to away matches. Getting most of our points at home. However, as you say, this Spurs team isn't great and I don't think they will hammer them. Clean sheet potential high though.

I get where you're coming from and I tend to agree, of course I expect Kane to get a return but I would be extremely surprised based on current form if its double digits whereas based on current form i can easily see Martinelli hauling, I'd say more to lose from benching Martinelli but Kane is Kane.

Prefer Nacho over Kane, Gabriel over Castagne, Martinelli over Bowen but maybe a different mid

Not sure who you have but mine will be:
          Saka Maddison Rashford Mitoma March

I'm just very unimpressed with WHU at the moment. I know they've been better at home but they were just hopelessly outplayed by BHA, really poor

I'm very tempted to WC and get myself setup for the next couple of weeks, or would I be better just doing something like White > Estu for free this week? Got 3.6m in the bank.

    Kepa
    Trent - White - Trippier
    Rashford - Saka - Martinelli - Mitoma
    Toney - Haaland - Kane

    Ward - Andreas - Akanji - Tarko

Yes but hold off Brighton until fixture is confirmed
          Brentford defender? Raya?

Yeah thinking White > Estup & Kepa > Raya for a -4 maybe.

Think have 2 Brighton is enough as have to bench them in GW28 and want to keep Salah and Rashford

Yep two Brighton, two Brentford for me as don't want to bench any of my starters and it gives me 2FT for 28/29.

      RAYA
      Trippier Gabriel ESTUPIAN
      Salah Saka Rashford Odegaard MARCH
      Haaland TONEY
      Kepa Watkins Mings Tark

Would you do March to Macallister if you had a FT?

No. I'm buying March instead of Mac. Still looks more threatening from open play to me

No, look at all the blanks Mac had before the recent haul.
